So glad y'all finally checked out this song -- one of my favorites from my '70s childhood! Fun fact: Lead singer wrote this song about one night traveling with the band and looking for the old, iconic Holiday Inn sign!

I love that old holiday inn sign too with all the individual incessant light bulbs. Was just telling my kids I wish I could go swimming at a holiday inn holodome pool.

I didn't realize that was the inspiration. Takes me back to my childhood, vacation days. Almost always stayed at a Holiday Inn, dad would request first floor, pool side.

I've loved this track ever since it was a hit in the UK in the autumn of 1976. I was 11/12 at the time.

Absolutely no doubt about that. I pity todays kids and the awful dross they are fed.
Terrific record! Blues-rock band from England. "Couldn't Get It Right" was Climax Blues Band's biggest hit peaking @ #3 in 1977.
The band wrote this song in an evening when their manager said their upcoming album didn't have any hit singles.

Their label was on the verge of dropping the band, and then this hit saved them.
ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME
We had such awesome music back in the day! I love watching you guys enjoy this music too!
There will never be another music era like the 60's 70's and 80's. So many songs have lasted the test of time.
Boy, this takes me back. Those days were fun back then. Love your show.

This great 70's song brings back so many memories. Thank you.
A song I've been wondering why no reactors have been told they needed to check out. It's hard to distinguish between the sax and guitar at the end. One of my favorites from the late 70s. ❤️

Takes me back when I didn't have a care in the world and was just learning about and living the best life. Now turning 60 and wanting to go back to those days. I close my eyes and go back with this song. Smiling !! Thanks for sharing. Blessings !

Another terrific band that played during the same time was "Atlanta Rhythm Section." From their name, you might think them a Southern Rock band, but their music was a lot closer to that of Steely Dan of The Doobie Bros, rather than The Marshall Tucker Band. Some of their hits include "I'm Not Gonna Let it Bother Me Tonight," “So Into You,” “Spooky,” and “Imaginary Lover," but I was always a fan of their song "Champagne Jam."

Yet ANOTHER British band,d from Staffordshire,England. I always got a bluesy, funky soulful vibe from this. Saw them in the mid 70’s at Brunel Uni where they supported Uriah Heep!
I love that you both are continuing to discover things tunes and bands that have been part of my musical DNA for close to five decades. Really enjoy your show.

I’m 69 now so lived the whole thing. I consider myself to be blessed. The only downside? That I’m not 19 in ‘73 again.
I had a real hard time believing this was a British band for the longest time. They knocked this song out of the park... it's one of those where you'll hear on the radio in the spring and you'll still be humming it when winter rolls around.
I was hoping they would notice at 2:33 when he sings the word "drown" .. my favorite part of the song .. amazing how the singer makes his low end growl or whatever you would call that .. LOL .. love that!
I was a junior in HS when this song was out. My friends and I loved it! But imagine having this great groove then having Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Gordon Lightfoot, Crosby, Nash and Young - just to name a few of the hundreds of artists playing on the radio into your teenage brain!! I really love that classic 70s music. I don't think I appreciated it that much back as much as I do now in my 60s. Great reaction from you both! ❤❤
This song came out when I was 14 in 1977. The best era for rock and and so many other genres. Such a catchy, funky tune. I haven't heard it is many years. Still sounds great.
I haven't heard this song in forever...you made me smile today ❤
You hit the trifecta tonight. This one takes me back to high school and its cool groove. Keep up the good work.
Here’s a story for you. I met Derek Holt (guitarist from CBB) singing in a bar in Puerto Pollensa Majorca last year. He has a spot on Sunday evening’s and he packs the bar to the rafters. Great night. Brilliant singer and guitarist and a really nice and humble guy
It’s so much fun to see the younger generation enjoy the music.
They started in 1967 as the Climax Chicago Blues Band (from Engkand, not Chicago, just Chicago style blues), droppingbthe Chicago in 1972. They still exist though 3 of the 6 founders have passed away. None of the members on this song are in the current line up. This song was from 1976.
This one rode the airwaves, often, every day back then.
I don’t think I have heard this great song since it was popular. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories!
Always thought this would be a great one for Lenny Kravitz to cover. Perfect for his vocal delivery.

