I absolutely loved this song as a kid when it came out in 1981. It was her immediate follow-up to "Angel of the Morning", which you reacted to previously. Next up should be "The Sweetest Thing (I've Ever Known)", "Love's Been a Little Bit Hard on Me", and her stirring rendition of a Brenda Lee song, "Break It To Me Gently". And if you're wondering - her birth name is Judith Kay Newton, she was born in Lakehurst, NJ, she just turned 70 this past February, and yes, she's still going!

This version of "The Sweetest Thing (I've Ever Known)": kzread.info/dash/bejne/mXig19SOqKfOdJc.html There's a bad version with a weird sounding violin instead of the amazing oboe. I'm trying to steer them to the correct version. Also, no live versions. 🙂

That's funny...I hated this song as a kid. I was born in 1978, and I remember loathing the chorus of this song from before I was in kindergarten. This and "If I Had a Hammer." It's probably because my mom used to play certain songs on repeat endlessly for months without ever tiring of them. But yeah, this song's chorus is very unpleasant to me.
Juice Newton was one of my mom’s favorites. I can’t hear Juice without thinking about her. Miss you Mom.

Other great Juice Newton songs are "Love's Been A Little Bit Hard On Me" "The Sweetest Thing I've Ever Known" and "Break It To Me Gently". Also, I liked her version of Bonnie Tyler's "It's A Heartache" as well

If we've talking Bonnie Tyler, my favourite song of hers (by far) is "Lost in France" (kzread.info/dash/bejne/mX9htbiLaJm6mLw.html). I was only 9 when I heard it but was captivated. It was before she suffered vocal chord damage - not that it stopped her career. She made the best use of her 'new' husky voice 🙂 Her other songs are amazing as well. I'd never heard of Juice Newton before (but I am in the UK) but obviously I'll check out more of her music.

Juice was a star of the time, never understood how she gets overlooked in the canon of music history. My mom loved her, so I grew up with her music. Streaming is awesome in so many ways, but I kind of miss the era of records, cassettes, and CDs. We got exposed to whole albums from the past through our families.
I love Juice Newton. I would love to see y'all react to Jim Croce Time in a Bottle . Its a song he wrote for his son before his accident. It is beautiful. The sweetest thing was a great Juice Newton song

Juice Newton was the queen of early 1980's country music.
I met her in the early 80's. She was sitting on the steps of her tour bus visiting and signing autographs. Very gracious and speaking to everyone that approached. Never been a great fan of this type of music but her show was quite awesome.
She has a good sense of humor, and it's also a big part of her "Love's Been a Little Bit Hard on Me" music video too....I prefer Hard/Heavy Rock..but Juice Newton is a country singer I have in my collection 👍👍

I loved when this would come on the radio. As a 10 yr old kid, this always had me dancing!
Gotta do some Sheena Easton....she crossed genres and was an amazing talent that never got enough recognition. Also, Expose and some Angelina Jordan...you've done one of Angelina, but she has sooooo many AMAZING covers out...definitely a prodigy and one of the greatest vocalists in years
My favourite female country artist ! I love her live in concert ! Thank you ! More of her PLEASE !!!!!
Love Juice! I sing this song a lot at karaoke. Fun song! If you like her, you should give a listen to her song, Break It To Me Gently. It will SLAY you!! My favorite of hers!
Please react to her rendition of "Break It To Me Gently", so beautiful and really showcases her powerful voice!! Love your hair, Amber!!
There was a time when people kept a case or two of blank Maxell tapes, and recorded favorite albums to play in the car. "Juice" was one of those albums. The tape is long gone, but the LP is still sitting on my shelf downstairs. In 1981 I had a new job with a really long commute to work and "Juice" was one I played over and over. "Queen of Hearts" was quite popular and got tons of radio play. Also, the video was a hit on MTV. I love country rock, and her voice is wonderful. However, as well as this one did as a single, there is even better work on that album. Your next one should be "The Sweetest Thing (I've Ever Know)." Very beautiful exposed country rock flavor, and a chorus to rip your heart out.

A great comment, Janice.
"I Love A Rainy Night" by Eddie Rabbit has a kickin' country vibe similar to this. Also from the early 80's like this.
"Love's Been A Little Bit Hard On Me"! Fun song with great vocals and a hilarious video. Everything you love about this is back and equally great in that song. "Break It To Me Gently" is great too but that might also open the door for Brenda Lee to step through with the original version.
Juice Newton also did a duet with Eddie Rabbitt called "Both To Each Other (Friends And Lovers)". If you haven't done a reaction to Eddie Rabbitt please check him out. Some of his songs you should check out are "I Love A Rainy Night" "Step By Step" and "Drivin' My Life Away". Eddie Rabbit also did a duet with Crystal Gayle (Loretta Lynn's sister) "You And I".

