Sharing My Adoption Story at Adoptive Family Camp//2-Day Vlog!

Dear Friend,
Some of you know that I am adopted, and many of you have asked me to share my experience with Adoption. Today's video is a vlog of my time at Adoptive Family Camp, and sharing my story publicly for the first time. As nerve wracking as it was, the experience was so good & it was such a special time. I've decided to share a shortened version here on my channel. There is so much more to my story, but those details are going to be kept private at this time. As mentioned in this video, I would like to do a Q&A in the future, regarding my adoption or adoption in general. If you would like to submit a question, feel free to comment on this video, DM me privately on Instagram, or send me an email at kimberlymartin0921@gmail.com

Awh 🥹 such a special story... ❤ My niece was going to be aborted... but the day before she was, my brother-in-law heard her biological mother talking at the restaurant he was manager at... He went over and asked if he could have her baby... ❤ she said yes, and my niece is 14 years old now... God is so sweet to us!! So SO good. ❤

    1. If you were adopting a child, would you choose an open or closed adoption for your child? Why? 2. Do you get together with your biological siblings? 3. I know you said your biological mom passed away, but do you know your biological dad? 4. What made your biological mom choose your parents? ( great decision by the way) 5. What are some things that people who adopt can do to help their child process their story?

Kim, you did a wonderful job speaking. Thank you for sharing your story. I’m sure it touched and will touch many - I was teary eyed and/or crying the whole way through. I love that you mentioned by Voddie Baucham, “If you can’t understand adoption, you can’t understand salvation” and how you said, “I was chosen twice.” 🥹

You said that you filled a Kim-sized hole in your adoptive parents' hearts, but I kept thinking about the fact that your birth mother had a God-sized hole in her heart. She was looking to fill it with all kinds of things, like affairs, but you might not be here without her infidelity; you might not have that testimony without it, either! Your adoptive parents gave you the VERY best legacy: the word of God, spoken to you, prayed over you, which the Holy Spirit stirred up in you, so that you could proclaim it on KZread. That's pretty amazing!

Thank you Sis Kim for sharing with us something so personal. I’m a mother of two sets of twins who God gave to us through adoption. We were married 8 years and our heart’s desire were answers . We have an open adoption ,we receive text calls mail extra from bio mothers and siblings. Our children are now 9 & 7 . We have always wanted them to grow up in love and truth of their stories, appropriate for their age and stage . I know my husband and I can’t take away pain they may face as they grow and have questions. It’s our hope that they always know how loved they are from us as parents and by their birth families. We have a hope being open will help lesson the hurt or possibly of unanswered questions . A child can never have to many people loving them . We ask God daily to give us wisdom when questions arise . Our love and bond with our children is the greatest blessing I have ever experienced besides Gods salvation. I know adoption come from a broken world. It minded my heart in a million ways and I pray I can be selfless in my love and support them as they grow .

You said your story so beautifully! I only know one adopted person, my youngest cousin. He came into our family at 2 months old and he's almost 15 now. But I myself have struggled with some feelings that maybe an adoptive child has had... I was raised by my grandparents and my parents weren't in my life too much, and not at all since high school. I always had the question of why my parents didn't want me, or how could they have a child that they don't even care how they're doing or what they're up to in life. I am 33 and still wonder these things sometimes. But I have to remind myself that God spared me of what could have been a much different life with either of my parents, who weren't together. He placed me with my grandparents who gave me a great life. God blessing me with grandparents made me who I am and a much better person for it.

Best video yet, testimonies are absolutely incredible and I’m weak so the amount of times I teared up and smiled…..I am so proud of you for sharing this and doing this, God is so good and testimonies are a vulnerable part of us to share but God is glorified tremendously when we do share them. Thank you so much for letting us know you like this, and you explained your story so beautifully it was so touching. The comparison to the book series and everything, you did well and God is truly using you no doubt about it. Thank you again for doing this, not an easy decision but a decision worth every bit of discomfort I’m sure. And those who listened to you in person I’m sure needed to hear every part.

Funny to see our neck of the woods in your vlog :) My husband and I live right by the school and have many fond memories from our time spent there as students. And yes, the dorms are quite… humble :p Thank you for being a part of Adoption week! We have a few people from our church who have been so blessed by it 🤍
