The part that says for the shame of poverty A good explanation would be an interview that was done in iran from a father in it the father said "I have promised my child to buy him a bicycle for 3 years now. 3 years ago I told him once he gets accepted into school I'll buy him one but it's been 3 years and I still haven't been able to fulfil that promise. I've become a liar. my child asks me 'Dad are you working?' I tell him 'to pray to god' my child says 'I pray infront of the mosque everyday while Azan is being played -it's being announced that it's time to say prayers-'. I'm ashamed I don't have enough to provide for my family. It's not just me all of us are like this. We're not asking for much. We just want to work and make money. I haven't bought or worn new clothes for 7-8 years now, but a child does not understand these things and doesn't understand why he can't have new clothes. I called my mother (the grandmother of his child) and asked her to 'put my son on phone so I can talk to him' my mother said that 'my son is upset/angry with me and won't come to talk' she told me that my son says: 'dad is a liar! he has promised to buy me a bicycle 3 years ago but he won't buy me a bicycle' " the father is crying while quoting his son. This is the shame of poverty. The shame of family providers that cannot provide for their family. That can't buy even the simplest things for their children. That become liars in the eyes of their children that have yet to understand the concept of money. I hear children as young as 7 years old ask their mothers in stores if a candy is too pricy to buy or if they can have ice cream. I heard from friends that they heard a child say to their mother mom I checked the price it's only .... can we please buy this cake. Or a child nagging their father to buy them chips but the father saying excuses that it's not good for the childs health and once the child kept nagging the father finally broke and yelled that he doesn't have the money to buy it. This is the shame of poverty. Another example would be a 12 year old girl called zeynab from Ilam provenance that hanged herself cause she couldn't have new clothes for newyear(it's a custom in Iran to wear new clothes in the new year celebration). Or a 11 year old boy called mohammad musa zadeh from the city of bushehr that committed suicide because he didn't have a phone to attend online school during the pandemic. These are only a few examples there are many like them unfortunately.

You should totally go to Iran after the revolution ends. I bet you will not get to stay at a hotel for a single day because multiple people will invite you to stay at their home. And they will feed you very delicious food, and show you around acting as your free guide and translator, and they won’t let you pay for anything, because you are their “mehmoon” or beloved guest!