YES! as far as influences i am thinking Sly And The Family stone. but i could be wrong!
I love your continued journey through he 70s, can wait for you guys to react to HAMILTON,JOE FRANK AND REYNOLDS
HEY guys this is from the summer of '77 other songs from that year Peter Frampton I'm in you Johnny Rivers Slow Dancing (swaying to the music Barry Manilow Looks like we made it Marvin Gaye Got to give it up Fleetwood Mac Don't Stop keep up the great work guys.
Climax Blues Band are from my home town of Stafford in the UK and I knew the lead singer/sax player Colin Cooper (R.I.P.) well. Great to see that you've reviewed this song, it was their big hit in the UK. They were essentially a blues band and played lots in the The States in their heyday. Actually they were probably better known in The States than they were in the UK, even though they were a British band.
It's cowbell for sure but the player nay have softened it with a bit of fabric inside or, more likely, held it with a couple fingers pressed on the side to numb the ringing sound.
Haven't heard this song in a long time.
Fabulous UK Band - great funky track - you should try also - Stretch : Why did you Do it - it's in a very similar vein.
I really LOVE when you guys react to music from the 70's. This song especially is so funky & groovy, you can't help but move to the beat. You may want to check out Brother Louie by The Stories, this song is also funky and has a great storyline ❤❤❤❤
The song is about touring in the states, and getting lost. Derek Holt, the one who sang I love you is bass player and high background vocals Colin Cooper lead singer plays saxophone also. great tune!!
, Derek Holt explained that the song was "just a lucky moment in time", and that it is about being on the road in America. The chorus "kept on looking for a sign in the middle of the night" referred to searches for Holiday Inn signs, the sight of which meant that beds had been found for the night. When the band's career first started in America, they used to fly everywhere, in some cases involving up to three flights just to get to one place. Their itineraries meant that getting to any one place was difficult and involved arriving in a town, getting into a car, getting to the gig just in time to perform the sound check, performing the gig, re-entering the car and then looking for a bed in the middle of the night...Pete Haycock sang the song and he wasn't the lead singer but the Sax player on this song and died in 2013 of a heart attack he was 63
Was in High School when this tune hit the charts Many moons ago Best of memories-
Love this song and the cowbell makes it even better
I LOVE the lead singer's voice. I always call it the ultimate "70's Cool White Boy" voice :). Great song and great vibe!
I like these 2 people, looks like they really enjoy life
Wow, I haven’t heard this in forever. I was 15 when this came out. Thanks Jay and Amber for this treat! I loved hearing it again! ❤️
I was lucky to see them twice, once on the way up and then later on the way down. They absolutely rocked both times, just a fabulous live band who really could play, I miss those days. ✌️
One of my favorite songs of all time. 70's rock at it's best!
This popped into my head today, and glad to see your reaction to it. This was when FM Adult Contemporary (Billboard 100) stations started taking over from AM Top 40 staitions. One of those song you just find yourself keeping time to without realizing it.
The Bee Gee's like backing vocals really add to the sound. Great tune. ☮💜🎶
Nice song. One of just 2 top 40 hits
I'm so happy I grew up in this era..some of the greatest music...you guys need to catch up..and they still sound great
I'm in my seventies. Couldn't help but chair dance to this great song that I love. I appreciate y'all.
Yet another in a long line of great reaction videos! I love not only the songs you choose, but how each of you reacts to the music and how you interact with each other. ♥️ Great content, great couple, you always bring a smile to my face. Mission accomplished. 👍
Yes! Memories by the lake under the stars, and a fire going... Damn!!! Memories rule!!! ✌️👍🏻😉
These guys are awesome too, people are feeding you great groups to react to! So glad you are having fun!👍 We are too!!👏👏
