Love your videos they're so helpful and innovative keeping up with trends, I do have a request. I see you using the carving comb and sheers in new ways I've never seen such as what you call tease cutting and such, I was wondering if you could make a video or two highlighting techniques like that with slow motion and zoom so we can all see how it's done correctly. I am a very picky hair person. I have the weirdest hair. I grew up with no direction in any aspect of life- hair being the least of my problems, but at the same time- hitting 12 years old- it became an obsession. I got my dad's unruly curls and waves. The top of my head is a mop of very stubborn and well-formed big, fat ringlets. The under is flat and wavy- no predictable formation on the daily. I have pieced together your very well thought out videos and have reached what I feel is a fairly homgenous cut. This video, in particular, was very informative-simple, yet highly demonstrative. I cannot thank you enough!!! I would love to understand why my hair is so odd. No one curl goes the same way as another. It's a true challenge!

Hi Matt I was wondering if you could please do a tute on ...I don't know what it's called 😄 but it's a medium length cut where the top is styled to curl under at neck level, and the underneath layers flick out below that. 😃 I can't work out if it's a standard short-layered cut, and it's all in the styling, or whether it is cut to sit that way. 😊

Do you have suggestions for customer that wants this type of haircut but already has a lot of volume.. shags could be crazy heavy for bulky hair especially wavy and curly hair

Awesome cut! I like how you gave the hair texture with the open and close technique instead of using a razor. Most stylist want to take a razor to my thick hair to give me that same look and seem perplexed/insulted when I tell them I don't want a razor taken to my head because it destroys my ends. As a professional stylist can you comment on: is the razor the "easy way out" for cutting long thick hair? Or is it just the trendy thing to do right now?

A razor is not the easy way out it gives a different look or texture depending on the look of the style. The razor should be super sharp, meaning a new blade to prevent destroying the ends.

In my opinion, the skill of being able to create controlled texture using scissors is best way to work at balancing the weight in the haircut.
