The most rewarding film experiance I ever had. I was the Weapons Armorer, Special effects Tech, and Stunt man on a set of 52 beautiful women, and a half dozen men stuck in the middle of the Mojave Desert for six weeks.

I had a "bad movie night" this weekend and had a blast with this film. There were some things this film did that does it better than a lot of films released today.
"bacteriological? I refuse to believe that's a real word. It *IS?* " Well, I refuse to believe they *knew* it was a real word

As an avid Borderlands fan, and a huge fan of your work, I gotta say that Cl4p Tp reference had me rolling for a while.
Every time you say reverend mother, it reminds of the Dune books
I absolutely love this movie. Not because it's good; I recorded this when it aired on the USA network's Up All Night and my brother and I first started to audio-dub the swears back in and ended up dubbing 90% of the movie with new dialog and sound effects. I also had the opportunity of telling Kathleen Kinmont this at a Chiller convention as she signed her autograph on a photo along with "Neon!" that I gave to my brother. She was a great sport and still extremely attractive. It's funny watching the movie now because I'll always hear those stupid lines we substituted on that VHS tape. Thank you for featuring this movie. And as always, I love your videos.

I can't believe I missed the pillow! We did catch the rug in the gladiator arena, though. And it still is hilarious to see two people crucified on twigs.

Thom Florio That's awesome! Chiller like the network, right? That's cool she was there, and not embarrassed about being part of the film

She really was cool about it although most fans were there for her other work, I'm sure. It's been awhile since I was at one of these conventions but it's nice to see the stars in the flesh.
Holy shit, I totally forgot about USA Up All Night. My god, that just assaulted my brain with a tsunami of sleep deprived memories of trying to stay up as late as I could at friends houses watching terribly awesome movies like this. My Amazon Wishlist just exploded with a bunch of cheesy B-movies I'd all but forgotten about until just now.

I remember Up All Night, but somehow this movie got past me, dammit.
Well bacteriological refers to the science of bacteriology. Wait, does that mean that the war was between Bacteriologists? The fuck?
I had a bad movie night this weekend and this was on the list. I was pleasantly surprised how entertaining the film was despite how technically bad it was. There was a decent plot mixed in with randomly good acting along with surprisingly good cinematography and smart decisions by the writers. One scene that sticks out in my mind was they went Seal Team Six to infiltrate and set up explosives. They try to set off the explosives and instead of relying on the trope of the detonator needing a couple of slaps they realize the wire has been cut; which is different than a lot of films Hollywood produces. It surprised me because this B level film produced something more creative than a lot of modern hollywood films write in that kind of moment. That sequence had really good lighting as well. There's also a scene where Phoenix grabs a gun and simultaneously unsheathes her sword killing the person. That was an amazing action sequence; John Wick level choreography.

That's a big thing with many of these smaller films, that they actually put in some effort. It's one of the reasons I love them.
More people have seen these reviews than probably the movies themselves
I was kinda hoping they'd be werewolves.

@@cordia96 yep, I desperately wanted to see Kathleen Kinmont au natural, the formers Mrs. lorenzo lamas
@dornravlin you're right a lot of porn stars and playboy girls got into acting. Most of them didn't do more than supporting roles or background characters. Traci was definitely one of the few that actually made the transition to serious actress. Ginger Lynn Allen tried but then she went back to porn. (because she wasn't a good actress)

Imagine living in the hot wasteland with a burning sun while only wearing little pieces of clothes. That really makes sense XD
Ok going to be honest, I am seriously surprised this was not directed by Cirio Santiago

watching these videos from 2012-15 are painful because he had to mature as a reviewer a bit, back during this period he's just nitpicking logical mistakes in films that are clearly not meant to have their continuity and feasibility scrutinized. Now his insights are a lot more entertaining, in general and less like those other (angry nerd type) reviewers who do exclusively that
Just think. Someone got paid to write this script. "I'm with child. A male child!"
USA Up all night!? What a great nostalgic trigger..... as soon as you said the title I HEARD Gilbert Gottfried's voice scream in it in my head. 👌 nice.
@BoooRatt yep, not sure when I'll be doing it (I just did like 3 post apocalyptic movies in a month) but I will be doing it
@StrikeTeam7 thanks, the cheese was a last minute addition. I was watching her performance and felt it needed a little something extra. I'm thinking the reasoning behind the car crashes is because they travel more than the normal person so its just the law of averages.
Oh my god! I think I saw this on USA up all night like 25 years ago! I would have never thought of it again, except seeing the blonde chick with the apple and the bull-pup shotgun brought it all flooding back!
I feel this movie is so under rated. Ok so some of the acting could of been better in parts but this movie kicks so much ass. Phoenix is my kind of women. I am gonna have to review this one.
0:35 You and me both dude. It's personal favorite genre. Personally I hope to one day make my own post apocalyptic movies.
Ok, Kathleen Kinmont is also the star of Bride of Re-Animator. How could you not mention that!?!
Well to be fair, they are just following the comic book. There are some really awesome black characters, that may not be leading the group but they are the "generals" of the sub groups. At least its not like A Wizard of Earthsea where they completely changed Ged's race from black to white for the movie.
10:24 Yes I too remember catching this on USA UP ALL NIGHT I do remember the the film being called ''Phoenix The Warrior''. but I haven't seen it in years but it does look very laughable IMO. Solid job once again Cecil may I say RIP Persis Khambatta&Roxanne Kernohan!
I saw this gem on discount ay Amazon today , so I checked out your review, again. I really appreciate your videos. I noticed a couple of nitpicks that were answered in this very review. You are still awesome! 2:02 - I have no idea what is going on here 8:05 - She has telepathic powers now? 4:03 - How the h-ll would they even know what to look for in a boy? 5:01 - The first boy to be born in years and he immediately finds porn.
it’s December 1st 2017 10:30pm central time. Love the shotgun she uses in one of the first scenes.
awesome. love the intro song and visuals
Awesome. They are so entertaining, I hope they make a come back. Oh I'm doing Judge Dredd, it will be about around the release of Dredd
the comic Y: The Last Man is really similar to this also
@Holesale00 thanks :)
@JanB56 Ha! I hear she's from Eatontown.
Ahh, USA Up All Night.. A staple of every young American Boy's growth...
Movies seems like alot of fun. Definetly looks alot better than Omega cop. Gonna have to check it out.
God I love your voice overs man
Its a riot. Total Post Apocalyptic cheese.
@mongrel1989 ahh Cherry 2000, another classic. Check out my older episodes, I did that one back in Sept of last year
All I can think of seeing these women is "Snoo Snoo"
Ever notice how most apocalyptic settings are in the Mojave desert?
lANDS SAFELY ON CARPET LOL
Hell yeah! Classic Pyun!
Love that girl-gladiator fight! Made my day:)
Did the new mad max throw this plot in there ?

