'Shame!': security staff eject Knesset members after Israeli judicial changes

Israel’s far-right and ultra-religious government has succeeded in passing a key part of the coalition’s judicial overhaul, seven months after introducing the legislation and despite widespread, sustained opposition from protesters.

The bill abolishing the “reasonableness” clause that allows Israel’s unelected supreme court to overrule government decisions was passed into law by a final vote of 64-0 in parliament on Monday. Every member of the coalition voted in favour, while opposition lawmakers abandoned the Knesset plenum in protest. The streets around the parliament building in Jerusalem were thronged with protesters waving blue and white flags

I don’t see what the problem is, Israel doesn’t have a constitution. Unlike here in the United States where our Supreme Court makes rulings that goes with the constitution, Israel Supreme Court doesn’t have that. They are making rulings and upholding laws based on their opinions and not the law of the land.

The United Kingdom does not have a constitution, and the laws and rules are not codified in a single, written document but the UK government respects the doctrine of separation of powers where they do not get involved with the Courts. What the Government of Israel did is that they took the Courts power away and that would make people feel unsafe. It is more of a Dictator system now thn a democratic system. This is done in North Korea.

While there is no a full constitution, there are scraps of it written over the years (like the "human rights and rights of the citizens" bill) on which the court can base it's rulings. And yes, some of the rulings are arbitrary and based on the reasonability clause, but most of these rulings are small. If the judges whould have done whatever they want on major issues, there would have been major protests on the edge of uprising.
