Thanks for the well wishes and prayers. I am nearing remission. Covid caused a hiccup in my treatment but I am doing well

AB!!! This doesn’t just look good!!! It taste bomb bayyy! I made this tonight and I just love the fact how the mash potato was firm when you serve it sometimes it falls apart! Mashed potatoes with butter, cream cheese, and a hit of sour cream are really good. Made these with my turkey one year for Thanksgiving and they were the best ones I ever made. Great way to make that cottage pie (Sheppard's pie is made with lamb and cottage is made ground beef) taste great.

I had never eaten or made Shepherds Pie, but today I picked up a Marie Callander brand...and enjoyed it for my dinner !!!I so I decided i have to learn to make it. And there you. were, showing me how !!

My Mom always added cream cheese to her potatoes - SO GOOD!!! I also love chives on potatoes (mix them in with sour cream on baked pot) - and they are ridiculous easy to grow. They are perennial here in the south.

Hey ab, as someone who is British. That is a cottage pie that you just made. Still tasty though. Really brown the beef so you get crispy bit's, then sprinkle on 1 or 2 tb spoons of flour. And use beef stock 2 cups. Add thyme aswell. Mashed potatoes is similar to how I do mine, but I use milk and pass it through a fine sieve to get it smooth. Last tip, us brits sprinkle on a good layer of cheese on top in the last 10 mins of cooking. In summary meat sauce should be rich with some gravy, mash silky soft and crispy melted cheese on top. Happy soul cooking :-)

@@vixenlarue1998 no gravy just some flour, a good stock and some tomato puree. Brown sauce in Australia? I'm impressed 😂, yeah a tablespoon of brown sauce or ketchup work's like magic.

It's for the most part always been understood that Shepard's Pie in America was called that because it was the poor man's version of the British Shepard's Pie. Lamb was too expensive back in the day and today it's too hard to come by in the ground version. Both Cottage Pie and Shepard's Pie are British dishes--understood. I've always put cheddar cheese on top as a finish and Parmesan cheese in the potatoes taught by my mother. And, the sieve you speak of, I have passed down to me from my mother who used to get that mash on potatoes, I use it to strain apricots. The sieve is a good idea, but that what they have hand mixers for. Great tips though.
