Worst part is that it's believable. If Jesus still had the holes in His hands, feet and side after death, even though He was just as much God as He is man, then it's not too far-fetched to imagine that those who died don't also have the marks of what it was that ultimately did them in, assuming it wasn't natural forces. Then again, I've never died, so I couldn't say for certain. Death is a strange, and darkly fascinating thing.

When she told him that he'd be waking up soon and then she said that she loved him. That was the heaviest part for me. 😭 You did great. The dialogue and the music are a perfect combination to deliver the weight of her words.

This is what should have been the beginning of team Dark in Sonic Heroes, would have put to rest the PTSD and his heartache of Maria.

I have a soft spot for the whole tragedy of Project Shadow; this was a well-done story, believable to the nature of Maria and Shadow's characters as depicted back then. My hat's off to the actors involved: They sell on all points; even matching voices from that era very well! This was, hands down, a beautiful work!

Oh my god, Maria's voice actor did a flawless job. Made me tear up.

The latter, not quite. The former, yeah. Again, I never imagined I'd sympathize this much with someone like Shadow, even knowing his story.

The story of Shadow is honestly a Shakespeare-worthy tragedy. That's not something I can say too often about anything. Even knowing him for so long, I never thought he'd ever be this relatable of a character. Hope he's able to live a happy life. To the creator of this comic and to you guys who cast in it, bravo.

This is the real Shadow to me. A quiet and serious character with a tragic past who struggles to move on but has people that care for him by his side. An Anti-Hero that does what he believes is right by following Maria’s promise to protect Mobius/Earth and everyone on it. Rouge and Omega are his new family. Sonic is someone who can show him to enjoy life and help him get stronger. His relationship with Silver is like a Master & Student or the father figure the future freedom fighter never had. He can sympathize with someone like Blaze and Espio, as all are quiet heroes and prefer to stay serious most of the time. Black Doom, while being his evil biological dad, is an example of don’t let what you are or where you came from choose your destiny. Eggman, while being Gerald’s grandson, is still a threat and chose his path for evil long ago. Shadow rarely holds back against him so that he doesn’t let his relation to Ivo get in the way of his objective.

If only Sonic Heroes wasn’t rushed and based solely on gameplay but also story. I could really imagine sonic heroes having this as a cutscene for team dark. And I just gotta say how much I LOVE TEAM DARK. What they’ve been doing with them recently has been so underwhelming but they are my fav trio

Considering the fact it formed team dark which was the best thing to happen to shadow's character I'd give it a pass. Shadow actually is happy around his friends.

Shadow was always my favorite character and I remember feeling sorry for him. He lost his best friend on that fateful day. He sought revenge by teaming up with Eggman but in the end, he was reminded by Amy about his promise to Maria and helped Sonic defeat the Biolizard. He was then Awoken again to help Sonic and friends to defeat Metal Sonic, then he fought Black Doom, the being that gave him life and chose who he is. He would then confront Mephiles in a temple like area, Mephiles tried convincing Shadow to join him and even asked why he was bothering to fight for humans when they’ll just betray him. Shadow would then tell the dark being that he will continue to fight like he has over the years. Shadow The Hedgehog may be seen as edgy and etc, but Shadow is a character that’s been through some rough times or even worse but in the end, Shadow kept his promise to Maria and continues to do so. With that being said…All Hail Shadow! And continue to protect your friends and the world. But for now…rest easy Hero.

Since we are about to see Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, can you just imagine *this* being adapted to the movie?!💔😭

Not gonna happen. Shadow will either die (read - go comatose again) or choose to live on Ark and protect Earth from space. Those days I watched Shadow's old story (SA2, Heroes and 2006)and I got a view on his personality. Certainly he looks badass outside, he might seem evil just by his physical look. However the way he act seems more somebody that prefer to not stand out (in fact he is always behind Rouge, he will take action only if needed or to tease Sonic). He is easy to hurt, usually dehumanizing him or imply he is worthless or doubting his past. Then he won't snap, but he will be extremely sad (this is visible by his slouched posture. Yeah, since Shadow was characterized as a edgelord he is always standing tall but in his early days, unless he didn't cross his arms to hide his emotions and lookin arrogant, he was quite slouchy). He is more a follower than a leader.

This is so beautiful. As a Shadow fan, I cried. I ABOSOLUTLY HATE HOW SHADOW IS REPRESENDED BY SEGA, AND THIS COMIC SHOWS HOW HIS CHARACTER SHOULD BE DONE! Not to mention that voice over here is top notch. Well done

I almost cried when I watched this video.

I think he get's his memory back in his own game, but I know shadow is underused as a character in the games. He is only used as a reskin of sonic nowadays and it's saddening.

I keep on saying this a lot, but they need to give spinoff games to other characters in the Sonic franchise, they don’t all have to be big, but a lot of characters, including Shadow hold a lot of potential.

One of fictions most powerful characters, yet one of its most broken souls.

If it's Game Shadow then I agree with ya considering he's low multiversal in base and OP as shit when in his Super Form. But if its Archie Shadow then I'd stick with my original statement as whenever he and Sonic fight in the Archie Comics he either wins, makes Sonic retreat or is pressing an advantage before they're interrupted and we all know how OP Archie Sonic is.

