A fun fact about that Picasso stage...that was 2 hours and 45 minutes into their DxDxD concert with a concert run time of 3.5 hours. They each go so hard, it's absolutely incredible.

@@SandraFernandezMX It's the connotation of "fun fact." Whatever the fact is doesn't necessarily have to be fun. It's just used to state extra information. Kind of like "just so you know" or "for your information." Almost like TMI (too much information). So don't take the meaning literally.

What you just experienced with SHINee's "Evil" performance is why they are referred to as CDnee or CD-eaters because SHINee live is 300 times better than their studio recordings. SHINee live is on a whole other level. This performance at SHINee's SWC3 in Seoul in 2014, just proves why they are legends. And this was only the opening set of songs, just imagine what the whole concert was like. Right before "Evil" they perform their song "Spoiler" and then after this, without even pausing, they perform "Nightmare," "Juliette" and then "Lucifer." And when they interact with the audience immediately after they don't even sound out of breath. They are legends for a reason and they have been doing it to that high of standard since debut. Even when SHINee were rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee rehearse on music programs because no one was singing live and pulling off extremely complex choreography flawlessly the way SHINee was doing it. SHINee sets the standard every time they step on stage and other artists are just trying to keep up. They are Idols' Idols and legends among legends. If you ask almost anyone in the industry today why they wanted to become a singer or dancer or what groups or artists they look up to, they will probably put SHINee in their top 3 or higher. Fun fact: SHINee were actually blind during that part of their "Evil" performance. I saw some behind the scenes footage once from a documentary of one of SHINee's concerts where a backup dancer or staff member actually took the blindfold and held it up to a light in front of the camera to show us that you can't see through it. SHINee are just that good, that they make it look like being blindfolded and dancing in sync is easy. :D You should really check out this full concert sometime. You will be even more floored when you see a full concert from beginning to end. Individual performances are impressive, but once you see the amount of energy they put into a whole concert you will be amazed, kzread.info/dash/bejne/hKaqmtyho7Xecbw.html. They only get more impressive as the concert goes on. Their vocal quality never wavers and they maintain this same energy and stamina from beginning to end.

Honestly, there are so many SHINee songs that I've liked pretty well, and then I heard the live versions of them and fell in love in a new way. Even after 14 years of being a shawol, I'm still discovering new ways to love SHINee songs.

Yes the blindfolds were confirmed to not be see through by the staff! They didn't move around too much for that initial part, they just had to practise their synchronisation to perfection for those small formation changes. I saw that Minho body roll reaction haha! Their concerts are just mind blowing, especially the Tokyo Dome ones. SHINee live is the best thing in the world

The moment you mention dynamite and you start remembering THAT minho it does have the tendency to lose one’s train of thoughts🤣

SHINee is a great group that pioneered k-pop.They sing exceptionally well.Best performance from start to finish.He is the king of K-pop, who never forgets to thank his fans.

I feel that way about so many SHINee songs! They are alright when I just listen to them but then I completely fall in love with them after seeing the live performances. But there are so many that I just love musically too!

Picasso and Evil are songs that i just HAVE to watch the live version, when it comes up on my playlist and i hear the recorded version i always end up spending the day watching their live stages once i get the time to haha

I feel like SM artists' shows are always amazing. They seem to always go all out.

Watching SHINee concerts atleast in online (because I couldn't be there😞) is always amazing. That vibe they deliver is in another level. From start to end. For whole flicking 2-4 hours. I don't know how they do that

Your face during Evil! 😂 I think Picasso must be one of their favorite songs, because whenever they perform it they all seem to be in one hell of a zone, like they all have rent due or something. And I desperately want Taemin's sweater (not the bondage gear). Preferably with Taemin in it, heh.

