Ship Stability - Equilibrium of ships and Angle of Loll

This video is a theoretical explanation of the equilibrium of ships and the concept of angle of loll. The concepts of stable, unstable, and neutral equilibrium is discussed.
How a vessel attains the state of Angle of Loll, is also explained in the video.

    Do you have a video that explains different methods of bringing G down? Provided that you have ballast tanks or if you do not have ballast tanks. what are the correct actions to shift cargo?

    @@SteeringMariners but at angle of lol the ship rolls about a new temporary axis so in that case why do not call it as neutral equilibrium case instead of unstable equilibrium.

    Gm is positive in angle of LOLL, whereas GZ is negligible.

    Initial GM is negative in a vessel at angle of loll. where as in neutral equilibrium, gm could be positive. Thats the difference between neutral equilibrium and angle of loll.

    Your explanation regarding neutral equilibrium is theoretically wrong. In angle of loll, if it heels further it will have a righting lever to come to it's original position of AOL where as in neutral equilibrium, it will have no righting lever to come back to it's original position thus it will remain at heeled angle. in neutral equilibrium initial GM when the ship is upright is zero and in a vessel in an angle of loll, the initial GM is negative.
