Her and Gatlin are disproving the myth of sprinters in their 30s slowing down. Ultimately, it's not the age, but the injuries which tend to come the longer you've been maintaining the insane competitive schedule, which is the real limiting factor. With a smart coach, proper training and a bit of luck we're going to see more sprinters continuing to get faster into their late 30s.

@@KX5Kat Yes injury is a very big factor, but age is still a very important factor. Muscle degeneration can begin as early as 30 years old, particularly so for fast-twitch muscles which are essential for sprinting. Right now I'll still say that SAFP and Gatlin are the rare few who are exceptions to the general rule. Many athletes still follow the trend of experiencing decreased performance once they are in their 30s.

@@1murkeybadmayn They do!!! It's just for most people that love has to be performative to be deemed legitimate love. Elaine just spoke very highly of Shelly in the Diamond League press conference in Paris. She spoke of their mutual admiration for one another. How each one is basically pushing the other towards their goals. In short, it doesn't have to look the way "we" want it to look to be legitimate.

With this run, Shelly Ann has become tied with Merlene Ottey as the woman to have ran the most sub 11 races in her life (65). She now has ran the most under 11, the most under 10.9 (41), and the most under 10.8 (21). Elaine Thompson is currently at 4th, 3rd, and 3rd respectively in those same categories. On another note, not including the 2nd and 3rd most sub 10.8 sprinters, Shelly Ann has ran sub 10.8 as much as everyone else in history combined.

@@jordanjordannis2258 I’ve put together a pretty comprehensive spreadsheet with a database of all sub 11 performances, world record progression, and global medal history. I’ve spent a fair bit of time working out the formulas, but it calculates based on global medals, personal bests, average top 5 and average top 10 performances, sub 11, sub 10.8, and world records to give every athlete a score out of 100 and rank them in order of greatest of all time. Anyways, long story short, Shelly Ann is definitely the greatest of all time, with a score of 87, with Elaine second with a score of 77. Third is Marion Jones (though personally I would disqualify her) at 68. Shelly and Elaine are both really in a league of their own.

@@desroywhite Also very fascinating, is that 2021 is already the year with the most sub 11 races in history (79, 2nd most is 2015 with 57), the most sub 10.9 (37, 2nd is 1998 with 23), the most sub 10.8 (21, 2nd is 1998 with 10), the most sub 10.7 (5, 2nd is 1988 with 2 (I don’t count the windy 10.49)). It is also the year with the fastest average top ten results (average top 10 time of 10.66, 2nd is 1998 with 10.73), and has the fastest world lead (10.54, which I consider to be the world record. 2nd is 1988 with 10.61). On essentially every single metric imaginable, 2021 has been far and away the most competitive year in history for women’s 100m sprinting. It’s not even close. The future is looking bright.

No, Shelly toned it down, she was absolutely ecstatic, she knew she had just run like the Shelly Ann we all know and love(we love them all, including Sha'carri). She put everyone on notice that she's still a force majeur, a most 'delicious', effervescent and positive soul. I believe this puts to rest(even her own) talks about her "age" and her upcoming retirement. Her only limits are those which she focuses on. In my mind here comes Paris 2024. Merlene did it, and I prayed that these sisters have put aside their competitiveness to genuinely congratulate each other regardless of who wins. Not for the sport, nor for TV, just for their own peace of minds. Keep spreading love sisters!

i have been watching Shelly ann sprinting video for so long and the hope is she will break that 10.70 barrier outside Jamaica. Kinda frustrated at Tokyo Olympic not because of becoming runner up but for stuck at 10.70 barrier. Elaine did it twice outside Jamaica. Finally Shelly Ann made it to clock an astounding time 10.60 internationally. Now if she decided to retire, she can walk out that tracks with pride 💪🏼

    Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce splits 4.3 for the 40y. She is blazing. Half way through the 3rd (32m) and 4th (41.14m) hurdle (of the 110m) = 36.57m = 40.00 yards. The stop watch is at 4.3 from ≈ 36 - 37. So she defiantly crossed the 40 mark in 4.3...

The Caribbean need to rally around these majestic ladies of Jamaica. Ladies, stay together, encourage each other and you will break Flo Jo's record. Do not let any of the media outlets pit you against each other because a house divided against itself cannot stand. All the comparisons and comments is to distract you. Do not be distracted by all the gossip and bacchanal. Focus on the goal and be each other's source of strength and break that World Record. Who knows, you three may probably break it together in the same race, anything is possible with God. One Love, stay close, mentor and motivate each other.

What a piece of history they’re creating. It’s a great time to be alive and to be inspired. Shelly omg, I love her dearly, she’s such an inspiration to many near and far. I can’t wait to see the new generation coming up talking about her.
