We celebrated what would have been the 79th Earthday of Mr Robert Nesta Marley. We speak with his eldest daughter and a 3x Grammy winner, Sharon Marley, about her music career as a part of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, memories of her father and her new music, including a big track with Reggae Legend Big Youth.
Sharon Marley (formerly Prendergast) is a Jamaican singer, dancer, and curator. She is the biological daughter of Rita Marley and was adopted by Bob Marley when the two married. She was in the Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers group with her younger sister and brothers. With the group, she has won three Grammy awards.
Sharon's commitment to education and advocacy shines through her roles at the Bob Marley Museum, the Rita Marley Foundation and as A&R for the newly formed Ghetto Youth United record label. The Marley family's global impact was celebrated with the 2023 Reggae Icon Award from the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association JaRIA.

Sharon Pendergast, not Marley. She's not Bob Marley's daughter. When Bob met Rita, Sharon was already born.

She is by adoption. Bob adopted her and gave her his name. He is probably the only father she knows.

I know many people who didn’t give birth to children BUT you could NEVER say the ones they claim are not their own! Bob Marley adopted Sharon when she was soooooo young! #Lovesign #OneLove

Also Pendergast is the name of her husband - she was married to him.
She should tell her mother that it was wrong for not giving the the band members their royalties for all the hard work they put forward to make the wailers what it was. Familyman was the backbone of the band. It’s a shame. RIP brother.😮

Why when bob paid some of the members debts and even how rude and nasty they were to Rita then not even come to the funeral but want money
