    I've been looking at almost this exact setup for a remodel on my house; moving the garage and putting one of these and a deck over the new garage, so I can get a pool into a relatively small lot. Not cheap, but totally reasonable for space constraints and especially if you want the pool up not down.

    Nah. Containers just don’t pan out for habitation. As a former enthusiast, I know this. Condensation, insulation, difficult to mod, too narrow to live in...make good storage and workshops for the bottom of the garden but.

    @@rossmcleod7983 Hmm, they do seem to get used a lot for habitable dwellings tho'. I appreciate there certainly are definite cons to using a container but will hazard a guess at having the "right climate" goes a long way to mitigate any issues.

    @@t1n4444 biggest plus is just four foundation points and being relocatable provided you don’t mess with their structural integrity, but the negatives outweigh the positives, all things considered. You are right about climate. Condensation is a huge issue in cold climates and shade is vital for hot. For a permanent site, build for permanency and in such a manner that’ll allow for future mods. Containers have gained some traction in the diy, financially challenged end of the market, but it’s a false economy when better options are out there.

    @Steve Slade Hmm, then it is a very long lived tad ... we have TV series, rpt series, on just this topic. One of the "small spaces" protagonists in UK is George Clarke ... I believe he has stuff on YT if anyone interested. And Box Park in London if anyone still interested after that lot.

    Percy Jen. Of course you can do it underground. You would have to seal, coat the outside with something really well. This shipping containers rust out pretty quick. I have 2 above ground. I have the roofs coated owned them about 9 years. They are starting to rust hole already. I’m going to stick build a truss built roof on top.

    @@peteaulit Who truly knows? The rich and poor are equally guilty of greed and stupidity. Luck has huge factor in it. But riches also has a way of either amplifying or vanishing. I consider myself poor, but I project prosperity. But a rich man would think I'm poor, and a poor person would think I'm an selfish person.

    Seriously. A used 20' container costs about $2k and the pumps are a few thousand. Also, this pool is only about 4 feet deep, rather the full 8 feet.

    Benevolent Highwayman Don’t forget about the high efficiency boiler/heater, the P4 or similar electrical control panel, ultra violet sterilizer, the retractible cover, low voltage lighting pack, etc. The cost of even a small inground built on site pool can easily fetch 30 k .

    Dude, there is no way you can get a comparable traditional pool built for less than $50k....you can’t even get pool guys to call you back at them moment as they are so busy. This is actually a good deal.

    He said 10 x 20 but I believe with any and all shipping containers they are only 8ft across and they come in lengths of 10 , 20, 40, 45 and 53ft long.

    4:00 I'm not a long island building inspector but I am 99% sure that gap between the 2 deck poles is too large. I could squeeze a small kid through there. Plus I don't think they are illegal but I sure don't like the design of those horizontal cables through the deck posts. They perform perfectly as steps for that same small kid. Up and over we go. On a different note, I sure like the glass panels. Thanks for listening. I'm that guy.

It's not about what you would pay to build it, it's about what your client will pay to have it (and have you stand behind your work). Real business.

    30K for a shipping pool are you kidding me .... Way overpriced : 40ft one time use container cost you 7K plus 3 days of labor work about 1k than all the Equipment about 3K and shipping cost of about 2k is a total cost around 11K plus let's say 2k in features and all.Still under 15K. You maybe upsell it with 5K for win margin and crane install but that's it. No wonder people don't trust Contractors anymore.

    LSE LLC Used containers are $2700.00 in really good shape where I live. I think sealing it would be the costly part. They also have a hot tub. You would be surprised how it adds up pretty fast. The problem is everyone wants to make that big Margin. Just think about the warranty you would have to put out. A lot of stuff can go wrong in 10 years. That how long the General contractor has to cover it. That’s a long time for just $5000.00. Profit. Not even the pool guy has to cover it for that long!!!
