Shepard Fairey: Raise the Level | short documentary
STRAAT proudly presents Shepard Fairey: Raise the Level. In this 5 min documentary, Shepard Fairey reflects on what motivates him and how he’s using his art to inspire change. Filmmaker Lidewij Hartog followed Shepard Fairey during his Amsterdam adventures.
Shepard Fairey was in Amsterdam in August 2023 for his Printed Matters: Raise the Level exhibition in our STRAAT Gallery. He also created a giant mural on our outdoor wall and an artwork for our permanent collection.

Original like from what year ??
This man can do no wrong.
Where is Splasher when you need him. "By challenging what the experts term 'street art', our actions have, in turn, uncovered an alliance between the coercive force of the state and the "creative class" of the artist."
Yooooo we got an Obey giant sticker in Kansas City
great soundtrack. is there a list with the tracknames?
your charm art
Street art is not dead!! *unfortunately
We almost in AV(audio visual) world Be consumed by itself
I paint to keep my mind off all the crap going on in the world
He’s just an amazing friendly Man and a truly cool artist, love his views on things and his work 🤍
I am sure that Warhol is clapping from his grave.
This movement that I’ve been involved in and heavily invested in for 40 years has disappeared up its own back side as a generation of ultra poser hijacks it for their own agenda to try and appear virtuous.
"art is free" But a blank sweatshirt on my website is $200 thanks. Shepard Fairy - Artist, Activist, CEO
0:46 he's wearing a mets hat AND a braves jersey??

I can’t help but find him boring
Establishment art. So boring.

His artwork is actually based on anti establishment in the sense that his roots are punk rock old school hip hop graffiti but at the same time his audience is pretty much mainstream pop-commercial capitalist consumers! 🤔🤨💭

@@YouCanChangeYourWorldToday "based" is right word. While I am happy for artist that is making a living, his ramblings about the high function of his art, and the fact that he is now just a brand is totally off-putting. By default his work became the thing he is saying he is against. Interestingly in the past he just said "I thought it just looked cool". The only true antiestablishment street artist I know was Splasher, and he was brilliant. But everybody was hating him, best sign that he was doing right things.
Artists who tell others what to think are egotistical and arrogant. Why should we all think like SF?
This is terrible art
