I think even if Shanks wasn't' there, Kidd would still try to conquer Elbaf, and the giants would defeat him.

I think that Kid serves an important role in the story in showing that not everyone who is brash and hot-blooded manages to make it. It’s not just that Luffy is the first person in the world to do what he is doing. Some of it is skill, some of it is wanting it bad enough, and some of it is luck.

People hate on Kidd for trying to achieve his dream and trying to fight 3 Yonkos, but I think he deserves respect for having balls. Those are the same people that hate when Blackbeard or Greenbull run from fights, or that still love Luffy after all L's. You can hate Kidd for his rage personality, but gotta respect his hustle

I doubt that Shanks have the durability for that. I can't even picture Big Mom getting her arm ripped off by a Sea King. Also, Big Mom both has Ryou and ACoC as seen when she used it vs Kaido and Page One. Yet, it was never used vs Kidd and Law.

He's a member of the Red Hair fleet, not the main crew, like Barto is of the SH fleet. They really didn't go into detail on the anime here, but the red hair pirate fleet is known to be full of weak pirates.

Tbf to Kidd, he might've under a different circumstance. You see, Kidd in the manga was literally focused on the fleetmembers and was charging an attack to destroy them. Kidd might even change his tactic of he was indeed facing Shanks head-on, as he's clearly vulnerable when he's charging his Damned Punk. Unlike the other Yonko, Shanks immediately used ACoC on Kidd. To rub salt on the wound, Kidd's own railgun exploded on him after Shanks attack. Perhaps Shanks needed to 2-3 shot him before going down? If Shanks didn't foresaw Kidd destroying his fleet, he might've gone full yonko and hold back his power like Kaido and Big Mom does. Even Luffy does this vs Lucci as a yonko.
