Costco hotdog comes with a soda with 1 free refill for 1.50. They have Costco in England -you could visit one. I think around 30 Costco’s in England.

65" TV at the beginning is deceiving, they have big TV's as well. Not all Costco's are the size of the one in the video some of them are much larger. The Rotisserie chicken is always great. Chicken and apple sausages are fire. I don't think Adam noticed a huge hot dog and a soda was only $1.50 and they are quite good.

and lad, there's small farms you can order meats direct from... all the specialty cuts, bits and parts. It's bloody difficult to find a good butcher anymore, especially the further you get out of metro cities.. so, difficult to get cheek meat, cow tongue or the occasional bit of head without looking outside of the shops.. also tends to be a bit cheaper. Some farms allow group purchases on a half or whole beef/pork/lamb, etc. Some states you get the more unusual like bison, elk, venison, nutria, gator, squab, pheasant, quail, lamb or goat, boar, wide variety of regional game meats and of course, freshwater/saltwater meats and edible plants as well.. a few farms with the more exotic to the u.s. (kangaroo, ostrich, emu, etc) but they tend to run obscenely high, so more of a novelty buy than one might normally get shopping for small farms. many aren't properly online and the ones that are tend to be a bit more pricey, you'd do just as well going to a farmer's market.. though those are a bloody mess, anymore, also tend to be pricey... save come maybe agricultural festival times. and of course, there's the numerous vineyards too.... you find that as alt business for a lot of small farms these days still struggling to get by and having to diversify. You should really check out some of the videos on American Agriculture and Ranching...

Hey Adam , coscos house-brand " Kirkland" make the best toilet paper in america! the top 3 other toilet paper brands in america, aren't as good as Kirkland T.P.

We used to buy the rotisserie chicken because it tastes so good until we found out that they literally inject it with a sugar based liquid marinade which makes it taste so good but also high in calories. I do miss it though.

I do... but I've usually picked up half a dozen because if hot chickens melted my icecream, that was a bird I'd have to kill twice! (and even in my family of 2, buying that many is great. Can't pick up a whole raw chicken for the price and I can shred it for meals and put into the freezer for a long time. But as handy as it is.... melting my icecream is a death sentence for any food that dares! 😉😉) So under the cart it goes!

Many of us shop once a month at Costco, buying in bulk saves money and reduces the times you have to be on the road thus saving money by using less gasoline. Buying a freezer is a great investment when you buy in bulk.

I dropped by a Costco one time to specifically price-compare with other independent businesses, etc. Mixed results. Some items were cheaper, others when doing the math weren't better deals. I get it, convenience of one-stop shopping is great, especially for busy parents, or people who mooch off of the store with samples. ( Yeah, I've heard people say they had their lunch at Costco by ONLY getting samples. Maybe a few times, but making a habit of it is clearly taking advantage of independent vendors and Costco itself. ) If people did the math ( divided up cost/item or price/amount or quality itself ) when shopping they'd be surprised at what savings AND costs they're incurring, even at a Costco.

They also allow you to shop online, choosing from their inventory at the time, paying by credit card and having them deliver it to your door. As a single person I shop at Costco perhaps once a quarter for things like toilet paper and Pecans and Nutella. I shop on line with my local big grocery store regularly for one and two normal cans of things. Then have the order brought to my door. This cuts down on buying things that aren’t on the grocery list!

WOW, you're lucky, most of my friends call it the $200 store. :-) These friends are shocked that I tell them I usually spend less than a $100 for each visit. Of course I don't tell them I am just a couple of miles away from one, thus I can go more often.

Costco is famous for their rotisserie chicken. It's been $4.99 for over a decade and they refuse to raise it. It's what is called a loss leader. They actually lose a little money on each chicken, but it gets you in the store and they're hoping you decide to buy other items while you are there, thus making up for the loss.

They literally control every aspect of the chicken supply from farm, to processing plant and transport. It is insane the infrastructure they've built to support their rotisserie chicken. They are actually really good and way better than the price tag suggests (like the hot dogs, which are enormous and fairly high quality). Allegedly, a store owner had tried to raise the price on the hot dogs and the CEO threatened to kill him if he did(I'm sure this is hyperbole).

Costco and Sams Club are called warehouse wholesale clubs. You're buying in bulk to save money. Then, because these warehouse stores are so big, they also bring in the big-ticket items like furniture and swing sets. You're not wrong about going there to supply an entire house, either. I've found actual flooring at Sam's, both laminate and tongue-in-groove. Holidays are fun going to these kinds of places, because the free samples and out-door decorations will have changed to match. Wal-Mart and Sam's Club have the same parent company, and some of the same kind of selection, but the portions at Sam's will always be bigger, and they have way more stock, while Wal-Mart will have some of the more niche items, like craft supplies, that Sam's won't. I don't know if Costco has a similar affiliate to Wal-Mart, though. (We don't have Costco in Amarillo.)

It can be an all-day thing. You can buy new tires and an oil change, get your hair done in the salon, during tax season you can have your taxes done, have an eye exam and buy contacts and glasses and they have a food court. You can also buy flooring and many other items needed to build and furnish your home. If you have never seen or been anywhere like it, then it can be overwhelming.

