When I am getting less then 2 liters per milking I will let the am and pm milk cool completly then combine them into 1 jar so the jar is full. I find it WAY easier to skim off the cream when it is from a full jar.

I know you agree with this, but it is just so rewarding to make so many different products from your own home raised milk. Awesome video

Thank you, this will be our second season and your video has me wondering why I struggled so much last year processing the sheep milk. You made it look so simple.

Great video! I see that at least one of your ewes is an East Friesian (or EF cross)!! I have 3 EF ewes and they're wonderful sheep. I'm only milking 2 of them right now (the other has some ff production hiccups at the moment and can't afford to lamb share) and for their first freshening I'm getting almost a half a gallon of milk a day!! 🤯 your video was so concise, helpful, and REALISTIC and I really appreciated it. I will certainly be trying to make your yogurt this week! 😁 I really want to make fetta! There are so few decent videos on using SHEEP milk.

Your fridge looks like mine with all the milk in the mason jars. I've been getting into exotic ice creams with my sheep and goat milk (half and half in our household is 1/2 sheep 1/2 goat mix). I made a lavender honey with a pinch of salt and I made a kefir lime, freeze dried coconut powder, honey with a pinch of salt. Have you tried an electric centrifuge cream separator with sheep milk? I bought one but I haven't tried it.

I think there is nothing wrong with being adaptable. dishwasher or not, i think we as humans should be flexible. A tip for you. Keep a box of soapy liquid near the sink with a spunch next to it.

First thank you! This was really awesome and you packed a lot in for us. A couple questions: When I make greek yogurt I put the yogurt in a strainer. Im not sure how it’s different from your cream cheese. Id love your insight on this. Also, why do you freeze the yogurt then blend it? Does this prevent the ice block problem?

  • @WildHeartsHomesteadSC

Great question! I think the difference is the length of time it is straining. I keep it in until it is cream cheese consistency and it gets that really good tangy taste and then I salt it which gives it that delicious cream cheese taste :) and for the frozen yogurt, you got it exactly right, it's for the texture :)

Excellent video. I have hair sheep and wondered if the breed of sheep would be pertinent to flavors or would it just be what they are foraging on? How long with the butter stay good in the fridge?

I found some in the back of the fridge from the fall and it was still ok. 😅 there’s a lot of factors that can go in to taste from what I’ve heard.

Do they go on pasture or are they dry lot? We have a small yard so trying to figure out how to do this without pasture.

@@theaeroponictowerchannel great question! I rotate mine around their pasture. They have about 1 acre to themselves. In the winter it doesn’t grow much at all so they eat mostly hay during winter time :) I hope that helps!

If you’re local there is a farm near here that sells dairy called Whispering Pines. I’m not sure if they can ship it but here is their website: www.whisperingpinesdairy.com
