That Sharpie pen was my go-to pen for years before I discovered fountain pens. That said, my current favorite non-fountain pen pen is the Paper Mate Ink Joy. I also try to limit the number of disposable things in my life (in general, not just pens.) and the fact you can't refill the Sharpie pen is a big bummer.

You should've mentioned that the Sharpie Permanent marker has alcohol based ink which will bleed through almost every substrate. The only paper types that it won't bleed through and show through are those with a barrier inside the paper like Crescent RENDR paper and Canson The WALL papers. The Sharpie Pen has a pigment based ink which I would guess is more similar to pigment liners like Sakura PIGMAs and other technical drawing pens.

Sharpie pen doesn't bleed through like the sharpie marker does. The pen also doesn't smear when highlighted

The Sharpie pen is a marvel when writing on very smooth paper. I use Bazic's legal pads and I feel like I'm writing on a white board. Contrast with more coarse paper and it starts to get the gritty texture of a proper felt tip. Can't say I prefer that writing experience over a smooth glide, but I suppose it's nice to know for the strange people who want a more "felt tip" experience, use course grain paper, and if you want a smooth writing experience get the waxy smooth paper.

Thanks for sharing, great review. The Sharpie Pen is my favorite, I use it for everything. I find it more smooth and helps my writing look better compared to an actual ink pen.

The main difference...Marker 0.5 mm is the smallest marker vs Pen 0.4 mm Pen One size fits all. Marker versus pen... they clearly have different purposes... Obviously enough I would think...🙂👍🏻😍

Have you tried writing with the sharpie pen on plastic surfaces? I'm curious about the inks in each thing. I've used sharpies for years and know they still dry onto and not wipe off a plastic or metal surface but the pen idk. Looked your video up bc I'm compiling an art kit for a friend and was suggested the sharpie pen vs more expensive art pens. Thanks!

Water proof..?? Fisher space pen , comes to mind. Write in rain pens ?? I really haven't thought about that part..

Aren't both of these really plastic point pens? It's not felt like a broader point marker. Its a permeable fine plastic rod that wicks ink to the tip.

Good video. The company should do a much better job showing the differences. Im on the sesrch for the perfect pen.

Ha yea. Couldn’t have put it better

3:49 ..at the base of the Pen, there is a lite band, with FINE print on it. Don't care for Fine Point, cause I have a heavy writing hand...and I would eventually press, mushroom the tip quickly. I am still looking for another brand of Pen , that is more enviro-friendly...I dispose of about 5 sharpie med stylo pens a week easily ....MY BAD.
