As a Sheffield man and a football lover (Sheffield Wednesday fan). This video is fantastic. Hopefully we will have Sheffield Wednesday vs Sheffield United in the Premier League on Super Sunday soon, there is no game more passionate from both sets of fans than the Sheffield Derby and I stand by that. Excellent Work.

It’s absolutely criminal how little our city shouts about its footballing heritage. If it was any other city in the country you’d never hear the end of it. I mean the national football museum being in Manchester tells you all you need to know and I know this might be minor but the intro to England games on ITV has no reference to Sheffield anywhere.

Looks like the Blades are now Premiership-bound this August. Congrats on their promotion.

Natnael Guliano Bristol have always been bad, no major trophies between rovers and city. Bristol City have a bright future but if anything they are orperforming

American Norwich fan, went to Carrow Road in January for the match against the Blades and meet some nice traveling blade supporters, even bought me a pint, cheers Sheffield!

Wow man you got me thinking about the whole history of football with your insights, top quality info and I really do hope both Sheffield clubs one day come back to the elite, same goes for Leeds united as well.

You are a great channel! Fantastic and interesting stories about the beautiful game and a great help to keep up my English. Cheers from Italy (specifically Saronno, whose football club is twinned with Sheffield Weds)

I’d recommend doing a video on Sheffield United’s tactics under Chris Wilder. The offensive 3-5-2 with overlapping centre backs is innovative and unique, and part of United’s success with a limited budget is due to teams being unable to counter this style of play. Surely it is interesting enough to warrant a video.

Asked for a video about Sheffield United a while back and the tactics. This was much more than I wanted- a great video to show the troubled history that the great city who gave us football have gone through. Hopefully we’ll be back in the prem next season

There are a number of inaccuracies in the latter part of the Video Sheffield Wednesday lost to Hull City in 2016 play Off final and also lost to Huddersfield Town in the 2017 play Off Semi finals Sheffield United were promoted in the 2016-17 season and are currently in their Second season back in the Championship

Birmingham is also underperforming this days Manchester Liverpool London top football cities by far

One of these needs to be done for Birmingham. England’s second city, second largest population in Britain too. 6 clubs if you count Wasall, Wolves and West Brom, with Villa and Birmingham in the championship, and Solihull Moors looking likely to be promoted to League 2 this season. Surely, as it’s the first time ever, that Birmingham/the West Midlands arent properly represented in the premier league, with only wolves in it.

@@chlcrk i heard our lawyers took efl on over pederson saying it was against u.k rights to work if they didn't register him. i wouldn't be surprised if we go on to sue efl as they tend to make up new rules whenever they feel like it. premier league 2 is looking closer to reality every passing year. the efl is a joke.

Strange thing to say... Sheffield also has six clubs - if you include Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and Chesterfield. Sheffield has even more clubs if you include Man City, Stockport, Leeds United, Arsenal, PSG and Sau Paulo! 😮

A very insightful video, I am a Sheffield United fan and would love to have the Steel City Derby back in the Premier League, I think Sheffield needs to be invested in sharing the football history of the city and I think that's the reasoning why both clubs are not being appealing to businessmen. I am not saying that having rich owners garments success but once you reach the premier league it helps.

I’d love a video on what went wrong at Stoke between 2016-2018 so that a third 9th place finish in a row was transformed into a bottom half finish in the second tier.

I Remember SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY coming 3rd in 1992 & qualifying for Europe & 1991 Winning the league cup against Man Utd & also getting to both Major Cup Finals in 1993. Top tier football from 1984-2000 apart from 91.Massive Club SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are with No Premier League for 20 Years & Counting & when you think it's the most Expensive match day ticket prices in the Championship even more than some PL cost to get in. If SWFC was in the Premier League they would be 40K fans inside Hillsborough everyweek. SWFC are the biggest out of the two clubs.

Great video Tifo. Have you considered doing a video about Billy Meredith and the fight for professionalism in English football? Dave Riley did a great piece in Tribune Magazine on it, and that's a story that's begging to be drawn.

One omission here was that 'The Wednesday' were nicknamed 'The Blades' up until their move from Brammall Lane. This video seems to hint that 'The Blades' nickname was born with Sheffield United, that is incorrect.

What about Birmingham, Leeds-Bradford, Tyneside, Nottingham-Derby?

You can point out PL omissions from many parts of the country, look at the top footballing teams from the early part of the 20th century and you'll see names of places that are in the lower divisions today. A great team in the 1930s or 1970s doesn't equate to a big club today. The rise and fall in fortunes used to be a lot more fluid in the past before massively rich owners bankrolled teams. Look at Manchester City, they were doing absolutely nothing until they got bankrolled.

Surpassing expectations now

Would love to see a video on the current financial situation at Birmingham City, what the punishment means and also what potential repocussions/precident this now sets for clubs who breach these rules in future

Great show & is true a lot of big clubs & huge population in Sheffield area especially if you go by county as Yorkshire is the biggest county. You have Leeds, Middlesbrough, Bradford, Huddersfield, Rotherham & more. A lot of Football Clubs & especially big historic ones. United are doing great Wilder as done wonders on a small budget coming up last season on top points & was in top 4 for a while. He is Soong it again this season & playa good football but defensively smart. The Owls are huge too I thought under Carlos they would have gone up but Sam has them looking good talent like Bannam Reach. They have a talented squad & are pushing promotion. But IMO the the top 3 in Norwich Sheff Utd & Leeds deserve to go up. I feel for Bradford I like them but they have really suffered since change in owner & went from looking like promotion to relegation battle... Shame good club great FA upset

This Liverpool fan really hopes Sheffield U hangs around the PL. They gave Liverpool all they could handle in both games this season. Kudos.

Bristol doesn’t have the footballing heritage that Sheffield does though, it’s more of a rugby city.

Villa are still one of the most successful clubs in England and Birmingham city have won a trophy this century so I think brum is doing alright. Unfortunately not to Manchester, Liverpool and London’s level

No mention of their Wembley semi final, probably the biggest Sheffield derby of all time.

Funnily enough, I live in the same town as Sheffield United's most Capped player, Billy Gillespie.

Omg you guys made a video of my city!! I love you guys. I know some people who play football who are really talented. But they aren’t serious about the game. Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday have underachieved in recent years. Don’t think sport in general is invested in.

I've always thought it was shocking how Sheffield has not had one of it's teams being a top flight force given the size of the city and the fact both clubs draw a decent crowd....Though obviously the same could be said of Birmingham.

Please have a look at the career of Jimmy Hasty of Dundalk F.C. in the League of Ireland. The one-armed wonder of Oriel Park scored over 100 times in 160 games for them, including the away win over F.C Zurich in 1963, the first by any Irish club in European football.

Sheffield excel a lot in other sports though in part to its English Institute oF Sport facility
