SHARK RESCUE

Shark day at OCN - due to low oxygen levels following an algae bloom in the Walvis Bay Lagoon, lots of fish and sharks and stingrays were struggling to breathe and were beaching themselves. It is a natural occurrence but could very well be accelerated by environmental factors such as climate change. These animals were at risk of both - suffocation as well as being caught by locals for consumption. The team successfully shuttled 14 sharks and stingrays back to the open ocean, about 15 km away from where we found them.
Tony needed a little trip to the doctor after a disagreement with a stingray. He is okay, and so is Tony. The doctor gave him a plaster for his finger, and everything has healed up very nicely by now. 🦭

@@PacMonster0 I mean, it doesn't if you actually read it and don't miss out words. They're not *generally* lethal. I would imagine that yes, knife wounds are not generally lethal either. I have cut my fingers with knives numerous times in the past and none killed me or required hospitalisation. Your post made it seem like every encounter required rapid medical attention or you'd end up like Steve Irwin. Generally, stingray stings are not fatal. Steve was hit in a very particular way, that killed him. This doesn't mean you shouldn't get it checked out medically, they're poisonous and they often leave debris behind in the wound (which obviously has the chance of getting infected) but you're overstating it by bringing up steve's death, being stabbed in the heart is quite different than being stabbed in the hand or arm and it's not difficult to tell the difference between the two. It is pretty similar to saying "you don't fuck around with knife wounds I know someone who died" and then getting offended if someone points out the vast majority of knife wounds probably just require a bandaid. Although again a stingray stab is not a knife wound it's an intentional attack and is more complicated, you should probably get it looked at medically, let's just not overstate it.

Tony couldn't help but get a little scratch in on the first shark. Shark babies are pups too so an, "It's okay puppy", would not have been out of place. Fearless Dylan to the rescue! You are fit for a role model, Dylan. I’m going to show this to my grandson, maybe you teach him something. Thanks so very much, OCN, for rescuing these stranded animals, especially the sting ray, I thought she was a goner. And I’m so sorry the other one cut Antoine, I hope he doesn’t hurt for long.

You are all so amazing. You find sharks and a stingray in trouble, capture them, take them to another beach and release them. Then go back and find more to save. Then go back and find more to save. This must have been a tiring rescue operation but also euphoric (as demonstrated by Chelsea, I loved her reaction!) and self-satisfying. Well done to all and thank you!
