Meaning of each step performed in namaz . 1 Intention (Niyyah): The intention is important because it distinguishes Namaz from any other physical movement or activity. It is an internal declaration that the person is performing the act of prayer solely for the sake of Allah. 2 Standing (Qiyam): Standing up straight is a sign of respect and honor towards Allah. It is a physical demonstration of the person's submission to Allah's commands. 3 Recitation of Takbir: Takbir is an expression of the greatness of Allah and the person's acknowledgement of His supremacy. It serves as a reminder that Allah is the most important entity in the person's life. 4 Recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha: Surah Al-Fatiha is the opening chapter of the Quran and is considered the most important surah.
