Shadowfax - Orangutan Gang live 86

Shadowfax, from the Windham Hill Live video recorded at Red Rocks in CO
I just got some new info on this clip from Joebob "Actually not live at Red Rocks. Live at SIR studios in LA and cut into the live Red Rocks show. The "Live at Red Rocks" concert video is only live at Red Rocks between songs. I have photos of Michael Hedges in the studio at this same shoot."

This music always warms my heart. Love this band - no need for mushrooms, either

The best New Age band ever! I saw them several times in Pittsburgh. They were awesome. Good dudes! They won 2 Grammys! Rest in peace Chuck Greenberg!

DEP Igor Entrala, presentador de Sin Protocolo (antiguo programa de TVN Chile que fue emitido en los 1990s, el cual empleaba esa melodía en su apertura)

I know Chuck Greenburg has passed on, but it would be nice if the original members of the band could reunite and produce some new music.

Sometimes they were new-age background music crap, but when they wrote this sort of prog rock stuff with the good grooves they were great.

A fan from the 80's. You are right, even though I liked their new age stuff while tripping on shrooms and herbs, is their groovy stuff like this I enjoyed the most back them. And recently I've discovered they were full blown Fusion / Prog in their beginning. Do you know why didn't they keep doing it? Why they changed? Not that it matters, 'cause I truly enjoy their new age music even 'til now to meditate and while practicing Yoga (w/out enhancements now) but I wonder why.

Chuck Greenberg died way too young and the band broke up....They all said it couldn't be done without him

They started down the New Age path to appeal to the tastes of William Ackerman & get signed at Windham Hill. Slowly the fusion / prog elements worked their way back in, but nothing ever approached the style of Watercourse Way. IDK, personally I love all of their albums, but I think the sweet spot was actually the work they did right at the very end. That live album is the one I keep coming back to again and again.

I'm sure they just got tired of trying to write interesting and complex music for naught, in a world that appreciates pop crap. If you google that band members, you can find what most of them are doing these days. I think one of them died, and that had a huge impact.
