I showed this clip to my mother-in-law Cleo recently. Cleo is the same age as Shirley Temple and a huge classic film fan. Unfortunately, Cleo is compromised from a stroke, and suffers from dementia and memory loss. In spite of her limitations, she sang along with this video and knew every word. However, for younger girls they kind of had "dual citizenship", while they were technically a form of underpants, on younger girls it was often expected that they'd be seen, effectively making them fancy shorts. Little Lulu is also a product of that era, and her usual style of dress shows it.

In the theater in those days they were 2 theaters every 2 block in the cities . Radio ruled in homes back then . These films were made during WW-2 and it took the minds off the dread of life with films like these.

Shirley's acting is so well-grasped and mature for a six year old. No wonder she was so successful - it's not just her looks.

Her supreme talent should be viewed with the periscope of that - the lens of talent - and we should dissuade ourselves from focusing on those that surround her, as uncomfortable as they may make us feel.

Abused people are loving, they learn others didn't love them the way they should have. I think there comes a time when you decide not to let others change your heart. It is not a Miraculous thing that Shirley kept a good heart. I'm grateful she did.

They were actors you idiot! Don't get me wrong, there are some scenes in a few of her films that are just very disturbing to watch but the whole scene in this song was not one of them. Don't try to make everything that she's in was grotesque in nature and should be condemned. We have to learn to recognize the line between what's okay and not okay. I have to say in Shirley's case, that line is very thin.

We all knew Shirley would grow up and go on with her life that has been wonderful from beginning to end. Our dear SHirley passed away peacefully in her home with her loved ones by her side last night of natural causes, Monday, February 11 th/ 2014 . I just thank God she was a true dedicated born again Christian;- so that some day when it's my turn to leave this earth I'll meet her in Heaven.
