She Woke Up Covered in Her Husband’s Blood

Melissa Oxley woke up to the sound of a shotgun blast. Her husband of two years had been killed in the middle of the night. Covered in blood with a $400,000 insurance policy at play, detectives began investigating the mourning wife and cold-blooded murder. Crimetastic breaks down the murder of Ben Oxley and the killer who had been lurking behind the scenes.

When Melissa was being interrogated and the cops were obviously suspecting her but she didn’t seem mad about it and just kept coming up with explanations….i thought for sure she was guilty. @stevenwynn7162 My 2nd apartment I lived in was in a huge complex and I lived on the third floor. One day I just got back from from the bar with some friends and I got out of the elevator on the 2nd floor instead of the third. I walked right into what I thought was my apartment and it took me a few seconds to even realize i was at the wrong apartment. It was a couple just sitting on the couch watching tv and he just said “wrong apartment bro” and I walked out apologizing. It wasn’t until a few months later where me and my girlfriend were eating dinner that someone walked into our apartment. The guy was shitfaced and when I told him to leave it took him a while to comprehend what I was saying or he was trying to be funny but ever since that day I always lock the door when I come home.

The way her voice would break at times, on the 911 call but then normalize to try to be calm for the little girl… the thumbnail had me thinking she was guilty but the emotion in her voice really got to me. This is pretty normal. I've been there. The dispatcher was on the phone with me for 45 minutes until help arrived. I remember moments of calm that washed over me, then I'd fall apart, then I'd get calm, over and over. It's weird. I think our mind does this to try to distance ourself from the horror of what we witness.

I remember the first time I heard that 911 call, my gut was telling me she was involved with her husband's murder. Even knowing the story, I still get ick vibes listening to it now. She knew someone shot her husband without seeing the person. Very weird indeed. The cops are going to try to pin it on the spouse almost every time. Never talk to them without an attorney, even if you are innocent. This case could have turned out very differently without the one minor break toward the real killer. Lots of guilty people are walking free and innocent people rotting in jail because the cops will try whoever they think is guilty with no real evidence if the DA allows it.
