    Trust me, shark fishing is not a hobby, it's an addiction, you get cheaper reels like a penn senator 9/0 and go offshore for them, have a blast and fish that until you hook something you can't turn, then u upgrade to a peen squall 50vsw or a tld 50 and have a blast, you can fish that for a while, but eventually you're going to want something bigger, something to catch every fish in the ocean, you'll get an avet, a makiara, and international, a tiagras or another main brand full metal trolling reel of a 50-80w size range and by then you'll be several thousand dollars into ur shark fishing setup, while you will absolutely have the time of your life fight those big hammerheads and what not, you'll also need to pull a mortgage out for some gear, I highly recommend y'all who haven't try it do it, cons it can be expensive, but it's more fun that riding dirt bikes, start with a 6/0 or a 9/0 senator and have a blast, sitting in the car rn after promoting my 30 year old penn senator 6/0 to a new reel knowing damn well i wont use it for sharks when i have my avet 50 spread lol, i highly recommend this hobby

    Hi there, I just bought a TRX80w/2 & have a lovely custom landbased shark rod that I got cheap cos it just has no butt (takes a size #4 butt). Should I get straight butt, bent butt or adjustable butt? and what length do I need? I imagine I need a straight butt, but do I get the short type, or long type, to go on my Black Magic Equalizer harness setup? I am 6ft2in if that helps. I come from boat fishing with shorter butted game rods, but want to do some landbased sharking in the evenings. Monster shark country down here in NZ, but I mainly catch Bronze Whalers from the shore, & I try not to but often get Juvenile White sharks & the odd Hammerhead. Shortfin-Makos & Threshers when out in the boat on bent-butt game rods. We have no Tigers/Bullsharks/Black Tips here in New Zealand. Appreciate the advice mate. Kia ora...

    Either of the 3 will work, I see guys fishing bent butt international 80s that they also use for marlin fishing still having a blast, I do recommend an longerish straight butt, but any size 4 should work honestly

    Is there a purpose to having a rod that screws together?

  • @GulfCoastNation

    @GulfCoastNation

    2 жыл бұрын

    We enjoy having unibutts for a few different reasons. Reason #1, if a guide breaks or you have rod issues. You can easily switch that rod out fast. #2 they transport very easy "breaking down" into shorter sections. #3 you can switch offshore and shark rods back and forth before trips quick!!
