20k a week for 8wks and 125k for fight night sounds sufficient. I can’t imagine paying a trainer 2.5 million for a camp and fight night

Fannon i dont see how you could interpret it in that way. Derrick did what he did after he found out he was getting screwed over. Remember spence was advised by Al not to pay Derrick the little he did. Spence started listening to other people instead of the person that had his back from day one. You would sue also if your employer didn't give you the full commission on a case you won.

@themjpaul That's not a problem as it relates to the leagues that you mentioned. They too had competing organizations. The dominant ones absorbed the others, and eventually merged. The boxing promotions have tried to out compete the others and become the "league" so the difference is the fans have not chosen one over the others, and none have been able to sign all of the talent. When PBC made deals with the major networks that was an attempt, and DAZN came in throwing promises of unlimited money with no PPV in order to attract the fighters, and fans away from the others. If either of those steevie m steevie attempts had been successful we would have had a UFC of boxing. Don King , and Bob Arum were close. That resulted in the fights we wanted with downside of fighters retiring penniless, and fighters not getting ranked by the organizations that Arum , and King controlled and essential black balled. The free market is the best system to get the fights, but the fans will have to stop supporting the wrong fights

Trainers fight without a contract. 10% is 10%. I think something else is going on. The fact DJ still trains EJ's fighter makes me think this isn't as big a deal as some make it out to be. I more think DJ doesn't want to train EJ for other reasons and that's when the money issues started. I'm a big EJ fan but that beating he took and more surgery after may've been enough for DJ to tap out. I don't think he wants to be in the corner for another beating like that. It's no good for EJ and it's no good for DJ's rep as a trainer. Personally, I lost respect for DJ and EJ's dad for letting that fight go on as long as it did. Much love and respect for Errol but something was off with that fight. I saw it on his face going in. I believe he couldn't pull out because the Showtime deal was ending so he went in hurt and took a beating for that money. If that's what happened I don't blame DJ for bailing. I'm not paying to see EJ fight until I'm convinced he's ok. I was at the fight and it left me stunned.

A lot of trainers fight without a contract bcuz they don’t know any better they are not business men . A trainer will negotiate what he is worth .

No way a trainer is worth 2.5M for a trash performance

People tear PBC down because every fan of boxing from the passed few decades saw a million miles away they were horrible for boxing. Look at careers of their stable. If Danny G and Keith Thurman were treated right, they would be HOF boxers right now. Now all the PBC fighters are running to Golden Boy, Matchroom, or Toprank. And Al Haymon is no where to be found. No one has to d-ride PBC. They were just bad to begin with and their comeuppance was a long time coming to everyone except ppl that are fresh to boxing the passed 10 years.

Derrick James is being greedy. A trainer never gets back end money….. Errol is his own promoter so Derrick is trying to use that to say he should be paid 10% for all revenue Errol made but when Errol was signed to PBC Derrick did not sue Floyd and Haymon for back end money. It’s simple guys, this man saw Errol make his biggest pay day and wants a part of the PPV money because again now that Errol is his own promoter he sees all that revenue. Derrick never got PPV money and never will get that as a trainer unless he talks a fighter into giving him that. All trainers get 10% the front end money which is ticket sales and gate. Errol even gave him bonuses in previous fights just to show his gratitude for Derrick as his trainer. Really shows what kind of person Derrick is. These guys were close and Errol helped him get the other fighters and created an amazing stable off of Errol’s success. As soon as he losses he’s suing him smh Nasty works!

@dukepeoples3461 Because they own all the fighters. But we couldn't see Venom page versus Izzi when Izzi was at his best because page was in Bellator. All the issues with Boxing one thing is still is true, if the money right, you can make any fight.

Some ppl are biased due to the fact that they pretty much like the person they are rooting for. We definitely dont know what is going on behind the scenes, but ppl can still be biased even though the evidence is clear. Point in case, Ryan García testing positive for PED's and ppl have excuses for it. While there are fighters who never tested positive. But hey, it is what it is.
