I've since made four trips there and plan on returning in May. There's a few things that I would like to get accomplished in regard to your country. I've been doing my homework and realized that it's a different type of challenge as opposed to those here in America. I'm trying to find the best and easiest route. Depends on where you live. I familiar with companies in Atlanta and here in South Florida. Ive used these companies before to ship barrels. These same companies can ship cars too.

This is incredibly useful information. I am hoping to ship items from Canada, including my truck, within the next five years. I do know that a vehicle must be less than five years old to import it to the Dominican, so I have a little bit of time as it is only 1 right now. I want to take advantage of the duty free shipment for my truck and belongings; by then I am hoping to have my Dominican residency. It is a Honda, so it is an import and not manufactured in the US. I have pets, and wish I could bring my turtles, but I do not think that is possible. Apparently I could request permission from the government, but I doubt they would go for that. Right now I just fill two suitcases for cargo on my flight and leave it in the Dominican. I noticed you are sending Gillette razors. Are razors not the greatest there? I wonder if I should bring some for my boyfriend next time!

You can find razor there but when I'm in thrift stores and I see cheap items I just pick them up.

I am an X-trucker and I have been in the DR for two years. I would recommend a motorcycle for sightseeing. I think you would enjoy it much more. When I want to go to the capital I just rent an SUV. But the two wheeler is much better for the countryside.

Yes you will pay taxes on electronics. They should ship it to Las Terrenas but you should inquire to be sure.

This is not applicable if you are not requesting an exoneration for the taxes. Mainly this for people who are retiring in the DR.

Yes, they have all 3. UPS and Fedex are expensive. You should look into a company called BM Cargo.

I don't know what those numbers mean...lol! But scooters are not that expensive here. Again not sure what kind you are referring to. It'll probably be cheaper to buy one here after paying for shipping and taxes.

I don't know any companies in New Jersey but it should be very easy to find. The only companies I know is in Miami.

No, you still have to pay the 18% Dominican Itbis tax regardless. However if your car is made in the US you pay zero taxes of the CIF but keep mind if your car is just assebled here meaning all the parts are foreign then you will be required to pay some tax of the CIF value.

The company I used in Atlanta when I was living in Alabama to send things to DR was name Envios Dominicana. It was on Jimmy Carter Blvd.

I'm not sure if you can do that. You will need to contact the shipping company. What I do know is you cannot have anything in the car.

You can use Aeropaq, BM Cargo, EPS and Jet Pack. You can look them up online. The way it works is you sign up with them and your Amazon items are sent you their US location and then sent to the DR location close to the address of the delivery and you pick there. I recommend to talk with a representative of the company you choose.

I will be moving this fall. I have a foreign car it’s greater than 5 years but geesh it’s so nice. Is there a way around this?? Purchasing my car there would be 70,000 usd!

There are a lots of company that ship from NY to DR door to door, Which is great because you just pay there or when gets here to your door. I'm not familiar with the companies there. But they are easy to find online. It is better to send what you already have because here even decorations items cost more than over there. Unless that you are sending appliances and electronics because they pay taxes and those items are better to buy it here because with that taxes that have to pay it cost you more. Them everything else is good idea to send it.

Beach is a must, not into nightlife but will partake occasionally. Not wanting to be surrounded by expats but would like a few. Thinking of renting for about 6 months before deciding on where to build or buy

I wouldnt suggest Punta Cana if you dont want to be around many expats. Place i would recommend based on what you mentioned is Juan Dolio, Samana, and Barahona