You should also check out SHINee's performance of "Picasso" at their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul in 2015. Because this performance of "Picasso" was from their SHINee World 2016 concert in Japan, what you just heard was the Japanese version of the song, but if you watch the SWC4 performance you will get to hear the Korean version. If you look up the lyrics for "Picasso" you will see that they are talking about living in a Picasso-like world where everything is like an abstract and beautiful painting, etc. The song is a love song. It's a metaphor for how the girl they like is changing and transforming their world like a beautiful painting. Hence why the song is called "Picasso" because they are referencing the famous painter Picasso. And that is also why you see in their choreography they look like they move their hands and arms like they are painting a picture. SHINee debuted as Japanese artists in 2011 and, as you are discovering, they have Japanese versions of a majority of their songs, plus, tons of songs that are exclusively in Japanese. SHINee are one of the most popular artists in Japan. They are so popular that they are part of the mainstream music scene and most Japanese citizens don't even consider them foreign artists. They spend about 50% of their career in Japan, so they are fluent in Japanese and they have just as many Japanese albums and songs as they do Korean. Therefore, when SHINee holds a concert in Japan it's almost entirely in Japanese. They don't even need translators when they interact with the audience. SHINee are so popular as Japanese artists that they are one of the few acts that are actually asked by the Tokyo Dome concert promoters to hold another concert there. Most people have to ask to hold an event at the Tokyo Dome, but with SHINee, executives actually contact SM and ask them to please hold another event there. As I may have mentioned before, the Tokyo Dome is one of the largest concert venues in Japan, which holds 55,000 people, and there is an unwritten rule that in order to get permission to hold an event there you have to be able to fill it to capacity. For example, this performance of "Picasso" was more than 2 1/2 hours into their almost 4 hour concert, and they perform just like this was the first song of the night. At this concert, "Picasso" was actually the last song in SHINee's rock 'n' roll set of songs which are super hype with a rock 'n' roll concert vibe, and full of intense choreography. This set started with their Japanese song " Wanted," and then without even skipping a beat they transition into their remixed rock Japanese version of "Lucifer," and then they go right into their rock-inspired song "Burning Up," and then they wrap up this set with "Picasso." And yet, when you watch them perform "Picasso" by itself, you would never know that they had just been going full out for more than 10 minutes before this without a single break, and they also had been performing for more than 2 hours prior to that. And at risk of sounding like a broken record, I still think you should take the time to watch this whole concerts sometime, even if you can't react to the full thing -- watch it on your own sometime. :D You really can't fully grasp just how magnificent of performers SHINee are until you watch a full concert from beginning to end and see what makes a SHINee concert so unique. Love the Picasso performance when they are in silver, where Taemin... well....

The blindfolds were in reaction to an anti saying SHINee was only so synchronized dancing,because they had line of sight references. So SHINee said "We'll take away the sight & show you why we're kings." There are performances where the blindfolds are lace, but this original performance was opaque cloth, no sight, no light.

Their lives vocals are just another level

Shinee's Trigger and Like a Fire are also one of their best performance live!

I always enjoy watching your SHINee reactions! Great way to end my week 😊 Evil is one of my favorite stages and it really is amazing how they were blindfolded and couldn't see. They must've practiced super hard for it. Even if it were possible for them to peek down through the bottom, I wonder how much they would've actually done that since they also have to focus on singing live and doing the dance moves. They do another Evil stage in Japan and that one has black blindfolds but they don't have backup dancers so I prefer this Seoul stage that you watched. OMG! These are some of my all time fave songs. Picasso is so *chef's kiss* From Five, "kimi no seide" is a classic. They dedicated "Diamond in the Sky" to Jonghyun at Tokyo Dome 2018 and it was very beautiful and heartbreaking. Idk if this already on your list, but "Alive" hits hard and has a great rap. They are excellent performers, they put a tremendous energy into all their songs I like that they are heard live there is no Lipsync ...

I think it's pretty common in Kpop to have songs that are made for specific purposes like ones that will be great for stage performances or for "hype sections" of concerts. I find with SHINee it's pretty easy to pinpoint what the songs will be used for like "Picasso" and "Everybody" are performance songs, "3 2 1" for hype, and "girls, girls, girls" and "woof woof" more cute fanservice.

I love that performance of Evil so much..it's just so SHiNee...😆. I know that their vision was pretty much obscured..don't really know how they did it..the only thing I can think of is maybe similar to dance performance I did where we all were wearing large masks which limited your vision a lot ..we used a combination of floor mark-outs with coloured tape and hours of practice and trust in your fellow dancers..You used a right and/or left partner to pace and space..lol.. and just kinda nudged them back if they overstepped. .Very glad it didn't involve singing too.(the audience would have been too 🤣). Picasso is most definitely best served live..The Tokyo Dome 2017 is my favourite performance but SM Japan get a bit excited with live performance usage so whatever works is best.

Especially vocal oriented, like ballads for example, I don't think he has seen any After all they're singers and performers, not just entertainers

There are so many great SHINee lives but I think you might wanna do a couple versions of Hitchhiking! It's a song from their Misconceptions album but they've gone it many times in concert and I think in terms of outstanding stages the most impressive might be from their concert right after Jonghyun passed. There's no bad performance of Picasso. However, the Shinee World 2014 Tokyo Dome is a sight to behold. They are all amazing but there are a couple of Taemin moments that are just beyond. Also, the Evil you selected from SWC III is part of the opening of the concert where they actually do 5 numbers in a row without a break. It's really worth watching the whole thing. They do the same thing at SWC V but with completely different songs.
