Unlike many performers, Shalamar sounds like their record. As you could see, that is a real band. No lip syncing here. I could tell because their singing pattern is different from the album.Shalamar can sing! Howard knows he can blow!

People always say Michael Jackson took from Jeffrey Daniels, But people forget they fed off each other. Jeffrey taught Michael some of the glide footwork but Jeffrey took some hip movements that were Michaels signature steps when performing. It's great to see the influences.

I can never get enough of that freeze at 1:17. Jody and Jeffrey complimented each other really well when they were in Shalamar together. Also, that chemistry was one of the many reasons why they were THE couple to watch on Soul Train for many years at one point. Jermaine Stewart on the background vocals at 1:13

yes guys . it is Jermaine in the background . He was one of our friends from the Soul Train set .He and Jody were very close . He influenced my lead vocals on " Stay Close To Love " and " Lovely Lady " on Shalamar's Disco Gardens album .

This was Shalamar at their peak! Sounding fabulous live. And with Jermaine Stewart in the background vocals. And they can say whatever they want, but without Jody Watley Shalamar is not Shalamar.

Of course you're right! When Jermanine's album first came out, I remember there were several references to Shalamar while doing television appearances and magazine articles, etc. This is actually the first footage I've ever seen with Jermaine singing with them...Wow, I miss those days!

Having lived through this era (80's), this video and performance gives me chills at how perfect a group Shalamar was. Leon Sylvers produced his ass for Shalamar, Dynasty and his family group , The Sylvers. I rank Shalamar's amazing effect up there with Beyonce, Selena and the great Motown acts of the 60's.
