Shimano Dura-Ace C40 hub sound

Музыка

I recorded the noise from the Dura-Ace R9170 C40 hub sound. This is the same hub as the C60 incase you were wondering what it sounds like

Awesome! Are your wheels clincher or tubular? I am also interested in getting a pair. The coloring and label fits just any bike

I have the clincher wheels. They are a little heavier but I'm old school and like the tubes haha. Yeah they definitely look great with the stealth look, I highly recommend them 😊

Can you tell me what size tires you like on these wheels the best. I am using the Bontrager tubeless 700 x 24C at the moment.

@@polawo I have some new 28mm Hutchinson Sectors that I have had for a while now and was thinking of using. My concern was the width of the rim and how that tire would work out mounted to it. I wish Shimano would have made the rims just a 1mm or 2mm wider. The 24mm width is exactly the same width mounted. Can you measure the 28mm tire sicne you have it mounted? My bike's fork would barely allow for a 28mm tire.

@@wasupwitdat1mofiki94 so I did a quick measurement with a ruler and it appears to be 30 mm at the widest point.

is it the da c40 a sealed bearing hub already?

@@sonnynavida6477 No. It still uses Shimano's favorite balls and cone design. I have no issue with the design since it has less drag than a sealed bearing.

The wheels? I purchased them when I got the frame made from Baum in Melbourne. So it came as a built bike with the wheels

I just received my new Dura-Ace 9170 wheelset yesterday. I am unfortunately having bad luck because the hub body on the rear wheel was not machined properly and is out of round. I am experiencing bad wobble like you see on cheap low end freewheel style cassettes. My chain won't even track properly on the larger cogs and makes the clicking sound like my derailleur is not indexed correctly. I'm working on a warranty claim now but it looks like it's going to be a while longer before I actually get to enjoy the new wheels. The sound my set made didn't seem as loud as in your video, it is actually a nice sound in my opinion.

Ahhh nooo! That is so unlucky - sorry to hear that. It is pretty bad they released a lemon like that :-(

@@polawo I got my replacement wheels without issue. I've been riding them for the last 3 to 4 months and they are perfect. The sound they make is definitely softer than is this video, almost silent now. Leaves me to think that there are no consistencies to their manufacturing. But now that they are getting broken in they spin better than when new. I hope they last a long time because I don't want to throw down that kind of money again.

It doesn't sound like there is a lot of engagement and these are on par with lower budget wheels. I think it would have been great if Shimano would have used their silent technology as was done to the mountainbike wheels.
