Those guys didn't remove it, a fisherman did. He didn't film it and he actually got in the water to do it. BBC radio did a 1 hour interview with him. This is the same beluga that has been playing with and fetching phones for tourists.

I think they TRIED but couldn't. because they reach for the clip, and every time the beluga makes a duck dive away and they cant reach for it. they also had the knife ready to cut the harness, but the beluga was too afraid. and with his history, there's no wonder why the beluga is afraid of humans...

Why is this whale harnessed to begin with? There can be no good explanation. When did they 'remove the harness'?

I'm glad I kept forwarding. At least I did not completely waste my time. Just like the many comments here, nope, they did not remove the harness in the video. Maybe they did after, but not in this video.

Sry no :), it let go of the fish at the end because he wanted something else to eat other then fish. The way he quickly let go of it and swam away is a sign of disappointment.

How did it have a harness on it? It's not someone's pet. Seems quite friendly surprisingly. Are they usually in these waters in Norway?

These fishermen must see belugas on a regular basis. Not much of a reaction from them when a beluga happened to casually swim up to their boat. Whereas if it was almost anyone else they would be like, "WOW! Omg look at that! This is sooo unbelievable!"

It was probably once a GPS tracking device. The harness will rot away and break off after time.

Animal communication 101: send a clear image in your mind if taking the harness off. Then the beluga knows your intention. Does anyone know how a wild beluga came to have a harness on? Jacque Cousteau is rolling over in his grave!!

The whale is use to people, the men aren't fisherman, and the harness is for attaching research equipment, to study beluga behavior. No harnesses were hurt during the making of this video.
