Shepherd of the Hills Christmas 2023 | North Pole Adventure | Branson, MO

In this week's video the Branson Fam explored Shepherd of the Hills North Pole Adventure. The day that we attended was the opening day for the Tree Top Sky Trail. It is a wonderful way to overlook so much of this beautiful park.

The Shepherd of the Hills is a great book and was made into a movie four times. I've seen the 1941 version starring John Wayne. Betty Field delivered a strong performance as Sammy Lane.

Looks like fun! It's been quite a while since I've been to Shepherd of the Hills, I see they've made several changes since then. I'll need to spend some time there next year. I'll have to miss the girls debut, my daughters birthday is the same weekend. Hopefully some other time.

First off.... Happy early birthday to your daughter!!! Secondly, before we started the KZread channel, I (Paul) was in the same boat. I went to Shepherd of the Hills a long time ago and thought it was fine but nothing incredibly special other than the outdoor drama. After all of the changes that they have made since I went there that day, I absolutely love it. I personally find Shepherd of the Hills to be one of the most fun things for me to do in Branson. I enjoy not being swarmed with people while trying to spend some family time together. I enjoy that they have places just to enjoy how beautiful the surrounding area is. They are always adding to and expanding their park. They do not want to be a theme park like SDC. I think they know that SDC has that part of the market cornered in our area. What they do offer is something that I cherish dearly. They allow for these intimate family memories. Don't get me wrong, I love amusement park rollercoasters and what not, but I do not actually like the feeling of being crowded and the lines for those attractions can take hours at times. At Shepherd of the Hills, I feel like it is slower paced and my family has quality time throughout our visit. This certainly happens at SDC also, but it is a different kind of thing to me. SDC gives amazing bursts of family time. Whether that be on rides, shows, food, or just strolling the park, but the amount of people there most of the time takes away some of that. 10 years from now, my kids won't remember waiting two hours in line to ride fire in the hole one last time, but they will remember having that experience together for those 2 minutes after a 2 hour wait. Those bursts create the memories that will last forever. At Shepherd of the Hills, I feel like my family is always together throughout the process and never displaced. We are doing exactly what we want to do the entire time and the park is so spread out that it can feel like your family has the entire park to yourselves sometimes. That isn't to say, they aren't busy or doing extremely well. I just mean that it feels like the park offers so many random things to do as part of their general admission that guests are usually spread out pretty evenly. We were there on a Friday night and had 0 wait times for any attraction. We shared some attractions with others and that is also great with me because it teaches our kids to share and meet new friends. The wait time to meet Santa at SDC last time we were there was over 2 hours. At Shepherd of the Hills, we walked in and hung out with Santa for quite a while. Their Santa is a wonderful human being who makes your kids feel special. SDC will always have our hearts, but a lot of my recent fondest memories are at places like Shepherd of the Hills.

@@BransonFamVlog Thank you for that amazing response! I can see that you and I enjoy many of the same things. When I go to SDC, I rarely ride any rides, besides the train. I go for the shows, food and atmosphere, just to walk around. If Shepherd of the Hills had a bit more live music and season passes, I'd probably be there almost as much as SDC. I've been traveling to Branson since I was 5, over 50 years now, and I can count on one hand the number of bad experiences I remember having. I'll keep coming till I can't drive anymore, then I'll try to get someone to take me there.

@@murphysoutfitters9649 Sounds great to me. That is something that we notice when we travel. Other places have all these amazing things, but we always feel excited to come home. It is the people that cause that. Out of all the tourist driven cities that we have been to, Branson has the kindest people. Not always, but most of the people are truly kind and care about others.
