    One question that I had a few times: is it allowed in The Netherlands to be on a camperspot with a car with roof top tent? No you are not since a regular does not have a camper registration. So if you have a camper with a RTT: Yes you are!

    Super Video, thank you! We are about to get the Jimba Jimba Large Version. Two Question you might be able to help with: 1.) Is it darker when you use the Winter Liner? 2.) And wouldn’t be cooler in Summer maybe with the liner because the heat stays outside? Thanks.

    Achim, Thank you! 1) Yes ;-). 2) I don't think so, I think it will be warmer since the material is on the inside and will reflect you body warmth more than it will reflect the sun. But... without: keep the doors open and the mesh and the tent cools pretty quick when you have wind. Does this help? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Gijs

    Hi, great vid, very informative! A few questions: 1. Why did you have to buy a >1.000€ Front Runner roof rack and why was it not possible to simply mount the load bars directly on the factory mounted racks and 2. does the ladder prevent you from using one of the rear doors? 3. Would it be possible to move those plastic clips holding the ladder to allow use of both rear doors?

    Is there enough space inside the folded RT so the bedding can be stored inside while having the transportcover mountet? I like your review, which appears to be very authetic and honest, and you showed some very interesting points, like the rainprotection during your test and the weak parts. In your video i missed the downbreak of the tent but you described it on your written review, so i got the information i looked for. For me maybe the perfect RT (weight, size, pitching time) just the time to break it down is setting me back a bit. Thanks for the time to make this review. best regards Martin

  • @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I leave my sleepingbags and pillows and some sleepinggear in the tent. It is not as roomy as a hardshell though. The downbreak is the pitching in reversed order but was a bit too long due to the fidling of the hooks under the tent. And that is not the tent to blame: it's the narrow space between roof rack and tent. Easier with loadbars. And thank you for the compliments ;-) Cheers, Gijs

    Awesome review! I really wonder why they put the flynet outside of te tent. En the regular opening on the inside. If you open the "door" in the morning and keep the flynet closed. Doesn't the matras get wet? Say if it rained of with morning dew? With normal tents it's mostly the other way so you can look outside without getting wet. Anyway just a thought. Great work man!

  • @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Joren, It is a construction that a lot of rtt manufacturers use. Why? In the first place because the flynet is most of the time closed and insects can not get in. If the flynet was on the inside you would need to open it to get to the solid door. Also they open (roll) from top to bottom and with the flynet on the outside you can always leave a part of the solid door open for ventilation and you can adjust this easy from inside the tent. Because of this the vent opening is at the top and pretty sheltered from rain. With a door that roll up (and not down) the opening would be at the bottom and less sheltered. Yes, you can end up with some rain on the mattress and sleeping bag but in practice after rain I open mostly the one that has no wind on it, hence no rain. I hope this helps! Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    Great informative video! But i wonder if this tent really protects you from the rain, because the roof is fairly short on the front side. Also on the sides there is no roof or flap top to protect you. So i think when it storms or its raining heavily. You might experience rain inside

  • @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    @OutdoorguruGearReviews

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi TO, The sides are waterproof because of the window construction. The front opening: yes, some rain will get in when the door is open and the wind the comes from the wrong direction. But the roof/awning is bigger/deeper than is might look on the video. Parc the car wise does help too 😉. Thanks for the compliment🙏. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    I unclip the cover , climb on rtt and roll it off to the front windscreen, like rolling up an Australian swag. Easy as. Same with putting it on. Would you not hook the ladder on and pull it in to the slot before climbing it and adjusting while standing on it? Much safer and will avoid busting your stitching when you fall in to it.

    I am not sure... I can't try is anymore since I returned the tent. I have an almost same ladder at home and it doesn't work since I need the last extension to put it secure on the ground. That is why you normally start extending the ladder from down to up.

    Did you read the article? This is a quote from what I wrote: 'The Sheepie Jimba Jimba that I am reviewing here is made by the Dutch camping equipment company Sheepie Products and for the Dutch market this model is distributed by Daktent.nl. The Sheepie brand is becoming more and more widespread over Europe and the rest of the world so if you looking for a local distributer, just visit their website. The Sheepie Jimba Jimba might be from the Netherlands but the idea for this type of rooftoptent originated in the Australian Outback in late ’90 of the previous century. That is the reason behind the company slogan: ‘Spirit of Australia’. To point out that Sheepie products are made for tuff outback like circumstances. The manufacturing is - like most rooftoptents - done in China. That’s enough on the background of the tent. On to the Jimba Jimba itself! ' ;-)))) Cheers, Gijs

    In Australia this tent is sold by Anaconda & rebranded the Dune 4wd Nomad roof top tent. The cheapest of any RTT incorporating gas struts to assist with opening. Good tent for the money, but the cover is light duty, don’t let overhanging vegetation on a narrow track brush against it. I also questions it’s ability to resist harsh Australian UV rays across the top half of Australia over a 5yr period without cracking & leaking. The tent needs a quality mattress topper to make it comfortable to sleep in. The hand tightened plastic covered roof rack screw clamps on a rough road don’t fill you with confidence. Perhaps swap these out for nyloc nuts with superior holding force and they won’t back off on rough roads either. Just for peace of mind. Apart from those things, a great tent.

Ik heb ook een caravan maar daar wil ik niet te lange afstanden mee rijden. Juist met de winterliner heerlijk toch comfortabel als het koud is.
