I tuned in mid way through this song on Miriam O' Callaghan Show this morning. I had no idea who was singing but it stopped me in my tracks. I've listened to "Shanagolden" sung by so many people down the years, none could touch this. It's by far the nicest version, really beautiful. What a stunning voice, effortless singing, absolutely amazing.

A great song written by Sean McCarthy from Finuge in County Kerry. He wrote many more songs too

4 years ago my wife and I went over to Ireland to see Don Stiffe .Trust me to hear him live is a wonderful experience .The power he controls with such fine pitch was worth the cost to travel across the Irish SEA . We will o it again .Fantastic .

This is beautiful. I’ve been listening to Margo’s definitive rendition of Shanagolden for decades. It was one of my mother’s favourite songs. Yet I still find myself returning to this great version, too.

The best singer of his genre in the country. Should be a household name, fantastic singer and songwriter. Up Galway, well done Don, from a Shantalla man 👍

Don stiffe is one of our legends in the folklore of Irish singing what a magical voice listening to Dons stuff with your eyes closed can take you like a bird flying around our beautiful cliffs of Ireland

I have always loved this song. Yesterday was the first time I heard Don sing it. I stopped my car to listen. So Beautiful.

SEAN Sullivan...he is a really fine singer ....is he a bit to fine for the modern ear ...i'm from the 50s when this type of rendition would have been valued very highly...his sound brings me back to more hopeful times !
