I agree! Stop shopping at the box stores or online with super mega company. The prices are great and you will NOT get better customer service. 90% of the time the price is exactly what you find out there on the internet. They will be right up front with you with good advice. Shane gave me advice on electronic drums 7 years ago that still holds true today. He told me to spend more money. The 400 dollar e-kit was not going to cut it and was not going to be the best to learn on. This was back in the old store and he had nothing to sell me e-drum wise. He was right! I have spent 1000's of dollars that I didn't need to. I said GOOD advice not that I took his advice. 🙂We have experienced the down fall of locally run music retailers because of the domination of Guitar Center. I love this store and it makes me happy to go in there and see a ton of people on a Saturday. It reminds me of the old days going into that Junky music store and just spending a hour looking at my next thing. BTW bring your wallet! You're going to need it! 😋

18” floor toms are extremely underrated

The drums sound great, but what really touched me was Shane's story at the end. The way he expresses his gratitude and explains why DW means so much to him and the sincerity with which he does it is genuinely moving. DCP is unmatched. Congrats Shane!

There are two types of drum companies out there, just like there are two types of furniture companies out there. There's a drum manufactures and there are drum finishers. I'm glad DW went from just being a drum finisher to being a drum manufacture. When you do not make your own shells and you get your shells from Keller you are a drum finisher. Just like a furniture company who buys, cuts and shapes the wood, they are a `real furniture manufacture. Again furniture finishers buy the wood already cut, made and put together; then they just "finish" it... DW never became the real deal until they started making they're *own* shells. Anyone in High School wood shop can buy shells from Keller and be a drum finisher JUST LIKE many of the "drum companies" out there. Watching all the marketing drama from DW for decades it's nice to know and finally see they have arrived and are finally the real deal, and are a real drum manufactures, instead of what they used to be just another drum 'finisher' company. Congrats to DW and congrats to Shane on your new set! Peace

And thats y after endless hrs of comparing drums Pearl Tama Ludwig my choice was the choice I knew it was going to be the drummers choice DW, which was my first choice but since you are the greatest drugstore on the planet and put out 6 million comparison videos you had me doubting myself but I’m glad I finally made a decision of buying the greatest drums from the greatest drum store And I’m sure I speak for everyone. I appreciate the sacrifices you’ve made for us.

Dw is still and always has been my favorite drum manufacturer I own and love Dw drums and always will

I am a busy drummer. I too have a 15 piece kit, but Tama. I LOVE having that many drums available. Once you have them set up in a more permanent setting and play them for a while, you'll start to figure out exactly where you want everything, and how you can better position everything to make it both more compact without having to eliminate gear, and ergonomic for you and your playing style. It may take some very careful adjustments here and there, and maybe two or three complete reorganizations (take pictures of what works as you go), but it's so satisfying once you find the sweet spot for everything. I'm also an open handed player, and with 4 floor toms, it made it very easy to split them with two on each side, which also gave me a more relaxed playing position and more powerful floor tom playing because I could hit two without having to twist my body to one side of the kit. Have fun!

I can only imagine what it feels like to sit behind and play such a gorgeous piece of artistic beauty. You are a very fortunate young man, my friend.

I can’t even find the right words to describe this kit, it’s simply a phenomenal sounding and looking DW kit, honestly one of the best I’ve ever heard. That’s about all the drums I want for my dream DW kit, and the maple/mahogany shells are some of the best DW offer. And the tuning on this kit, and all the other kits you guys have is second to none. Fantastic video everyone, hope to come by the shop some day down the road!

WOW, I thought I was in heaven when I got my Roland TD27 kit. Now I want... Lol I bet you'll get enjoyment out of dusting them, rubbing them, feeling the smoothness of... You know what I mean.

I walked into a store for a hi hat clamp saw 2 collectors kits for sale I fell in love with one went back next day and tried them out then picked them up the following weekend when my wife was at a bachelorette party. Timing was perfect. My favorite kit I’ve played🥁🔥 I love watching the DW videos of Don and John

Having watched a ton of your videos, you’ve really improved over the years. Your feel and finesse has improved the most, IMO.

This kit sounds as amazing as any of the most impressive kits you've reviewed on here, which, all things considered, is hardly surprising. So much musical tone and low end. I have to wonder if some part of that comes from the fact that the kit is so big, and how much sympathetic resonance must be coming off a load of drums, including a load of big ones whenever you playing on one of the others. Something else that really stands out is how pleasing the closer pitch intervals between the 12", 13", and 14" toms are relative to what we're used to hearing from most kits with 2" or 4" size intervals. So happy for you.

Reminds me of the huge Gretsch kit in their poster/catalogue in the 80's!! The difference being the massive hardware(cymbal stands) Gretsch offered back then.

All I want is Gretsch BroadKaster in 12”, 14” toms, an 18” kick and an extra 20” kick for big band. All in Satin Walnut. And I’ll never be able to afford them. Ever. It breaks my heart every day. I’ve got a quote from you guys. It’ll never happen. Watching this makes me want to cry. 😞

That's how I roll too- 1 huge kit & use what the music & stage space requires.

WOW What a kit! 😎 My dream kit is also a DW maple/mahogany double kick drums 2 or 3 up and 2 down, I would also change the top heads to Aquarian Focus X clear and the batter heads on the kicks with Aquarian Force 1 clear heads, drumheads really is a personal choice for every drummer out there! Great sounding drums and from what you're telling us, you deserve them. DW makes a great product and they where lightyears ahead of everyone else in terms of inovation and custom options. Lets' hope they keep innovating and maintain the quality standard we're used to.

SHAKE MY HEAD. THAT KIT IS PHENOMENAL AND I SOUNDS LIKE HEAVEN. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO AFFORD A DW KIT. BUT I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY THAT KIT.

Not shocked that your "old standby" took a backseat this time around. Sonically, you're in the same zip code but maybe a little fuller on the low mids and bass. It's a great looking and sounding kit chosen at the right season for all the right reasons. And like I've said before, several of the key elements that made your "old love interest" reign at the top of the food chain for so long are no longer part of the program. Hey, special steel at mass quantity costs money, right? And since we no longer have to worry about shells being in-round at the top of the price line, or bearing edges being sloppily cut, or not being able to get 6 standard shell types with an additional 10 available combinations(!)...good lord. It really IS a custom market that can be tailored to the n'th degree, just as it should be. Congratulations, Shane; it's a winner!

Reminds me of the old Ludwig Octa plus!

I dig it, good decision. It's a unique sounding kit. I can definitely hear the mahogany difference yet it projects perfectly loud enough. It's very open without being flubby or airy. The majority of kits I've heard in my 49 years listening to them can be labeled by a genre or two they would likely fit most comfortably, rock or jazz, etc. That kit doesn't come across like it has a favorite anything, it's like it's saying ''I like sticks, brushes, hands and feet. Check your adjectives, pronouns and hairstyles at the door, buddy. I ain't got the temperament for pigeonholing''. That can be intimidating for someone who isn't well rounded and versed in speaking in many voices, and that even applies to recording engineers because it's an open field with that kit, you got all the colors to play with there.

one can tell how happy you were when you took each one of those drums out of their boxes. Very cool video, keep them coming

Serious flashbacks to my first drumkit. Birch/mahogany 8/10/12/13/14/15 rack toms, 16/18 floor toms, 6/8/10 rototoms and double bass. My kits have gotten smaller over the years, but still love these big kits. This sounds and looks amazing. Congrats!