If you buy the meat- separate into smaller containers and freeze what you aren't using today. Then you just have to defrost what you need in the future. You don't have to use the entire amount at the same time.

That requires being smarter than the meat you’re buying. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out that just because you buy in bulk to save a buck, doesn’t mean you have to cook in bulk; but you do have to have a place to store it all smartly.

I freeze mine in sections for each purpose. I’m elderly and single. So I will package two different bags for each hamburger I will make. Then in half pound sections for stuffed zucchini and peppers. Spaghetti sauce (hamburger and sausage). I also buy large packages of ground pork and divide that up into sections to add different seasonings for different types of sausage.

Everything Bagel is a 'flavor' it's not ACTUALLY 'everything', but it is quite good. 2 Tablespoons poppy seeds 2 Tablespoons sesame seeds 1 Tablespoon dried minced onion 1 Tablespoon dried garlic flakes 1 Tablespoon coarse salt

When he said Detroit style pizza looked horrible, I yelled "SACRILEGE"!!!!! There is nothing in the world like deep dish Detroit style pizza. The packages at Costco are so big because they are for stocking up, BULK buying.

It's called Kirkland brand because Costco was originally headquartered in Kirkland, Washington (an upper middle class suburb of Seattle). It's currently headquartered in Issaquah about 15 miles from there on an extremely nice campus.

We lived in a Sears supplied home built in the 1920's. They would ship the lumber on a rail car and have it delivered to the job sight. I believe there were near 50 designs they had available. You got plans, a list of material and inventory of what lumber needed to be cut to what size. Local builders then assembled them.

One of the most enjoyable things about shopping at Costco is that the company is always throwing new items out on the floor. Unique foods, clothing, etc. And their tire center (not repairs) is unbeatable.

Costco sells caskets too lol! They used to have an actual coffin in stores but now they just showcase casket catalogs and actual fabric swatches for the inside of the coffin. Their coffin price includes the shipping and delivery charges😬

Walmart also sells caskets. A little trivia, caskets and coffins are different. Coffins have 6 sides, handles for carrying, a flat top and they taper on one end. Caskets are rectangular, have rails for carrying and a rounded top.

Darn, Caskets are a delightful sight if they are pretty caskets thar are clean/have no body or vicera in them (yes i know i am a weirdo, i just think they look cool and i have a dark sense of humor, i will not work for funeral homes though as i am not good with interacting with people, i get quezey when i see some exposed partsof the inside of bodies and i am extremely sensitive to chemicals, so not the job for me)

Those $5 rotisserie chickens are so freaking clutch. You get one and just tear away at it throughout the next few days for any meal you can add it into. They aren't bad either. Supermarkets used to keep up with Costco prices for them but nowadays it's rare to see them under $7.

Dude, Costco sells EVERYTHING! You can buy new clothes, a stereo, TV, new tires for your car, AND, do your whole grocery shop in one place.

As well as redesign your entire yard and garden(s). My nephew works at the Costco here in town. He works in the TV/electronics section usually and since his boss found out the family are all avid gardeners, he gets pulled to the garden center from time to time. His parents are members and do probably 85% of their grocery shopping there. I live alone so I don't shop at Costco but if I truly want something, they will pick it up for me, my BIL will portion it and I pick it up. They freeze their part.

Yes, Costco is normal to us and yes they are all wholesale, giant stores. Even if you have a small family or are single you can shop at Costco if you have the storage space. Toilet paper, paper towels, tissue, cleaning products, batteries, books, beverages, towels, sheet sets, appliances, kitchen items, dishes, glassware and cutlery, office supplies, furniture, tire, plus you can order custom items like window coverings, electronics, or even use their travel services. And at some locations you can even buy a car through a local dealership but at the special Costco discount price. Their gas prices are always significantly lower and while it may look like a long waiting line, it actually moves quite fast because they have so many pumps. And if you have the “executive level” membership, you get a rebate check at the end of the year, a percentage back of what you bought for the year, that can be a good size check if say you bought a new washer and dryer or other large purchase.

I am traveling to Germany next year. I started learning the language, food, culture etc. I came across them and after about the second video… I wanted to go find them and put them on the next thing smoking back to their continent. He is a rude… OHHHH YEAH. I’m gonna just stop 😂

I work for a Costco distribution center in Canada. The volume of product that gets moved daily is insane. close to 200 60,000 lbs trucks sent out daily

Every Costco is like that. There is also another store called Sam's (which is store from the Walmart brand) (Sam Walton founded Walmart). It's just as big as Costco.

Holidays are insane there! They bring out the most amazing decorations, lights, holiday foods, gifts and the quality is always great. Its great for growing families.

Yes, this is very typical for Costco. They have everything but most is in bulk so better for larger families.

We have a Costco just a few miles away in Folsom, Ca. We generally don't go out to lunch because they serve so many samples of food, you basically can fill up, or at least you won't have crying hungry kids, while you are shopping. The membership is $60 per year. Anyone can walk into a Costco, but to buy, you need your membership card. The gas is much less and well worth the drive to fill up our vehicles. It's just the two of us, so we stock up on basics, you know toilet paper to last a year.lol We bought our big flat screen for hundreds less. The meat is great. And those rotisserie chicken's are so good....We love our Costco. It is especially good for us being we live in the country and only shop a couple times a month, except for Milk....Hope you are able to visit some day..