@@ultrashadow9551 You know, Archie Sonic actually scaled down in terms of power as time passed, so by the time he first met Shadow, he was already far from his overpowered self that would run around the globe so fast he could touch his own shoulder to distract himself from running around the globe in the first place I'll give you that, Archie Shadow is absurdly overpowered still, but VG Shadow has never even been implied to be intergalactic in base form, let alone universal.

​​@@Eldoofuswhile I agree with you when it comes to Archie Sonic getting weaker over time (I myself use the pre genesis wave version of Archie Sonic as its the stronger version). VG Shadow is actually low multiversal in base, this is mainly because of Sonic And The Secret Rings in which Sonic was able to best Erazor Djin in his base form or at least contend with him after Erazor destroyed 1000 universes while at 1% of his life-force. And considering Shadow was able to fight Sonic evenly in Generations which takes place after Secret Rings he should at least be at that level and given how he has practically the same growth rate as Sonic he should be starting to approach mid multiveral by the time Forces came around.

Welcome to this burning hell hole of a fandom To understand how bad the game quality fell you have to do all of this: Go play all the classic games that are available on phone Go play Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 Watch a let's play of the canon/best ending of Shadow the Hedhog Go watch a let's play of Sonic Unleashed or play it yourself if you have a PS3 or An XBOX360 Play Sonic Coulours and Generations(good gameplay, terible story) Play Sonic Mania And then Pirate Sonic Forces or watch a let's play, don't waste Ur money on that shit And you'll see how first the story and then the quality of the gameplay decreased over the years

This is so beautiful😢. I'd love to see a scene like this in the 3rd Sonic movie. An interaction between Maria and Shadow when he dies has been something I thought about for a while, but that's only a dream.

Sonic's "SHADOW! " still gets me 🥺 he did so good on that scream

I actually shed tears during this. 😭 this was beautiful. To everyone who was involved with this, you all created this masterpiece. The music especially made me tear up.

I really love this comic, it feels like if the artist really care about the characters alot.

So much passion and emotion in this, I felt that

They both deserved so much better. Maria didn’t have to die, she was so young and full of life. Only at twelve years old. I get that despite her failing to go to earth with shadow, she sacrificed herself so shadow could go and fulfill her wish.

Are we also gonna mention how Shadow got woken up by who so happens to be Maria's evil psychotic cousin who bounds of turning the world into his mechanical empire and defeat a blue hedgehog who people mistook Shadow for?

I am crying right now that was an emotional roller coaster. Imagine the sonic movie three being like this, but I got to say it was a really good comic and would be good for inspiration for the movie I could see this happening!

This hurt so much and i ended up crying near the end... i love it so much, you guys did really well voicing them, this story just gets me every time... and i hadn't even thought that maybe Shadow did see Maria just before he woke up. Maybe the shock of it all made him forget until he recovered enough to remember.

I can't believe I'm crying. My best friend died and this video touched me. Shadow deserves happiness and love

I like how they how the made this comic continue into the story arc of team shadow in sonic heroes

What’s sad is how Shadow will never remember this encounter if it happened in canon. Cause SEGA ruined his character by giving him amnesia for no reason. Still, beautiful comic and really good voice work.

I can't honestly imagine waking up from a coma where you have a discussion with a dead friend/relative; only to be greeted with a barrage of bullets and a loud alarm system.

noo noo this is too sad and too good I actually shed tears. this was a truly heart-wrenching scene connecting the end of SA2 and the beginning of Sonic Heroes (if I got the games right because I never played; only researched). And the way Maria was always looking out for Shadow, worrying over him and crying for him gosh these 2 have such a relationship I can't help but admire and respect

I seriously must've watched this video over 100 times. I just love everything about it. The voice acting, the tone, the atmosphere, and the delivery are all perfect. I actually thought, at one point, that the score in the background was a classical composition. I found out later that it was from Re:Zero and a very emotional scene as fate would have it. I've become a big fan of their friendship, and I wish we got a properly executed Shadow the Hedgehog game that could fully take place in the 50 years prior to the main series. I hope the third movie does their relationship justice.

I literally almost have this same idea with Maria talking to Shadow. My idea was to make a stroy after either SA2 or Heroes, completely rewriting the entrie Sonic 06. My idea was to make Silver in the same alternate universe that Blaze the Cat is in, with other exceptions of characters with Silver and Blaze, and a alternate version of Maria that actually a yellow Hedgehog (got this idea from fan art of Maria as a hedgehog) from Silver and Blaze world. I was gonna make it where Maria (Hedgehog) goes into Sonic World and she keeps dreaming or having Visions of Shadow the Hedgehog. The idea with this was to have the dead Maria Robotnik memories and soul collide with Maria the Hedgehog. The Shadow in my version has the Amnesia, with him questioning himself on who he is. Pretty much how he was in Shadow the Hedgehog. And then I have Maria the Hedgehog (with Maria Robotnik soul in her) helping Shadow on recovering his lost memories. Watching this fan made comic makes me want to see this be Canon to thr actual games.

But , as I mentioned is that Maria the Hedgehog comes into Sonic World, which is being caused by a phenomenon, Maria the Hedgehog still does get visions of Maria Robotnik memories. But on some occasions, Maria Robotnik talks with Maria the Hedgehog and moments where Maria Robotnik takes control of Maria the Hedgehog mind. This is manly for Shadow and Maria story moment.

Amazing beautiful comic this was so touching.
