Notes from lecture to follow. May it be beneficial for us all insha Allah. Forgive me if I forgot or wrote something incorrect. May Allah guide us all. Pillars of a Prayer: 1. Face qibla correctly- towards mecca (use apps if unknown) 2. Make an intention in one's own niyah/heart about what prayer you're performing/offering at this particular time. 3. Allahu Akbar- Allah is greater... 4. Recitation of Surah Alfatiha- completely : know it's meanings to attain concentration- greatest dua there is. 5. Perform your Ruku correctly as straight as possible 6. Standing back up straight as possible - attain peace/calm in this movement- wait with a slight pause- no hurry 7. Sujud: 8 parts of body touching ground( forehead, nose, both hands fully on the ground facing towards qibla, both knees, both feet touching with toes forwards qibla) , keep elbows raised as to not have them touch the ground like an dog sitting would 8. Sitting up from Sujud: be humbled-Get up to sit and wait in your sitting 9. Second Sujud: w/ 8 parts of your body touching the ground facing the qibla 10. Standing back up 11. Toma'nina: Attaining relaxation when starting any of these above actions without rushing. 12. Doing all actions in order/ without accepting 13. Last Tashahhud of a Prayer 14. Saying Ash-hadhu An llah Illaha Illa Allaahu wa Ash-hadhu ana Mohammadan Abdahu wa ana Rasoolullah OR Allahu Sali A'llah Muhammad (full version). Point is to send proper prayers upon Prophet Mohammed PBUH ( many scholars differ if this is compulsory or sunnah- most lean as it's compulsory). 15. Saying: "Asalaamu Alaikum" ( minimally) buth the full most beloved by Allah and his messenger would be "Asalaamu Alaikum waraahmatullahi Wabarakatu" towards both shoulders with both face cheeks forwards either shoulders as to be seen from behind (this is necessary in Fard prayers to say to both sides, but in sunnah/voluntary prayers-one can choose the right side as sunnah only), many people switch between it to to attain most reward in sunnan prayers to keep it more lively and fresh). Obligations of the Salah 1. Saying Subhana Rabbiyal Adheem-Bowing 2. Saying Sami' Allahu liman hamidah- standing up/post Ruku (bowing) (when behind an Imam- Rabbana Lakal hamd "to you Oh Allah we thank and send our gratitude" 3. Saying Allahu Akbar w/ every movement 4. Saying Subhana Rabbiyal A'laah (atleast once) 5. The first Tasbeeh- sitting between 2 units of salah Sajdah tusahu : forgetfulness in obligation- 2 sujuds 1. If you forgot to say Allahu Akbar (knowing you forgot sincerely- be certain 100% or Shaytan will play tricks putting doubts in your prayer) the entire Prayer and after the prayers is concluded you remember: YOU MUST REPEAT YOUR PRAYER FROM THE BEGINNING- the reason is the entire prayers was started uncorrectly 2. Example : you forgot Al-Fatiha recitation and went into your entire unit of prayer but remembered- NOW just add another unit of prayer to make up that unit entire ( if on Rakat 3/4 consider its rakat 2/4 and pray correctly going forward the next 2 rakats. In the end of this prayer before Salaams are given after your Tashahhud...complete 2 sujud (Subhana Rabbiyal A'laah 3x--->Allahu Akbar--->another sujud w/ Subhana Rabbiyal A'laah 3x ---> Allahu Akbar and then give Salaams 3. If one forgets Sajdah tusahu- try not to move away from prayer area or not too far and then do 2 sajdah tusahu and conclude with salaams. 4. If you forgot the first Tashahhud after Standing up- continue to towards your next rakat and perform Sajdah tusahu after the last Tashahhud before salaams 5. If the Imam forgot something- just do Sajdah tusahu after your prayers 6. If one remember at a different place time of the day of this forgetfulness, according to correct opinion ITS OKAY- Allah lifts the accountability of those whom genuinely forgotten it all together. Allah is the most Merciful towards his servants and wants ease for us. ANYTHING ELSE outside of the PILLARS /OBLIGATIONS are sunnah items that just beautifys your prayers the way Prophet Mohammed PBUH use to do randomly/routinely which he did off/on as to not make it compulsory. Sunnah of Each prayers : Fajir prayer : 2 rakats before fard prayer Dhuhur prayer: 4 before, 2 after Asr: none as most scholars agreed Maghrib prayer: 2 after fard prayer Isha prayer: 2 after fard prayer WITR PRAYER: Somewhat of an Fard/ Obligatory prayer- higher than voluntary prayers as Prophet Mohammed PBUH never left off in his night even when traveling: consists 1-3 rakat, 2×2 and conclude w/ singular rakat with dua Qunoot but not necessary as its a sunnah act to add or subtract the dua to liven it up as Prophet Mohammed PBUH use to do to keep prayers renewed / fresh Books to invest in: "Husnal Muslim" for sunnah / dua / hadith behind them.