Funny you mentioned the free samples. We used to go to your Costco for “lunch “ and fill up on the samples! And don't forget the huge wine and liquor selection!

Many of us have freezers and room to store household products. We have a full sized freezer in our basement (the same size as our refrigerator). We buy frozen food and meats in bulk and separate them into dinner sized portions and fill the freezer. We also buy paper products in bulk and store them. (We had no toilet paper shortage in our house during COVID.) We shop at Sam's Club, basically the same as Cotsco, but owned by Walmart. We don't have Cotsco where I live in Pennsylvania.

Costco also has a travel agency as well- Adam Coussr, you NEED 6 pounds of carrots right now! LOL

A lot of local restaurants will be members of their Costco and use it to supplement the menu daily. It is not uncommon to run into folks in their chef uniforms going shopping in the produce and meat section. When a whole batch of food ingredients go bad or a shipment doesn't arrive, or the press of business has the restaurant run out of something, they just head down to Costco and buy what they need to fill the gap before their regular supplier can deliver. It also means that when you throw a party, Costco is a main shopping destination to get everything in bulk for the better prices.

Costco, BJs and Sam's Club (a sister company of Walmart) are all warehouse wholesale clubs. It's great for people who want to save by buying in bulk (like those with larger families). They have just about everything, but their selection is very limited when it comes to brands. So, if you need coffee, shampoo or a laptop, you may only get a couple brands to chose from, unlike a grocery store where there is much more variety.

I do find it interesting that the people of the world (outside of the U.S.) don't know about drive through banks, auto repair stores being connected to wholesale stores, they don't know about garbage disposals, or other really cool things. I'm really glad you're showing this because I hope your UK friends see it. YES, they are that big, and yes, they are typically warehouses with lower "membership" prices. They also have delivery set up if you need it. You should do a Home Depot store next.

Places like Walmart, Costco and Home Depot buy cheap farmlands, build a huge and cheaply made warehouse and get al the distributors to pack their shelves. It's very cost effective. It's the very same in Canada.

The nice thing about Costco as opposed to places like Walmart, is that they're known for paying pretty well by comparison. At least in the States. Benefits are way better, too.

There's one about a 10 minute drive from here, it's great because they have products not found anywhere else, not so great because everything in in bulk or huge formats so when you live alone it's not very practical. The in house restaurant is sort legendary for their large hot dogs that have been kept at the same price for like 30 years...

We put shelving (that we bought at Costco) in one of our spare bedrooms. That is where we keep the huge packages of goods we buy at Costco and from Amazon - we named it "The Costco Room". It may look ridiculous to buy such large quantities of any particular item (like toilet paper or meat), but bulk buying saves a lot of money over time if you have the means to store the overstock. Large meat packs are broken into smaller portions, excess portions are vacuum sealed (with a sealer and supplies we buy at Costco), and put in the big freezer (that we bought at Costco). Buying bulk items in rotation doesn't break the bank. This is why it works: Simplicity and security. No overhead for fancy display cases, or labor to enhance presentation - just some racks and everything is on a pallet. Security is at every entrance. They see your membership card at the door coming in, no purchase can be made without the membership card, then they have security check your receipt and the items in the cart as you exit the building. Reduced overhead and losses means we buy stuff at a lower price. It is well-known trying to steal from Costco doesn't really pan out - and I think that fact has an impact on the quality of customer in the store. Walmart and Costco have a whole different vibe in this regard.