Got to meet her through my fifth grade teacher in 1984. She was Juice Newtons cousin.
Love Juice Newton. Loved this whole album. She's on the fringes of country pop rock and folk. Juice invites you to have fun and join in. She's got a fun sence of humor.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Juice Newton has such talent with her vocal range. Fan forever.
I met her at a record shop I worked at in the late '70's in Eugene. Very nice lady.
Great song
Both of Juice Newton's recordings you've reacted to were covers. This one was written by steel guitarist Hank DeVito who backed Emmylou Harris for many years. Dave Edmunds was the first to record this song in 1979. Juice's 1980 cover was already certified gold when it peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
😮 What a pleasant surprise seeing you guys reacting to this song which I’ve always loved. For me personally I think it’s one of the catchiest and infectious songs I’ve ever heard. The selection of instruments and how they’re arranged evokes the imagery of a train chugging down the musical rails with Juice Newton as the conductor of this musical locomotive. With her beautiful voice she can convey a story through song, whether it be a beautiful, romantic ballad “Angel Of The Morning” or this fun and impossible to resist song “Queen Of Hearts”. I loved both of your comments because they were honest and reflective of what makes this song hard to resist. Since you both enjoyed this Juice Newton song I really hope you guys seriously consider reacting to Juice’s song and video for “Love’s Been A Little Bit Hard On Me”. Would love to see and hear what you guys have to say about that song and video 😊
My favorite Juice Newton song is "In the Heart of the Night." It's soooo good!!

Same here, it's great.
It sounds like baritone vocals in the background during the chorous.
Taking me way back to 5th grade when this song and music videos were new. This is her best and most upbeat song.
I bought this on 45. It was my first time I ever bought a record with my own money. I was in 4th grade. Love this.
The Sweetest Thing is a very slow ballad where she shows off her vocal power.
My FAVORITE song by Juice, this got stuck at #2 but should have been a #1 SMASH!!!
My band covered this in 1981. For our own entertainment, we sang "Queen of Farts". The audience never heard the difference.
I've always loved this song since I first heard it when I was a kid. One of my favorite pop-country tracks. I'm glad JN is still getting attention and respect.
Ya'll know that this song was the closest thing Juice did to rock-a-billy,in fact when this came out in 1981 i remember the DJ's calling this rock-a-billy and it makes sense as this is a nearly verbatim cover of the 1979 original by U.K. retro-rocker & rock-a-billy singer Dave Edmunds. This song was written by Emmylou Harris' pedal steel guitarist from her back-up band The Hot Band Mr. Hank De Vito.
Shot full of love and come a little closer with the pointer sisters.wouls be great to see a reaction . I also just found out she collaborated with them on I'm so excited and jump.
back in the early 80's there was a place in Downtown Orlando called "Apple Annie's" Juice Newton appeared there and she had a long-forgotten opening act. When she came on with her band, you could tell the difference between the amateur and professional performer. She is excellent...and a real professional.
I love juice Newton. I saw her in concert..🥰 also my mom I listened to her in the car all the time.
She's one of my favourites. I had two of her albums and played them so much!! She has so many good songs. Break it to me Gently is my all time favourite of hers.
My mother was a huge fab of Juice Newton when I was a kid, so I heard a lot of her music. This was definitely one of my favorites, but my top favorite of hers, and my recommendation this time, is "Love's Beeb a Little Bit Hard on Me." It's just such a fun song, even more so than this one. I know you guys will love it!
I roller skated to this and Elvira a lot as a kid in the early mid eighties
You've GOT to add to your list, Little Bit Town "Pontoon" before the summer ends!!!
As a kid I'd hear this come on the radio and I was a happy camper on a road trip to grandma's house 2 states away.
I love this song! A huge hit in 1981! I drive through her hometown at least once a week-Lakehurst, New Jersey.
Dave Edmunds was the first to record this, he's a great Rock & Roll artist and one of my favorites, but I do prefer Juice Newton's version mostly because I think her voice suits it better. Written by Hank DeVito from Emmylou Harris's backing band.

Albert is one of these musicians who always seems to turn up where great music is going on.

She’s from my hometown area, specifically Virginia Beach! This was my first favorite song that wasn’t aimed at kids. Still love it!
As I'm listening I get this memory of being a kid, riding around the neighborhood with friends on our bikes (literally riding through our yards), with this song blaring on someone's portal radio wedged into my bike basket and the girls singing along at the top of our lungs. 😆
takes me back
You need to get back to some Sade for Female Friday! Your Love Is King, Sweetest Taboo, No Ordinary Love… and many more. She was the Queen of smooth R&B along with Anita Baker.
Saw her once in concert in the mid 90's, and man, what a voice and stage presence! Delivered to us more than we expected.
