I’m so glad to see this. I have the Antares but when I got my Exscence 3000hg spinning reel I fell In love w that series …I always wondered (and wanted) the Exsence SS HG as well.. but couldn’t figure out if it was much better/worse than the Antares. This side by side was cool to see. I can see having both would be cool. 😊 thanks for posting. Now I need to check out your hunting gear videos!!

Just bought mine Antares DC MD HG to fish the big peacock bass here in Brazil!!! looking forward to use it!!

What's the drag lb on these? Also, how do they compare to the scorpion DC? I have a curado DC and a scorpion DC, both 150 and the scorpion gets that line out way further than the curado DC does.

did you get a chance to get the new antares '23 md version??

Great info and just wondering if the main gear and pinion gear are interchangeable from one to another??? Hope u can compare with DC MD23. Thanks again for the great video.

That's a really good question. I have not taken the reels apart yet but if and when i do, i will be sure to let you know! I've only had the reels for one full season and haven't had the opportunity to clean them yet. Stay tune!

Yes i bought two 22 excense dc's lol. Have the Anda 21 and 23 MD too , addiction out of control 😂.. not to mention the Daiwa Steez s .. note Excense DC breaks more severe

almost identical reels apart from the slightly different dc tune and additional drag clicker in exsence dc.2017 exsence dc was completely different and subpar to this model i think they made a good decision to convert it under antares dc chasis.

What min and max casting weights these reels are suitable for? For example for minnow lures or silicone+lead weight

I would go nothing less than 1/4. If you go less - i would rather go with a BFS set-up. For maximum, i wouldn't go over 1oz. You can go over 1oz but it doesn't fish well. There are bigger reels that handle 1oz + better.

The sweet spot is between 1/4 to 1oz

I believe the Excense DC have less line capacity, other than that there nothing different. Would like to see the new Antares MD if you ever get the chance to use it. Also, show some fish catches using these high end reel.

Yes - the reels have a slight difference when it comes to line capacity. Exsence DC will hold about 15 yards short of what the Antares DC will hold. I have a few catches on film - it’s linked with the BFL video but not a whole lot. Will definitely do my best to capture more catches with the lures/gear that I talk about!

Paranormal! ..just thought about this , opened up both boxes of antares and Excense few minutes ago and looked at manuals wondering why less on Excense . Strange . I have 2 , two Excense DC lol but only regular Anda 5.6 gear and was wondering if worth buying the xg Anda DC ???

I found opposite: the Excense breaks are more severe / less than Anda

I'm in AZ and unfortunately the Antares would heat up so much in the summer months that I couldn't use it past the morning time. I fish from the bank, so I can't just put my combos in a rod locker of a bass boat. It would also get unbearably cold in the winter. Curious to see if the Excsense is the same. I ended up with the JDM 70 Metanium and Scorpion DC reels. They don't heat up like the Antares.

Thanks for watching! I don’t have a boat either so I’m in the same boat. I normally take a few rods and leave whichever one I don’t use in the car but I’m from Wisconsin so it doesn’t get nearly as hot here. The Antares does okay - even on hot days, baking in the car lol.

What year are this reels?

Thanks for asking. The Antares DC is the latest model (2021) and the Exsence is also the latest model (2022)