there are two 'wholesale' stores like this. Costco is one Sam's (owned by walmart) is the other. both require you to pay for a yearly membership (there are different 'levels' of membership that cost more) for around $45/year. with this membership you get extra benefits like being able to use their gas station for a discount on gas per gallon. to get a membership you just walk in (tell the door person that you're going to get a membership and they'll let you in) and go to the service desk to sign up. OR you can go online to the company's website and sign up there and you can get your card from the service desk at your local store. Originally, it was for business people only, but everyone kept letting their family members use it so the company figured out that if they opened it to the public, they'd make more profit. so that's what they did. 1:21 you can buy tires in the store for your vehicle and their shop will change the tires for you, or they can repair your tires for minor issues. 1:46 65 in for $1,000 is expensive, but it may be a high quality name brand like Sony. you can get 75 in for around $500-600 right now easily. 2:01 there is both a full pharmacy and Optometrists within the store. 4:14 think if it as a walmart but the packages are larger.... 4:47 when a product says 'digital' and it's not a computer/tablet/phone/watch, then it means the controls are digital and not knobs and buttons... 6:01 Saturday is 'sample day'... and you can have more than one if you ask and they have lots left (or if it's getting close to stopping time, as they'll want to get rid of the rest quickly) 6:12 that is a pound of ground beef. 6:18 that looks to be around 5 lbs of ground beef for $3.99/lbs. (if you read the label closely it says 'per lb' on the 4th line) so a total of $19.95. meats are always $/lbs unless it's specifically marked as 'total'... but they will still put the $/lbs on the label. food prices are crazy high right now due to inflation. ground beef used to be around $1.89/lbs for 80/20 about 4 years ago... also, a secret is to get the 10 lbs 'chub' of ground beef and separate it into smaller containers at home. this is because the 10 lbs is cheaper by pound than the other ones.... 6:58 the 'secret' of the cooked chicken is that they take a loss on it so that people come into the store for them and end up staying for other stuff. it's just to get people to come in the door. also, you can get 2 for $10.00 already cooked or two raw ones for $18.00. so the cooked ones are a better deal if you're fine with it being oven roasted and don't need raw chicken for another type of meal... (like fried or stewed) 8:03 Americans will make sausage out of any meat and mix it with nearly anything else in order to find a great tasting one. so you can virtually find nearly any kind of sausage out there. I like the all beef with jalapeno and Colby jack cheese. 8:04 there is so much choice and variety of foods that tastes good but is also bad for you and it used to be really cheap. and most people don't have any self control. this why obesity is so prevalent in the U.S.... 8:11 There are two coolers. one is for veggies and fruit, the other is for dairy products. the frozen section is built only as tall as people can reach up. above that is the machine to keep it frozen. as per every store. some items are cheap and some are expensive. seafood is usually expensive because it can only be farmed at certain areas (east coast, west coast, and gulf of Mexico) and then has to be shipped frozen or chilled all the way across country to stores. while veggies and fruit can be grown in different regions and are closer to ship to stores, thus cheaper. different meats are grown in different regions (cattle in the west States, chicken and turkeys in central and southern States and pigs in central northern States). so the further away it has to be shipped and the faster it spoils, the more expensive it will cost. (salmon is almost exclusive from Alaska) it's popular for tourist from Eastern Europe or Asian or African countries to find someone with a Costco (or Sam's) membership and go buy lots of jeans (many different sizes) and bring them home and sell them to friends and neighbors. 12:18 if you have a lot of items, they will take it out and scan it and place it into another cart behind them to keep it separated. since they only had a few items, it wasn't necessary. 12:20 Costco came out and stated that they weren't raising prices on their deli items, despite inflation raising prices on other stuff. AND they taste good.... better than most store bought or even some restaurant places... plus the condiments are free.... the cheap prices for the deli foods are to get people into the doors. just like the roasted chicken, they take a loss on the cooked food in order to attract customers into the store, hoping that they will buy other stuff. whenever we're away from the house and it's getting dinner time. we just run by costco or sam's and grab a couple of pizzas for cheap and bring them home for dinner for everyone.... it's cheaper and taste better then any other 'fast food' places. 13:14 part of the membership agreement is that you will submit to a check of your receipt and items when leaving the store to prevent shoplifting. it's a quick look through to make sure that the number if items on your receipt match the number if items in your cart and any large or expensive items are on the receipt. Costco and Sam's are just about the only stores that require this as part of shopping there. (walmart usually does this, but you didn't agree to it as a condition of shopping there, so they can't legally make you participate. I don't ever show my receipt when leaving walmart) Costco and Sam's are great for stocking up, but not good for small items or items that spoil quickly. I wouldn't get the 5lbs ketchup bottle when we take a month to go though a 32oz bottle... BUT we do get the 20 bag of rice as we go though that in a month.... also, you'll need multiple fridges or freezers. (we actually have 2 fridges and 3 deep freezers and 1 standup freezers, but also we hunt deer and boar as well)

Every Costco is like this store, because Costco is a chain of warehouse clubs, and people usually shop there when they want to purchase items in very large quantities. I go to Sam's club because it is the only warehouse club that is located near me, but I would definitely go to Costco if it were closer to me.

The first thing you see when you enter a COSTCO store are the the televisions almost the size or a jumbotron in a sports stadium. I'm too poor to buy one , so I go to the food counter for a hot dog , fill my gas tank , and buy a six pack of sardines. Their rotisserie chickens are incredible. Edit , I buy Kirkland brand bottled water . A case of forty 16.9 bottles costs $3.99 USD , so it costs ten cents per bottle . I keep a couple of cases in my truck at all times and never get dehydrated .

Yup, every Costco is huge, well you have to remember that at the beginning Costco ( Price Club back in the days ) was only for business only, until they allow anybody that wants to pay for the membership. The competition for Costco is Sam's Club.

All those different cuts of steaks available reminded me of watching a newly arrived Cuban's first time in a major shopping market like this. It actually brought him to tears, as in Cuba, apparently, only those in positions of power can even get access to a steak of ANY cut. And for a common family, it's unheard of to even consider, let alone afford, one.

My husband works for a different wholesale store that is like Costco and, yes, they are all like that. They are all HUGE and and well stocked. The rotisserie chickens are a great deal for $5 and are quite good. If you want to make use of the savings that can be had shopping at those stores, you have to really make a few small investments for your home first. A deep freezer (top loading) is a top priority, a vacuum sealer, air tight containers for repackaging for storage, and a good cool/dry storage area.

Great reaction. Fun watch. Although the narrator's snide remarks about Americans were quite unnecessary. Large people who don't go to the doctor -- poor generalizations and stereotypes.

Where's the offense? He spoke the truth, many Americans are overweight because they eat too much and are not active enough. The large portion sizes are partly to blame, he didn't say anything negative.