I never knew the name of this band, but I recognize that chorus. Probably haven't heard it since I was little.
and thats the magic of the 70s...you folks are lovely
2:30 The whole song is awesome but that growl with “so deep I coulda drOWWWned” is just the best part.
It's a groovy, funky song! Makes you want to shake your whole body!
Oh my GOD! I’ve been watching you guys for over a year now! Can you IMAGINE growing up when all this sh!t was on the RADIO!!! Peace
Such a good skate song Had so much fun
This brings me back to the 70's school bus. we had a cool driver that played rock radio for us.
Jay and Amber love this song .
So much great music in the 70's, so many different styles
The night I got home to Indianapolis from Germany in May 1977 my brother picked me up at the airport and we went to see Climax Blues Band and Ted Nugent. It was a great welcome home.
Omg i was 8 when this came out...the great 70s as a kid!
Blues with great soulful r and b sound. Tight band!
This is one of my top 3 songs of all time. Pure FUNK!
Yes,, you are right,, "The Block" has a similar sound to the "Cowbell"
check out "Dont Stop" by Yarborough & Peoples and "Oops Upside your Head" by the Gap Band - pure irresistible funk!!
So glad you finally got to this groove. Fall 1977.
This always makes me think of being a little kid. It was popular when I was about nine years old. Love the reaction, as always! Peace!💗
My favorite little snippet is where he says getting down so deep I could've drowned. How low his voice goes on the word drowned
"Soft Rock like Cream & Bread..." 😮😮 First time those 2 words were ever in a sentence that wasn't about pudding. 😂😂
Growing up in Mississippi, I lived near a juke joint that played this song all the time. How I miss those days.
This song was everywhere in 1977. I tried to escape it, and I failed. Now 45 years later, here it is again?
I was a kid when this came out and I just loved it. I always played it on the juke box at the bowling alley. The older I get, the more I miss those day. Good one, y'all!
Another great song from those times, this song came on and the volume went up, always sang along with this.😎🍺
70's was the BEST of times for music! I was blessed to grow up in that era!!!!!!
Managed to see this band just before the covid lockdown. they are still great!
Never knew who did this, but I've always loved it!
One of my top 10 all time, without question...
I Love You of Climax blues band is one of my favorite.
That's a muted cowbell Jay....Horns...No horns... that's guitars Amber!...lol!
Great great band, great times!!!
I absolutely LOVE this one! Very catchy.I remember when this was on top 40 radio.
Watching you guys react to the 60s and 70s is so fun for me!!
Cowbell! I was 10 when this was released, and 46 years later I *still* crank it up when it comes on. It's just one of those songs that never gets old!
Y’all are great! My favorite, the best reaction channel! I love this song, I haven’t heard it since I was a teenager seems like. Forgot all about it. Thanks!

This is about as groovy as it gets. Great song choice.
Wow. I remember this song from the radio when I was young. Never knew who sang it so I had no idea what to expect when I clicked on this video.
Awesome!! How could anyone sit still when listening to this?
Janis joplin The early years 1963-65 . You'll love it Amber! Raw, uncut, fabulous. 🦘🦘🦘

Have to tap your hands or feet listening to it 🙂
Saw them play this in 1975, at an outdoor concert in Germany along with Ike and Tina Turner and Mahavishnu Orchestra.
i loved this song so much back in the day that i bought the album.
My absolute favorite by this group! Thanks for reacting ❤
Released (1976) typical 70’s banger 🔥🔥🔥 ….boy, we’re we spoiled ! Wish I could re-live ❤️
This is the first time I have listened to the studio version of this song in a long, long time...as in decades! I've watched the live version lots of times here on KZread. One thing I noticed listening this tonight was that the bass player is REALLY working that instrument during the chorus! Thanks for posting and bringing back some good memories. Yes, I was a teenager growing up in the 70's.
