    This is perfect for me as I am considering a part-time sharpening business, thank you! Unless you know someone in the business you don't get to sit in their shop and see how they run it so this is actually very educational. I would love to come and sit in person for 4 hours and ask a million questions while you work, LOL You'd probably kick me out after 30 minutes... Is that the Harbor Freight 1 X 30 painted orange and has flames? Please tell me: What is your van setup? What are the grit progressions on the machines you are using there? Why do you choose blade in to the belt rather than away? Do you use those same machines to do most scissors? What brand of angle jig (guide) are you using and what angle are they set to? What kind of strop belt is that? What are you spraying to clean with in the large blue spray bottle - is that alcohol or just water? I had to stop at 45 minutes but will be back to see in chunks. Sorry if I asked any questions already answered later on in the video... Great Job!

    I really appreciate your enthusiasm and your questions are all the "right ones" to ask. I plan to do this again next Saturday and from youtube instead of facebook so resolution should be crisper and better camera angle. Ill take questions as they come while streaming.

    @@CurryCustomCutlery Thanks much I will try to watch that. Sorry for so many questions, I had just stumbled across the video and hadn't realized so many of my questions were answered later, or that you have videos explaining them in detail on your channel (like your van tour video- WOW!) I'm just blown away by the speed and people like me who use stones know what i mean. I even have a Wicked Edge system and it has it's place but I can't crank em out like that...It's an art as much as a craft!

    Hello, new to the sharpening hobby and a new sub and customer (just ordered some belts). Your content is super educational. I have no idea why I found this live stream so interesting, then again I'm still watching at over 2 hrs. into it. 🙂

    Mannn, you are literally doing what i love! I have been sharpening any kind of bladed objects since i was 7yrs old and my grandpa taught me how to use an old oil-stone lol i am now 43 and own well over 1,000 high quality knives in my collection and at any given time you can pick up any one of them and whittle a hair with literally any of them... I sharpen all my friends knives for free and recondition their rusted mistreated knives but i have always dreamt about starting a small side business doing what i love and make a little money to replace belts and stones....

    Thank you, the motor is a now discontinued 1/2hp Penn State motor. They do offer a 3/4hp but its $50 more at $170. I had adapter plate kits n stuff make up n everything to help others build their own before the original motor stopped being available. 2021 gonna have some new surprises for people! ;)

    Yeah people compliment on the van, take pics n videos. Even had Japan TV show do interview which was very cool. Its cozy and when it rains no problems. I do feel like a magician alot. I laughingly call alot of the repairs low hanging miracles because to them they seem amazing. Hope to see you next Sat Hawaii time from 7-11am

    Aloha Doug, since doing that first live stream Ive gotten asked alot about all that so I have plans to do a quick run down video. Basically its a device called an Isolator to keep the vehicle battery separate from the two 6v golf kart batteries is series. Only when vehicle is running does it allow them both on same circuit to allow for charging. Lighting is all LED: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J4ZKGF4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JUE9OLM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    @@CurryCustomCutlery thanks for that info. Those lights a perfect for my grinder cabinet. One is in the cart right now. Also looking forward to the van tour. Thanks for all you share with the sharpening community. Maybe a piece of felt solder heat shield would be good for catching the sparks from you multi tool and keep the neighbors smiling.

    Machines are setup so material isnt really moving towards my face and I do wear glasses often and when doing stuff where particles are flying off in large amounts on the bigger machine. Its hard at the market because dealing with people and close up work at same time. Ill try to remember and show my glasses next week during stream! Thank you! Also I have front windows open behind me(camera side) and 2 small fans blowing out n towards the back. I also wear mask for larger grinds even before covid. Truck has a vacuum setup inside as well just dont like the noise so use it between gigs.

    Which color scotch brite belt do you use for typical clean up? Can't tell if that's red or tan.

  • @CurryCustomCutlery

    @CurryCustomCutlery

    Жыл бұрын

    I tend to use the red for satin finish and clean up. The tan is very aggressive but settles down in is great for rust removal

    Great video! I watched it from start to finish. Maybe next time you could change the camera angle, lower I think. For example the scissors at about 20 minutes, can't see them being sharpened on the first machine.

    Most of the machines and builds get covered in my regular videos. These tend to be a basic 1x30 harbor freight type unit that I swap out the motor to variable speed for and attach an angle guide we offer on our website listed in the description above.
