So let me get this straight, the sheriff AND his wife are off duty, out of their jurisdiction, the wife alleges that she was groped and her husband initiated an arrest? The prudent course of action would have been to contact the local authorities and let them investigate. Anyone else would have been required to follow this course. But not these two entitled bully cops. This is coming from an ex deputy sheriff from Illinois.

In this case, yes, she's lying and is a disgrace. In a lot of cases though, women are accused of lying and aren't taken seriously when actually assaulted so maybe don't say it like that... This is a case of an awful person lying, it DOES NOT represent all or even most women! Men lie about it too btw and get away with it bc in some places women are still treated like they're inferior to men. That ofc doesn't represent all or most men either. Yes, and that's why I'm NOT a police defendor. Violating people's rights, lying for probable cause... Until police have PROPER TRAINING in the Constitution and the law, and PROPER PUNISHMENT, including criminal charges, when they break the law, NOTHING will change. In this case, the Sheriff's wife needs to be CHARGED with lying to create charges, and whoever stole the woman's phone, needs to be charged with THEFT. At LEAST.
