How are people trying to claim he bombed? Yea he was a bit more nervous than usually but overall he nailed it in the exact style that made him popular. He's not gonna change his style to fit SNL they asked him he doesn't even need them

I've felt nothing but 2nd hand embarrassment any time I ever briefly watched SNL after the early 80's...why do people still want host this show?!?! btw...go Shane!!

There's so so so much gold from the last 40 years on SNL, some of the greatest casts they've ever had. Yeah, it sucks more, but to say it hasn't been good since the early 80s just shows you're nostalgic and not an accurate judge of comedy.

I like to imagine the laughing is just a track and no one was actually laughing.

That's how stand up works. It's incredibly hard to write 10 minutes of solid material, so if you're going on SNL, in front of crowd that either doesn't know you, or knows you and hates you, you're gonna play the hits.
