Shenzhen Food Tour! [4K]

I take my first trip to Shenzhen and all I end up doing is exploring all the amazing food in Dong Men Ding Plaza (东门町广场). No regrets though! This pedestrian plaza has countless food vendors with so much variety that I probably spent more time deciding what to eat than actually eating. Classic decision paralysis :)
I was most mesmerized with the conveyor belt hot pot, which I watched for so long that the customers probably felt uncomfortable. The stuffed chicken wings and jian bing looked delectable as well. If I go back I will definitely want to try those. Ep 63

Wow didn’t know you visited Shenzhen. Dongmen is right next to my high school, so that’s a place I know very, very well haha. It used to be the very first commercial center in Shenzhen starting in the 1990s. When I was a kid that’s also where my mom would take me out to watch a movie and have dinner on the weekends. I’d say the food market you walked through, although definitely had be rebuilt, largely preserved the old flavors of Dongmen. However as the city expanded and the economic center shifting away from this district, it has become sort of a “lower end” shopping area, with younger people preferring much nicer and fancier shopping malls that are everywhere now. Even me and my friends wouldn’t go eat in that food market when we were in high school, the food might not be as tasty as they look to be😂 Anyways, I’m super glad that you visited Dongmen, hope you enjoyed your time there and keep up the good content!

Hi Michael, I actually didn't think I was going to visit until the last minute either, haha. Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of time in Shenzhen, but I was able to walk a little around the area around Dongmen and I noticed that some of the "malls" are pretty old. There was one building that I visited that had a lot of clothing vendors but absolutely no shoppers. It was a little sad to see actually. As for the food at Dongmen, the things I tried were actually not too bad so maybe I lucked out 😆. I'm really glad that I got a chance to visit, just hope next time I'm able to spend more than just a few hours there! Thanks for the comment!
