    Such a dreadful shame all 4 of them are no longer with us....the Bunkers & the Jeffersons. They'll be in our hearts forever as long as we remember them, and as long as they keep playing the shows.

    I liked the Jeffersons way more than All In the Family. Archie was a caricature. He never existed except in the warped liberal mind of Norman Lear. But the Jeffersons were pretty authentic. Especially the characters. I've known a few George's and Weezy's over the years. Just think: nowadays, they could never make a show like the Jeffersons. Not in a million years. It would never make it past the network censors. Same thing with "Sanford and Son" Fred tells Aunt Esther, "you're so ugly, I could push your face in dough and make me some gorilla cookies!" .And George Jefferson used the "n-word" now and then. A lot more "now" than "then", as I recall.
