Yahooo…… And Shammi Kapoor arrived in the Psyche of the Indian Audiences with a Bang! His Style of Music stood apart from all that had been heard before.
Shammi Kapoor’s Music has two very distinctive movements.
One is, the Up-beat, Peppy, Fast, Zippy tracks which each Music Director who worked with him embellished with his own particular preference….. So the beatsy Punjabi Dholaks come with O P Nayyar. Strings and Drums with Shankar Jaikishan. And R D Burman brings his Brasses, Guitars, Percussion arrangements.
Then, there are the Soft, Melodious, Moody numbers.
In Part 3 of our Interview Shammi ji goes down memory lane to talk about Singers who play backed for him. There is a surprise revelation there…… : )
Shammi ji was so aware and alert about tunes… a mukhda hummed could be the birth of a new Song. Shammi ji very keen incorporated his own kind of Music with each Music Director he worked with. He tells with candor how “Sir par Topi Laal” essentially a Solo song came to him….

Shammie, I was about 7 to 8 years old, an my mother will get me dress and we will go to cinema to watch double movies on Sunday with shammie, an he will bring out the best in his songs, his songs was different an shaking on ur feet, he was a romantic actor.

listen to song Tumhe Husn De Ke Khuda Ne Sitamgar Banaya ; Singer: Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle ... from film Jab Se Tumhe Dekha Hai (1963) . He and shashi kapoor sing this as guest start. @@dk1321 not exactly...according to martin scale(11-7),he had mixed eye range- i.e . combination of blue ,green nd dots of golden brown!!