Costco has everything. Most of us stock up on toilet paper, paper towels for the kitchen, and the food is dynamite. That guy is at one of my state’s Costco -the hats show University of South Carolina Gamecocks. 😂

Probably repeating what many others have already said here, butttt- the reason Costco is in the building it’s in is because the store IS the wear house, doing so helps them save costs.

I buy their ground beef, whole pork loins (for loin chops), and other cuts of meat... I take it home and separate it into smaller packages and freeze it. I shop once a month and sometimes only once every two months! I'll buy a couple of rotisserie chickens and take it home, remove the meat and freeze it into smaller packages. It's great for soups and quick dinners, the bones make great stock!. Lots of child care places, cooks for summer camps and outdoor programs buy their food and bathroom supplies at Costco. I was the cook for a church camp for a few years and bought most of my supplies there!

Here's the thing......shopping at costco is for people who shop maybe once a month, not on a daily basis. It is also designed for larger family's.

Yep, that’s us too. Our 2 close Costco’s are like a 30 minutes drive, either east or south. The south one is in Virginia, and the one that is east of us, is located in Maryland. We’ll usually get two food items, sometimes stop in the cafe area. I’ve reverently been smitten with getting their van/choc twist(comes in a clear plastic cup, sometimes we might get gas for our car. Have taken advantage of the tire store. I can’t recall prices now. When theVirginia Costco had various beer bottles in the bins, my spouse used to get one or two. Haven’t seen them in like 4 years.

Costco has both an On-Line store, where most things are available year-round, and the warehouse stores, where things like furniture are only available part of the year. This is because the seasonal things, like Halloween and Christmas, takes up SO much space they have to downsize other areas. Right now, summer items are using up a lot of floor space as we enter into summer this month. We don't eat 2 kgs of beef at one seating. We take the bulk items and cut them up into usual servings, put them into freezer bags, and freeze most of it for later. The first Costco I ever saw was in Scotland at least two decades ago. But you need a membership card to get into the place, OR have a friend that will get you into it with them (YOU just can't buy anything yourself).

It's so amazing to see this content. I didn't realize how strange we are here on the U.S. until I watched you lose it over a Costco, when we have these in every major city, sometimes multiple stores.

We have several chains of "membership" warehouse stores. COSTCO; BJ's Wholesale Club; and Sam's Club [owned by Walmart]. Government Employees and union members often are only required to show their ID, others must pay a yearly fee for membership. Quantities are usually quite large, so the stores aren't a good deal for singles and couples.

That's a pretty typical Costco. There are also Costco Business Centers, which sort of cater to small businesses. The one in Phoenix has an entire aisle of just Reese's products. Every variety you can imagine.

Worked with a bunch of international students and taking them to walmart was always hilarious

We have a few of these Big Box Store chains in the US but the two major ones are Sam's Clup and Costco but Super Wal-Mart is also huge but stops short of any major amount of furniture. Sam's and Walmart are owned by the same family, the Walton family. Big Box stores are great but everything comes in large sizes so they are best for families and businesses though if you are willing to size stuff down and freeze it when you get home, it is substantially cheaper to buy the larger quantities. 8 pounds of carrots, I would put a light steam on them and package them in usable portions and freeze them. Fruit also comes in large quantities so if you are not having a party or planning on eating it right away, you need to find a way to preserve it. Huge packages of lunch meats also need to be portioned but often you will find a large package that contains several smaller packages so those are much easier to freeze individually without needing to portion in freezer bags and freeze. Office supplies also come in large packages. Pens, Pencils, Sharpies, etc. come with a dozen or more in a package so you buy once ever 5 years in a normal family same with toothbrushes, they come a dozen or more to a package. Cereal comes in huge boxes but it is much cheaper than what you can get in the supermarket. Yes! Every Costco or Sam's Club is like that. Those rotisserie chickens are so good and huge. Their bakery items are great as well. Their food court is so inexcpensive it is unbelievable.

We always get a rotisserie chicken when we go to Costco. We pull the chicken apart and put the meat in one or two containers (depending on how many chickens we get) and then we put everything else in a huge pot with all the celery and spices we need to make chicken stock. We then separate the stock into different portion containers to put into the freezer. Some containers also will have portions of the chicken pieces to be the base for a chicken soup. A Greek lemon, chicken, and rice soup is the one they we seem to love the most right now. Then the other portions of the chicken we didn't put in the freezer we use for chicken salad sandwiches, chicken stir-fry, BBQ chicken, and or chicken quesadillas. It really depends on how everyone is feeling.

Walmart Supercenter also has a auto shop, optical, and pharmacy. Motor city detroit style pizza is actually one of my favorite.

Places like Costco and Sam’s club were originally intended to cater to business like restaurants. Which is why you see large sizes of canned goods. Popularity grew and they opened their doors to everyone. I’ve seen a lot of comments saying for large families but I don’t have a large family and we go every week. They just have what we need.