Assalamu Walaikum! I have a question, when talking about where we look while paying [1:24], I look towards the ceiling or the sky when I'm standing because I imagine talking to Allah. So in that case if ai look up, my mind says it shouldn't be wrong as I'm not getting distracted I'm just dedicating to My Lord. I hope you'll help me understand better. Thanks You!

I learnt how to pray in a book, and I always had doubts about doing things correclty. This video is so useful, it reassures me a lot in the gestures and even when sometimes I struggle to pronounce words in Arabic. Jazak allahu kheir for all the videos with this sheikh.

Funny story. I'm a white American and I was in Sharjah in the UAE when I was 18 years old and I had just recently accepted Islam. I was in one of the front rows praying with everybody and then the mandatory prayer was over. There was many rows of Brothers still behind me. Many Brothers were praying extra prayers and others just sitting there. I went to leave and didn't know you're not supposed to walk right in front of anybody so every way I tried to go they kept sticking their arm out not letting me pass. I was like a ping pong ball bouncing back and forth the whole way back to the front door with everybody scowling at me. It was that day I learned not to pass right Infront of anybody praying.😂

One humble request though, please remove the background music, it sounds very distracting and in my opinion, completely unnecessary. Its very hard to concentrate. I don't know the app he mentions. However, there is an app called Dhikr & Dua which I highly recommend.

Some people when they here the name of the holy prophet Mohammad S.A.W pbuh they kiss there hands and after touch there tip of there nose and after they touch there eye brows , was this part of the sunnat plz? Jazak Allah Khair Sheik thanks

Assalamu alaykom, so is it preferable to follow another in the masjid to fulfill the obligation of communal salah, rather than to pray alone if it is late and you are unsure whether they know the ruling? And does this apply equally to women as it does to men? jazakum Allahu khayran wa barak Allahu feeke.

Assalaamu aleykum brother Belal, I have two questions. 1- I pray 4 rak salaad duha 2- 3 rak with. My question is salaad, if it is suna? 2- Witr is wrong if I 3 rak?

Syeikh.. i have a question.. i'm afraid that i do salat not because of Allah anymore, but because i want to pLease myself.. Because i like to do sujood in salat, it makes me feel closer to Allah, my Creator, my God, my Lord.. My question is, will Allah accept my salat if it's like that? 😞 I'm afraid my salat is not accepted, because i feel i do salat just for myself, not because Allah anymore.. 😞 And i'm afraid Allah would say to me, "you only do salat to pLease yourself".. 😞

Don't worry it's common, here in KZread there's a channel called: "Towards Eternity" that has a video about waswas and the solutions for this problem. Please, Go and check it, insha'Allah everything is gonna be ok, Allah will help and cure you, amin.

Is it ok to just be a Muslim who only follows The Quran and most authentic Hadith? It seems like following a school of thought creates division in the Ummah.
