Katie - a long time after your initial comment, sorry - but look for 'COPPERS AND BRASS The Piping Tradition of Irish Travellers' over on Vimeo. A short one that goes into one particular treasure of Irish music the travellers kept alive - the uileann pipes. I think there's also a short documentary up here somewhere about the Pecker Dunne and his family - who this great song always brings back to my mind

Fabulous song, the gypsy fascinate me and I know a few in Surrey........
@MacTireMhaighEo that was a brilliant doccumentary, fairplay to RTE for finally making a prog about travellers and for travellers that was both interesting and truthful> id love to see one about traveller musicians, the likes of the Felix and Johny Doran, the MacCarthys and Connors etc. Check out Tommy MacCarthys debut cd "Round Top Wagon" its A1.

Graddam Awards Tom McCarthy getting recognised at last? Saw the ad on TG4 can't wait for it .He's the real deal in my book an important link to the past while keeping the fire lit into this century personally gives me hope?Anyway next time I'm down home must meet up for a song or two? Happy New Year to you & yours from Co.Mayo
