Luckily I haven’t gotten a lot of sh*t from other people other than the occasional disapproving glare, I actually got a lot more sh*t when I dressed more emo, though that was in middle school and middle schoolers are freakin’ vicious, man. Anyway, I put up a mohawk for the first time yesterday! Messy but not too bad for a first attempt. Looks so rad.

This makes me feel very lucky that my dad was a punk in the 80s aha. I was raised on X Ray Spex, The Damned, Buzzcocks and also classic rock so I feel like punk was a natural pathway. I'm a conservative by Iggy Pop and Teenagers by MCR were my favourite songs when i was 10. But I kinda feel like people who don't identify with punk music, fashion and the ideals never try to understand the movement and the scene overall

I myself wear lace code a lot for a more subtle way to show I'm a punk since I live in a conservative area, and I always get comments about it but I can never tell if they know what it means or just think the colors are cool looking.

My dad was part of the original punk movement and my nona didn't like it. Now I'm hella punk and she told me "ya know, your dad had all the spikes and the clothes and the crashy music and the mohawk. If I could handle him i can handle you. And he slowed down after a while so keep that in mind, this is just a phase." Got told this at a wedding lmao. I also got barked at by teenage boys and they kept saying "Yeah, rock on dude!"

I’m really introverted, but i still dress out etc. as most punks, i dress for myself, and wearing the clothes I do makes me feel much more confident in myself. Also having alt friends does help me alot.

i love this channel, btw. but i hear a lot of these things when i dress more punk with my crust pants and shit and i get this a lot. thank you for keeping the great content up!!

Shit people say/do to me: back when i had a mohawk, majority of the fuckers that gave me attention got their jaws dropped, or laugh. And then the ones who speak to me are always like: "didn't expect a black guy to be into rock, or have a mohawk!!!"

Not really people saying things (to my face at least), but the looks, OH THE LOOKS. Especially at church when I'm wearing a Dookie shirt or something. Lots of the time it's at school. Oh my amazing private Christian school. I don't really dress out like you said in this video so I don't really have problems that much. Oh and my parents, have no problem.

I’m a 15 year old girl and it’s hard to be a punk sometimes lmao, i started being punk almost a year ago, I always grew up around it , my mom has the mindset of a punk but couldn’t dress like it growing up so she allows me to express myself and you help me feel so safe and comfortable with being a newbie lol

My dad listens to punk music but doesnt dress punk or have much of a punk mentality, my mum doesnt do Any of that but i grew up with punk mentality(im a leftist) i love punk music AND the clothes are amazingg.

watching this was really nice, i get a good amount of shit from people so it was nice to know i wasnt alone, plus i was crafting while you were and it felt like i was crafting with you which was also nice lol. oh also, ive been gifted with amazing grandparents who will pretend bitch and moan about my looks but actually like them, its all in good fun! green Mohawks unite!

because im in school still, i get so much shit thrown at me, such as water bottles, food, footballs (soccer balls?), crumpled paper, glue sticks, not to mention the amount of times i’ve been tripped or the target of a fully-loaded water pistol.

Yay a new video! I have gotten the few glares of disapproval from the elderly, But the only thing I ever got said about my clothing was from my dad and he told me I only dress like that because im looking for attention (and honestly I'm a fucking introvert so most of the times I'm some times too scared to dress in my diy stuff because I worry to Much about what other people might think about me but it something I've been working on so I'm getting more comfortable) but I wasn't having it that day so I went in a full lecture on him and every since then he hasn't said anything xd

I’m still in school, it’s annoying because I hand painted a really cool Dead Milkmen t shirt, sprayed it with a bottle of half water half bleach, then cut a bunch of holes in it. One of my teachers in the hall said that the holes were to big (I did stitch them up with safety pins btw) and that I looked like a hobo. Luckily I had a flannel or she would’ve made me put on some other crap over it.

I used to get barked at when I wore a spiked choker, but otherwise dressed pretty plainly, lol. Strangely enough, they stopped doing that when I started dressing more "strangely" and dyed my hair, lmao

I got barked at by popular guys cause I was wearing my patch jacket with huge handmade spikes.

So I've been a big fan of the punk movement for a long time, and I've just started to really get into it myself by starting to make battle jackets and patches and stuff like that. I'm curious to know what "paying your dues" means in the context you used it.

ive been a punk from a few years and im a drummer in a hardcore band but im a christian and when it happens to be said in a group of punks they usually look at me weird

I alwaysss get complements from elders when im out skateing around ill get stopped while at a store or a crosswalk and have at least one person in town call out my vest and pants cool or unique or get asked if i made that etc...noone around my small little town dresses to self express and one fella pointed out that it was really nice to still see younger people nowadys still doing the punk thing lol dont know why he said it that way but whatever still know he meant it in a nicer way but yeah its nice to be completed on your work like that myself i only had a few people try to walk at me not to talk just quietly walked up to me to look at me witch was weird but whatever lol and i have the odd weird stares but thats normal to me now

I got a coke can thrown at me by a car before but it didn’t hit me, LUCKILY it went into some grass instead of on going traffic

I was wearing my patch jacket and my grandma called me a gangster🙃

I used to get called a lot of homophobic slurs, pretty much on a daily basis, but this has stopped. Now, I get a lot of mean-mugging, side-eye glances, smirks and sneers. One time a group of 3 guys waited outside of Denny’s for my friend and I to leave when he started commenting on our pants being too tight. My comeback for tight pants comments is usually “Yeah, there’s no room in them for you”, but he clearly wanted to fight, so we just smiled and walked away. The last insult I got was by a guy who just kept staring at me while doing the ‘my arms don’t touch my sides cuz I’m so ripped ape-flex pose’- told me to “take a shower”. Sir, I prefer baths 🛁, and unfortunately my tub can only fit me and your mom. I didn’t say that, of course, cause I am a gentleman.