yeah sort of it seems. It ripped off a movie that was influaned by it.
@BoooRatt That has to be Six String Samurai. A classic!
I do but I'm not up on most of the current stuff. I know the old classics like Akira and Fist of the North Star but the most recent series I've watched is High School of the Dead.
the last ten seconds lmfao
lol awesome, just goes to show there would be a bonus to surviving an apocalyptic event.
3:32 I see that Steven Seagal instructed them on how to run.
Epic ending. And it is not just generic KZread "LolCry". I mean it. Epic.
Again, amazing attention to details. Fantastic! And speaking of apocalyptic movies, do you know any that use lush vegetation instead of the desert? like nature left alone starting to cover the land and invade everything in a hot and wet world?
@GoodBadFlicks
9 жыл бұрын
Siderite Zackwehdex most times they filmed in the desert because it was super cheap. I can't think of any off the top of my head where the world turned more into a jungle. Some video games went in that direction but movies usually go for the desolate planet.
@Siderite

That's an opportunity lost. Jungles are way scarier. Think Predator. And I know special effects would run the film into the ground, but a post apocalyptic film that actually takes place in abandoned cityscapes (and not on the street or in some invented supermarket/clothing shop. More like La Horde, but a good movie :) It's things like this that make me believe movies are something that will slowly disappear in favor of series and, most of all, interactive games. Hell, can you imagine the budget of a film that looked and felt like Dishonored?
i've seen many bad b movies. thank god i missed this one
@spoogeling the only guy the showed was "guy" and they implied he was going to refill the reverend mother's sperm tanks. I can't believe I just wrote that.
@JanB56 Really? Thank you! :)
@spoogeling a silly but entertaining favorite of mine
That apple in the air looks like it was re-used in Escape from LA
Megaforce was mega fun, I need to watch that movie again
@spoogeling ha! They kind of skipped over that part. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that when the apocalypse happened, the reverend mother was working at a sperm bank. Just a theory.
I seem to rremember this movie but by title of Pheonix the Warrior. Wore out 1 tape but was lucky to have it recorded.
@trachenburg That was it! thank you now I can get my own DVD copy of it! You think that'll be an episode on here!?
post apocalyptic movies are my favorite too. love your videos. you should do Judge Dredd.
All I remembered about this flick was the the TV Cult in the desert.
Never heard of it before but I'll check it out. It's got Kaley Cuoco in it? How did I miss this?!
MST3K FTW!
That definitely was a claptrap lol
Loved it
leather bikinis ftw
Being the only guy left alive doesn't sound too bad.
best part of the review the floating piece of cheese, also whats with all the young actors that die in car wrecks it's so sad for example the original yellow ranger in america
@dornravlin yeah, woman could easily replace us. Oh jeez sexmission is so bad. Yeah, I saw that one a few times. Where do I find these? I used to work next to a video store and every other night or so I would walk next door and rent whatever caught my eye. I saw tons of movies those few years. There's more to the story but not enough room to write here.
Can you or have you done the movie The Gate? It was one of my all time favs from the 80s
I think the reason with all the plastic in the throne room is Dexter must've been renting it out for his victims.
Mohave and apocalypse. FALLOUT NEW VEGAS
Have you seen Hell Comes to Frogtown? Look it up. You'll like it.
Wait. That's a UAS 12! It would do *way* more damage.
Someone contact George Miller for a reboot. Could you imagine how potentially good this film could be with a budget and good actors?

Six years later I watched this film for the first time and thought exactly the same thing. The premise of this film is really damn good. There's enough good things here to make a really good story in 2023.
@avidwriter oh, its bad but entertainingly bad
Starts at :34
I think I broke it lol best line
@csandreas I think the budget officially ran out then. lol
for some reason this makes me want to go watch cherry 2000
Megaforce: Deeds Not Scores
@BoooRatt I should have lol it just kind of ended up this way
I wish Claptrap was in this movie...
I watched this but can't remember it
Hey you seem to know a lot about these types of films! Can you help me figure this out!? There's this P-A movie I saw years ago in like the late 90s early 2000s it had a guy in it dressed like Buddy Holy wondering the desert with an electric guitar and a samurai sword and he's being chased by a demonic guy that looks like Slash from Guns&Roses!
Megaforce was great!
@trachenburg Make a theme month of it! XD
@csandreas lol seriously. The kids weren't nearly as annoying.

I love this movie. such a cult classic. campy but fun. plus I like female action hero's & Super hero's as much as males.
