In the adult show he has severe anxiety when dealing with crowds and feints in front of them. So that’s probably not the case. I don’t think this a flaw in this scene though. Sheldon often gets so single-minded in proving someone wrong that he forgets his surroundings. If you were to tell him he has unconsciously found himself on the altar front in order to debate the pastor then he would probably have feinted as he frequently lacks self-awareness.

Kudos to the pastor for actually providing a stage to debate. Most reverends don't even consider it, let alone allow for it to happen even if the people are practically asking for it like Sheldon.

I'm Christian and in my own reasoning I like to use certain arguments that might not be scientific... for instance I could reason with myself "well if God isn't real at least I still lived a life in service to others and die joyful." but that's something I say to irreligious people to try and be on the same level as them. also they were at a church so I mean it's kind of rude to disrupt the service. there's very few places that have people preaching and you really have to go out of your way to willingly hear God's word so it's kind of not fair on the attendees.

You're both using faith to "prove" your religious beliefs, yet faith is literally defined: strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof. Completely illogical, people do dangerous things with faith, look at the horrible, unconscionable things people have done to manipulate other religious zealots, the Catholic & Christian churches have a lot to answer for.

I'm Christian and I agree the pastor doesn't know what he's talking about. The writers of this show did him dirty, then again, many pastors in real life don't know half of what they're doing

As a Christian I love everything about this, if we believe in our faith we (especially our pastors) need to be able to tackle the hard questions and not just give answers we’ve heard from others but actually put thought into the answers

Not exactly because In All scenarios a god or god's will "hate you" others exist and all can be disproven in 5 minutes except Christianity. Odd isn't it. You'll hopefully find this interesting, I highly recommend books by n.t wright.. it's not begginer friendly at all. You need to know the basics. Hopefully you weren't indoctrinated like other atheist that "Jesus didn't exist" or "the new testament is a myth" Scholars almost unanimously agree that Jesus existed

@Ivelios Xilosient Okay, first off, I'm no expert on the subject. But personally I'd say that no, they don't, but thay they did originate (partly, the other part being the Bible) biblical traditions. Lupercalia (the ancient Roman "equivalent" of Christmas) was the tradition, and then the Bible added the "biblical" part.

@Ivelios Xilosient Yeah, I know, I'm just refering to the Bible as the specific arrangement of those stories we know today as Bible (and I know there are a lot of different versions, I'm talking about the Biblical canon accepted by the Vatican -so, the Roman catholic Bible-. I think that one is from the late fourth century, if I'm not mistaken). Feel free to correct me if anything's wrong, as I said earlier, I'm no expert on the subject.