Loved in the movie "Employee of the Month" (2006) they worked at Costco type store and built a clubhouse on top of the shelves to get away from work 🤘

Yes, they usually have 1 or 2 cars out front. Usually pretty good deals. Also, the $1.50 hotdog is the best lunch ever. I love Costco. It is a temple of consumerism. I visit most weeks just to see how things change. And to find the ribbon display. The ribbon display never leaves, but blooms around Christmas into a much larger section

Places like Lowes and Home Depot are set up similarly, that is a very common style to sell things, it's meant to keep storage and frills on the cheap end to make the products themselves cheaper

I don't know anyone who shops like that at Costco. It's a wholesale store, so people go there to buy household staple items in bulk to save money. It's not a casual shopping spot; it's the place you go to buy a year's worth of batteries or toilet paper, etc., and people typically go there with specific items in mind. People browse what they see when they get there, but they don't go there without goals, just like you wouldn't wander around a warehouse to see what may or may not be on the shelves. People aren't just doing regular grocery shopping there; they buy the bulk food because they'll keep it in their freezers or pantries for weeks and months. It's also a good place for small businesses to stock up if they can't order what they need in the time they need it. Like if you own a little burger spot, you might appreciate the ability to run and get many bottles of ketchup immediately and at a discount when supplies run low.

Costco is a warehouse store to buy in bulk. A lot of restaurants & offices go there to buy supplies. I like to go every once in a while & get a rotisserie chicken. They're quite big & only $4.99. We eat some for dinner that night, then I take all the meat off to use in soup or a casserole later. I use the carcass to make broth. It's a really tasty chicken too. It's great to go at Christmas too because they have a lot of gift baskets & other gift ideas. They sell 2-3lb bags of whole bean coffee. They have a huge coffee grinder near the exit so you can grind it all before you leave if you want. They also sell k-cups in bulk. It's pretty awesome.

There's 3 Costcos that I regularly shop at. The smallest doesn't have room for a full furniture section but it's still big. Sometimes I just stop in for lunch. A lot of the stuff they stock changes so each time you go you might find something new you just have to get.

That was so rude comment about people being huge. There's big people in many countries, but we have more people and more access to cheap, over caloric food. Some people are in places where they don't have much choice. And regarding large package sizes, folks who shop at Costco buy bulk to save money. They freeze stuff and use it long term, or they have large families to feed. I don't now why but I think it was the WAY he said it that really got under my skin. ☹

I live so far away from the store that I buy as much in bulk as possible, can/freeze/dehydrate so I don't have to make that trip often.

Yeah the introduction of the deep freeze at the start of the video was important for Costco shopping lol. Thought that was very apt.

Costco shopping is both entertaining and if done carefully, great value. High quality items offered on coupon are seen in many of the carts you pass. Seasonal things like potted plants and gardening supplies are way better priced. Large quantities for smaller restaurants and organizations that sell concessions like little league and school football are wholesale price anyone can buy. The coolers have 4# butter you can freeze and 20 pak yogurt along with 5# bags of frozen tortellini, vegs, chicken tenders. At Christmas time you find gift items not available elsewhere at great prices. The inventory rotates constantly so every visit you find something new and exciting that won't be there next time you go. Laundry supplies are huge and pharmaceuticals are side by side with Kirkland's version in a 2-pak for less. (You don't need a membership to use the pharmacy or food court, and their prices and availability are so good that even my grocery store pharmacy buys prescription items from them.) They literally have 6 aisles of SNACKS! And that doesn't include the huge bags of chips and specialty snacks near the bakery.

Yes, These are referred to as Box Stores. These is where you go to stock up. It’s not fancy, but it’s a lot cheaper than regular stores

Usually you buy in bulk and store what you don't need right away in pantry, garage, or freezer and use as you need it. It's great for large families because it's cheaper, and you don't have to go to the grocery store as often. I love buying stuff like paper towels, toilet paper, fruits and veggies that last longer, meats, cleaning supplies, etc. I still go to the normal store for my weekly meal trips, but can buy enough toothpaste to last my family for several months for a fraction of the cost. It's worth the membership. Also, the pizza up at the food court area is some of the BEST pizza! They are thin slice, but huge and you can't beat how cheap they are. You can have a full lunch for $3.00, which is unheard of anywhere else!

There are different kinds of bagels. Regular, Poppy Seed, Onion, Garlic, Salt, sesame seed, whole wheat etc. ... It is toppings mostly. An Everything has nothing inside them except bagel. Wheat and water. But, it might have onion, sesame seed, poppy seed and garlic on the outside. They aren't stuffed. Some bagels might have jalapeño peppers in the batter, not filling it. Like a cheese crust, jalapeno bagel. Fresh bagels are great. Those bought in store I usually toast and spread with cream cheese or cream cheese and olives or avocado ( Guacamoli) or something else. It was started in NYC as a Jewish delicacy and became popular.

A couple of things to understand about these stores. First they are targeted to bulk purchases so that you can stock up for a period of time on food. Instead of going to the local grocery store and spending twice as much every day, you can go here ever so often and stock up. Dry goods keep just fine when stored properly and other things can be divided up and frozen. Also, these are only located in large cities. The nearest one to me is just under 2 hours away. I live in such a small town (village really) we don't even have a true grocery store. It is unrealistic for me to drive every day to pick up groceries, that is why it is imperative to be able to stock up in a fiscally responsible way. Thanks for the reaction. Have a good one!

I buy 2 of the popcorn and a bunch of Capri sun juices and candy bars, to hand out on Halloween. I usually get anywhere between 60 to 100 kids trick or treating. Love all the kids in costumes. I go to Costco once a month, for a family of 5.

