SHED RACING - Bugatti Secrets: Getting The Type 44 Moving
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Progress. We got the Bugatti out and moving !
Further to the Engine Rebuild+ video • SHED RACING - Bugatti ... and some footage in our French Vintage video last month • SHED RACING - Ivan's A... we've now rediscovered the footage of starting the Bugatti up for the first time, which we're sharing, together with a little recap. Then we talk about sorting out the water system, bit more on the brakes and the hubs, propshaft in, a little journey up and down the field with a clutch lesson, a changing gear lesson and then a bit of chat about fixing the carb float and replacing the HT leads and fixtures.
We're getting there. Next up will be getting the fuel tank sorted and in, wiring up the overdrive and electrics etc etc

Great to see more of John in the videos.
Great tip about checking a float for leaks. Thanks
25:09 Paddock bashing in a priceless Bugatti ♥️ Love it, Ivan. Never stop living!
What a joy to watch, your stories, the cars, the workmanship, just beautiful. Thank you for your efforts to make these videos and share with us.
Some brass or brass colored hose clamps sure would look top shelf on the upper rad hoses. You all are tremendous. Thanks for letting us in!
Thanks Suzy and Ivan, we even got a glimpse off Tanya, Marven Shebler still makes Carburettors to Aeroplane engines like Lycoming!
Fascinated to see the amount of reaction of the starter motor under load!

I've noticed on the "Wheels Through Time" channel that Scheblers were also used on old Harley Davidson twins also.
Brilliant as usual. Suzy is so good she needs her own channel. Zooms straight in on stuff when mentioned. Top girl :)
Loved the boiling water test for the carb float.
Brilliant, Mr. Dutton! It’s a rare treat to go behind the scenes with a vintage Bugatti. I really enjoyed this episode!
Wonderful video, impressive progress on the Bugatti and great to have John share some of his knowledge. Couldn't ask for more. Best wishes, Dean.
Another legendary episode, from a legendary guy. Cheers from a shed in Iowa
I love how you guys have been cranking out the videos lately - you're spoiling us!
Great job on the float John
John needs to get more air time, so skilled, and such a nice bloke...Cheers to all from Australia.
Absolutely a Gem 💎 Can’t wait for you to get the vacuum pump installed ( they sound great when working properly or the one on my 27 Chev does) and ditch the electric pump or hide it under the car and use it as a emergency primer for the vacuum pump if you lose inlet manifold pressure when you drive it hard . My old unit still works great without electric pumps though
Love the bitza magazine format. One of your best videos yet.
Pure heaven thank you for being you. I just love watching a Bugatti put together. We need to use it today to take enormous interest in these cars and those that are not quite ready for a museum and museums should be used and people should be out of drive these cars and know what they like. They are fabulous. Thank you for being you. Regards Alan from down under
Matches well with the videos about the twin cam Salmson. Great work on two lovely vehicles.
John talks! 😊 !
What a fine-looking car! I am in love with that exquisite engine!
everytime I watch this guy it reminds me of how the uk abandoned engineering...and they should not have. In the UK they have access to great engineers like this guy who work in their individual workshops and could be currently contributing to the industry. I always loved british engineering and all the old lineup of old cars they produced.....now they should be producing electric cars but are not.....what a shame for the country and engineering industry.
great job
thanks Ivan & John for the content i like the way you guys explain stuff too , the car looks amazing and sounds great too , thanks to Tanya and Suzy for filming , looking forward to the next instalment
Ivan the legend well done john and the girls cheers
What a beautiful piece of engineering. Sounds wonderful to me. Love it ❤
Good to see you are training a youngster, and I don't mean John!

So cool Ivan, I love your attitude. No worries we'll just fix it ! Good on yous ! Cheers from New Zealand
It lives, it breathes & it moves!!!!!!! You have got be happy with that, and your accomplishments in such a short period of time! Well done lads and lassies. Nice to see Tanya back. Good health and look forward to your next exploit! Cheers P.
Those floats are sometimes miserable to get soldered. You need to use good solder and a hot iron. The old solder is probably 60/40 so stick with that or the new solder may have a different melting point.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with these cars. I just found the channel and will be checking out all the great content.
Fantastic videos. Please can you give us the story behind the loco on the shelf behind you? Regards, Paul
Back when I was an apprentice at the RAE Farnborough many years ago, The DSG was considered the Rolls Royce of lathes..
How lovely to hear some input from John!
Yet another rich trove of joy. Life is good at Ivan's shed.
Any chance to get a look at those patterns used to make the panels with that English wheel?
Great old machines ,,I wonder if today's automobile will garner the same devotion in future generations🤔👍🦘🇦🇺
Just love these videos, many thanks to the team.
the best channel on here , love it all
Great content, thanks!
Brilliant!
Ivan in case you and your subscribers haven't heard we lost Marcelo Gandini yesterday 3/13/24. For those unfamiliar with that name, he was the designer at Bertone responsible for the Lamborghini Miura, Espada, Jarama, Countach, Diablo, and many more. Tip a pint to him ! 🍻 That man had an eye for automotive beauty and the world is a little darker without him !😔
Loved to hear john and watch him. Great video from the Charlatans!
DSG Lathe?....did my apprenticeship on one 55yrs ago!!
Great Car! Synchronized gearbox, no double declutch?
Hi guys…. Want to fly out here( I’ll pay for it) and look our 1983 380 SL and see that runs like a dog!! And see if you can fix it and it would be a great video…. You can stay with us!!! Lissa and phil!! Hi Suz!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
Soldering floats! Can be a veryfrustrating job, you just get it all flowed in and the pressure rises inside the float with the soldering heat, and blows the solder away!! takes me back!!

You drill a tiny hole, do all the soldering for the repair and after it cools down you quick solder up the tiny vent hole
Did you notice that the starter motor is loose..?

Jean-Luc Picard?
he is a kind of Fred Dibnah?
I hate when Americans mispronounce it BOO-GAR-TEE
Those brass floats often go holy. The brass ones lose their zinc content in time. The same thing happens in central heating feed and expansion tanks leading to a sunken float and overflowing cistern.
