Its so crazy how different it is when its not the 4 of them on that TNT set. We gotta give credit to all the people behind the scenes too at TNT for their show because the feel is never the same, anywhere else.

You need all 4 because of their chemistry. It's super hard to re-create this for TV. You need everyone to be different, but also work well together. I think the only other group that can replicate this would be the trio from Top Gear, now Grand Tour.

The thing is that it won't matter who they get. People are going to watch the finals regardless of network/commentators. Bringing Shaq and Chuck, as much as I agree are way better than anyone for this, won't make a huge influx of viewership. If people are going to watch, they will watch. So they see the numbers and keep whoever. The way to get them would be to not watch if they aren't on it, which no basketball fan/watcher would do lol. So yeah I want Chuck and Shaq and the TNT crew in general but sadly it won't happen based on this.

Schmidt roasting a team led by Robinson and Manning (the same guys Sabonis faced) was a huge shock for American players and set the wheels in motion. Nobody had ever previously went off on an American team in such a manner at the international level. And to add salt on the wound.....it took place right on American soil. Sabonis the following year in Seoul burnt the house down in terms of not bringing the NBAs American best to international level tournaments, but Schmidt in 87 lit the fuse.

It's great to see both Shaq and Charles talking with praise about Jokic and explaining with inside why he was so good in this game. The narrative until now most of the time was "how to stop Jokic", so it was from the adversary's perspective (you saw this against the Suns, the Lakers and the build up to the finals) instead of "let's just admire the moment and explain the true qualities that make him such a special player in the last game."

Joker makes the simple play look great! How many backdoor cuts do we see...that's 101 basketball. My cousin who never played or was interested in basketball, but found himself as coach of 6-7 year olds (the original coach had accident 2 days before the season); taught him fundamentals and one play (the backdoor cut) and variations of that play. He later told me; the season would have been disaster, without being able to teach 6-7 years olds how to cut to the basket. Yeah the team did not do well, but it made them competitive in most games. I am still proud of that moment.

Plus he was three inches taller and much much quicker than Jokic. If he'd have come to Portland in the late 80s after they drafted him, I don't think Michael Jordan would've had 6 rings.

Yep. Sabonis was a stronger, more athletic Jokic. Similar passing skills, Jokic a better shooter (although Arvydas could shoot) and has more post moves. But a similar level of greatness in their primes. Jokic like Arvydas is going to be a factor in the NBA way beyond his athletic prime. That size, plus insane basketeball IQ is all that's needed to have a long career.

I always hear people throw around the term “athletic” but I’ve never really heard a good definition. When I watch Jokic play of course he’s not a Michael Jordan or a Kobe Bryant but the dude can dribble, pass, shoot, run the floor, etc, well for a big man and as good as some smaller players. So I don’t understand why people have to reference his athletic ability by saying he’s “not as athletic”, not as athletic as what? It’s almost a behind the back racist comment. Jokic plays a different style of basketball, not as flashy or aggressive. He doesn’t play the typical playground type basketball that many American players play so he isn’t going to be displaying a lot of overly “athletic” moves anyway. Each of the great centers were unique and Jokic is just another one of those great centers.

Jokic is for sure one of the greatest in the game today & will surely be a HOF if he can keep this level up. But I don't agree he did it better than Shaq or Chuck. At least not yet, he's more technical and skilled but it's a different game and different era. Threes were almost non existent back then and they were just the best in what they did, and by far the most dominant. I love how Jokic plays and shares the ball, but to be on the level of those, I believe he should dominate games even more & especially, create the gap between him & the other bigs like Giannes & Embiid. And most importantly, do it consistently over a couple years, but with the "soft" game of today, barring major injuries, I'm not worrying about that too much. Great player & good game. Love to see him win a chip!

Anthony Davis was camping under the basket against the Warriors because Draymond Green was not a shooting threat. Much more difficult to score in the paint when an opposing center is standing under the rim. Nuggets had some very easy shots in the paint because Bam had to guard Jokic on the perimeter.