Just went to Sam's Club, which is very similar to Costco, this past weekend. Nothing like needing to take a pickup truck to buy your steaks. And that food section after the checkout is incredible. A slice of pizza is about 1/4 of the pizza and it was a little over 1 dollar. A huge brownie sundae was also just over $1

When you live out in the sticks costco is a go-to. You don’t come into town very often so its a great one stop shop for everything you need.

These stores are all normal. The town of Billings, Montana which is 110,000 people and about 70 miles from me has 2 Walmarts, 2 Targets, Costco, and Sam's Club, which is walmarts version of Costco. Laurel, Montana which is 10 miles from Billings also has a Walmart. We used to eat lunch at Costco a couple days a week when I lived in Billings

I live in Jacksonville, FL & we have 3 Costco's, 3 BJ's, & 3 Sam's Clubs in the metro area. I do prefer Costco though. My b/f & I will go eat lunch there occasionally. I'll get the hot dog meal & he'll get the slice of pizza. He'll drink my drink & I'll get a bottle of water for $.25 from the vending machine. Lunch for 2 people for less than $5!

6:55 Costco carries some items as a Loss Leader so that people feel they are getting a rocking deal. Two examples are the $5 rotisserie chicken (at best break even) and the $1.50 1/4 pound hot dog and unlimited refill soda that is the same price that it was in the 1980s. The theory behind the hot dogs is that it is the last thing that people buy on the way out and it ensures that (for at least those that buy it) no matter what else happens in the store they are leaving with a positive experience.

I have a Costco 5 minutes from my house. You can get so much there. Gas is cheaper there. They often have people giving out samples of food and drinks. You get a large rotisserie chicken for $4.99 and a hot dog for $1.50. I have bought many plants for the yard and garden, along with fertilizer . Clothes are good and cheap for the quality. The Kirkland gin is Tanqueray and the Irish whiskey is Jamesons. You buy an executive membership for $120 , but you get a percentage back and it pays for itself and then some. We are huge fans of Costco; oh and they pay their people ok too! What is not to like? They also have travel and car discounts...I could go on.

At Costco you can buy everything from Saffron and Vanilla Beans to $4000 Scotch to $18 1L Irish Cream to Refrigerators to Ice Cream Drumsticks to toilet paper to hearing aids. What you DON'T get is six different brands of those. You get one (MAYBE two) brands and likely a Kirkland (house) brand. Sometimes, like the Vanilla Beans (in what looks like a cigar glass tube), you only have the Kirkland brand. (BTW, the Kirkland brand has some of the best values in spirits that you will find anywhere... IF they carry what you are looking for. If you want a Scotch for mixing you cannot beat their 1.75L [? maybe 1.5L] 12-yo Blended Scotch for about $38 per bottle. You can even sip it on the rocks or neat, unless you're really picky.)

We have a Costco a mile and a half from us. Yes, they appear to all be designed the same size They have a huge online order presence as well with what you see in the store plus about 100% more stuff. They also sell services. Whole house air conditioning installation, whole house back-up electric generators, home repair services. (Roofing, water heaters, furnaces,..) As a Costco member, you can get vacation package specials; cruises and all inclusive destination bundles. There is also a "business" class of membership that is market to a higher class of client. They also sell jewelry and are into selling precious metals. (1-ounce gold bars, silver, etc..) I imagine there are a lot of higher end services I am unaware of. Are the prices better? It all depends. Quantities are larger but prices per lb / ounce may be the same as a local grocery in many cases.

To anybody that doesn’t know this about Costco, you can purchase Travel Packages that are genuinely incredible. Hotel, airfare, transportation from airport to hotel, train tickets. The quality of hotels were 4/5 star places as well. 10/10

Yes, all Costco stores are this big. They’re all set up basically the same, with warehouse shelves and open refrigerated boxes. By not spending money on fancy displays, they not have a huge overhead cost.

Costco actually opened years ago in the UK, but it didn’t do well because people didn’t want to buy things in huge quantities so they closed. But I know there is one in London now.

Yep, all stores are wholesale. Americans, a good majority, have pantries for food storage. It works for families, who have to feed a lot of mouths. Just went shopping there this evening, and do it regularly. They have great jewelry too!

Bagels can come with different toppings like poppy seed, onion, garlic, salt, etc.. but the Everything bagel has all of them.

I have never seen a small Costco before. They're always megawarehouse sized. One thing that I noticed tho is that there wasn't anybody giving out free samples of food. Usually they'll have people promoting/selling food through the aisles and they'll be handing out samples.

Costco, Sam's Club & Aldi's are warehouse sized stores with a wide range of areas throughout the stores.

Costco is a store you "buy in bulk", so most stores aren't like this. But Costco is known for having really good quality and for the price for how much you get it's a value if you have to get a lot of stuff.

I was a member of BJs Wholesale Club for many years, mainly for their cheap gas prices. They were a godsend during the pandemic. You placed an order online and parked out front while they loaded your stuff into your car. Once I switched to an EV and the supermarkets returned to normal, I let my membership lapse and haven't been back. I occasionally watch The Deal Guy on KZread to see what he suggests buying each month, but I never see anything worth getting a membership for.

