It was a living mess I tell ya

This was infuriating. No matter what I did I would always jump into the rock instead of over it. Ended up abusing save states just to beat it lol.

Aside from save states I also used cheat codes with immunity when going from area to area because the monsters are annoying especially navigating where to go next.

I still can't believe that she won that race... but I'm glad she did!

Never seen gameplay of this game until now, I first saw screencaps of this on a Nintendo Power issue as a kid. Didn't expect the graphics and music to be THIS good. O_O

I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one who was made to suffer by this damn race.

Very punishing, one time I even lost the race without crashing into anything just because I accidentally slowed down ONCE for like a second at a bad moment. I realized depending on what part of the race you are, some mistakes are recoverable, but there's a point once crossed where no matter how good you are doing even the slightest mistake will cost you the race, no matter what. In short; best solution is to memorize the obstacles and play it perfectly.

I initially though it was a tacky way to represent grit teeth, but as I've gotten more familiar with WayForward and their art (especially on Game Boy), I think it's supposed to be a blush effect or something.

How fast does you believe Shantae was going when she raced against Rotty? The fastest sprinting speed for female, according to our Olympic sports records, is 22 mph. Last I remember......

Part of the frustration is that you never have enough of a lead on Rottytops, she's always just behind you and if she passes you it's almost impossible to get ahead of her. That and collision is horrible, you're more likely to jump into a rock instead of over it.

What happens if Shantae loses the race?