I prefer Sam"s Club. Which is another Big Warehouse Store

My Mother has worked for Ssm’s Club for over 30 years, you can find some amazing deals if you know how to look.

I just got new glasses. I paid about $470 AFTER INSURANCE for one pair at the optician-associated glasses shop. I then went to Costco and bought TWO pairs of glasses (computer & sunglasses) PLUS replacement frames for my current glasses (to use as backup) for $430. I'm kicking myself for giving the optician-associated glasses shop another chance after 8 years. I'll buy my glasses from Costco from now until I die.

Costco works on a mark UP system instead of a mark DOWN system. They (mostly) sell products at a fixed markup on their COSTS instead of a markdown on normal retail prices. On high markup items this can result in almost ridiculous bargains but on some very-low markup items they can actually be less of a deal than perhaps a Fry's Foods or a Walmart.

Yes all Costco’s are like that. Also Sam’s Club started as a supply warehouse for convenience stores, restaurants and gas stations. They expanded access thru paid memberships to the general public to keep growing. They were first then others like Costco came.

we go to costco in glasgow, i love the big jar of pickled onions - the one they have in the chip shops on the counter, brilliant place for everything.

Costco is a wholesale club which means you have to pay an annual membership fee to shop there. We also have other wholesale clubs here like Sam’s Club and BJ’s. They are all quite large but they don’t all have the auto center that works on cars. Everything is sold in bulk which is why it cost less overall than going to a typical grocery store like Krogers, Meijer or even Walmart. Meijer and Walmart both have clothing and pharmacies, they often have nail salons, a restaurant of some sort, or a coffee shop. Some of them also have an optical department. The down side to these massive stores is that they run the smaller stores out of business it many areas. I think the warehouse clubs are helpful in saving money for growing families but not that helpful if you are single or elderly.

Costco and BJ’s compete. It is a warehouse store. The only thing is that sometimes you’ll see something one week and you’ll go back there. It’s not there.(except the food.). It’s for shopping in bulk when dealing with food. I usually go there for my monthly shopping and then visit the smaller shops for anything that I need (on a smaller scale )during the week.

That Costco is 100% normal and average. They're all like that and they're all over the country, 600 in the US. So there are multiples in every large city, and every medium to small city has at least one. Mine is 2 miles away, which is considered to be right down the street. He's absolutely right that's why our refrigerators are so big. We shop and get a huge load of whatever we're buying and most of us have plenty of room to store it. The trunk (boot) of my car easily fits six 5-gallon bottles of water (approx. 22 liters each), so there's never a problem hauling whatever home. I'm in a one-bedroom apt in Los Angeles (700 square feet or 65 square meters) and I have a full sized refrigerator-freezer (normal, not overly large) and a separate freezer. I buy produce and meat and make big batches of various dishes (lasagna, spaghetti sauce, chicken and various other soups, mac & cheese, Shepard's pie, big bags of frozen chicken, etc.) and freeze most of it in single serving containers. That way I always have homemade food ready to go, I pop it on a baking dish or in a pot and 30 minutes to an hour later it's just like I made it fresh, and it's MUCH cheaper to eat this way. And I stay away from the fast food joints that are horrible for your health and getting scandalously expensive.

Yes, all costco looks like that. It's a warehouse store and a great place where small business owners can buy in bulk. The teppanyaki (hibachi) I went to had a chef that admitted they bought their vegetables from costco.

Yes it’s normal. There are about 2 million people in the city I live in and there are 5 Costco stores. People from the surrounding areas come and shop there as well because they are only located in large cities.

The “fun” of shopping a warehouse club store like Costco & Sam’s Club is the treasure hunt aspect. You never know what unexpected product they’re going to offer at a great price for a limited time.

The huge sizes is why a lot of use have freezers. Stock up & freeze what you can’t use immediately

My boss refers to places like Costco as "one of those places where you can pick up a 6-pack of pianos." He's not far off the mark!

We also have Sam's Club , like Costco you need to be a member . Sam's is not as large as Costco , but they sell everything also . You get to buy in bulk , you save in the long run , but you have to have room at home to store things . Last thing I bought in Sam's was a large gazebo !!

This is the norm. Every Costco I've ever been to was this size. Actually looks like they went on a slow day because there were only a few free samples shown and they had entire aisles to themselves. On a Saturday those places are packed and every other aisle has someone with free samples. And while he joked about the car repair center and said "Do they sell cars too?" they actually do sell vehicles in a catalog. There is literally nothing this place doesn't have. My father has moved multiple times in his adult life but he maintains closeness to Costco so he can restock and rebuild after every move. My mother worked at Costco for over a decade as a door person checking receipts. It's an experience.

We have chest and stand up freezers in which to store are quantity of meat. Lasts a long time. Costco and Sam's are warehouse stores where you buy large quantities so you don't have to go very often.

I live 2 minutes from a Costco, and I am in there 3 times a week just to gran dinners. The section where you get the rotisserie chicken also has a large variety of fresh made food: street tacos, beef brisket, giant chicken pot pies, stir fry, flat bread roasted chicken sandwiches, salads, pulled chicken and pork, enchiladas, asian wraps... you name it. Most of it is better than restaurant food. I don't even cook much anymore, there is too much variety and it is so very good. I eat like a king, and probably spend maybe $250 a month doing so.
