Fun Fact: Wanderer (Character you play as) is not skilled in using a sword. Though he does kill the Colossus with one, he has had no real training in using a sword. If you try to attack when not trying to climb a Colossus, Wanderer will swing his sword rather sluggishly with no form or stance to his swings. Though he is skilled in archery as he is able to stand on Agro and fire his bow as his horse is moving.

It's also implied that he stole the sword for its magical abilities, which means he was likely just an archer or an aspiring archer in his past

When I found out the truth I was sad

This game tells us so much without speaking. The way Wander, a teenager at best, fails to competently handle his stolen sword. The raw size of Agro, a destrier, suggesting he was also stolen by the child. The music of pure loss when a colossus dies. The menacing infection of the black tendrils, and the corruption they wreak upon Wander's body. The fruit that literally gives life, alluding to a creation garden. I could go on and on. The game is a masterwork, and the team behind it is going to kill themselves trying to make The Last Guardian live up to that legacy. I wish them luck, but strokes of brilliance like this can't be forced. They are born.

This game has no leveling system, no cheesy characters , no gimmicks ,no magic, no npc's , a really empty landscape..no cities or real life.. and you ask how can someone say its a good game? this game was made perfect in simplicity. The music is perfect, the mysterious story and character is perfect. To die countless times figuring out how to defeat a boss, searching for them in a magnificent landscape that you have to explore. This isn't just a game , it is art, it is the definition of passion . No game has made me felt the way this game has. I feel sorry for the colossi , the ending is sad but its still good. man if only all games were made with equal passion....

To me, a gamer since 1988, this is one of the greatest games of all time. It is so simplistic in it's presentation but its lasting effect on your soul is incredible.

What people seem to neglect is that the Evil Spirit kept his end of the bargain and revived the girl.

just got to the end. DAMN. that's one dedicated horse!

Phaedra was so confusing to me at first! I died so many times fighting him until I realized I was supposed to wait in the cave so he could bend over XD

So...let me get this straight. Your loved one is dead. You must kill a bunch of colossi so that the soul of some being can resurrect her. You kill the colossi. Turns out the being is only after some fresh meat so that it can return to the world. The being disappoints you by not resurrecting the girl. Some guy seals you and the bad guy inside the shrine. You don't get to meet (see: bang) your loved one. You're treated as the bad guy even though all you wanted was to have her within your arms again. And you die together with the bad guy. And then you're turned in some kind of demon child. And the girl remains alone in the shrine, probably eating grass for the rest of her miserable life. What a fucking waste of time.

*SPOILER ALERT* sorry for those who haven't finished nor played the game, and my explanation may be confused for y'all. But there is a channel that I'm suggesting to you (at the end) Well dormin (the bad guy was talking to Wander) couldnt revive her because of the laws of mortals, however Wander had an ancient sword and was told to go to forbidden lands. Dormin said that the ancient sword he had could have the chance to ressurect her, fortunately Wander was surprised, and decide to follow Dormin's instructions. Each time he was killing to colossi, these black tentacles were like a fragment of Dormin. At the end, Dormin was ressurected by using Wander body. Dormin may had a connection with the shaman this is why he tried to stop him (again maybe). He failed and suddenly all thoses dark things he had came to her girlfriend called mono (forgot to tell you) what I would tell you that Dormin the bad guy had 2 spirits the female and the male . So the female side of dormin went to her and the male side went to wander (i'm not really sure if I am 100% right but its true that dormin has 2 spirits you can hear it) Dormin did kept his promise to wander, unfortunately the light he went in made him turn into a baby not only to get rid of the darkness, but memories... and punishment... I'm really sorry that this was a long thing to write, but if you wanna find out more the ending. Go to a channel called Nomad Colossus I am telling you this guy is super super super amazing with his research. He also explain about the ending (the light and dark video) This game is a masterpiece and Wonderful with emotions I will never forget about this game the first time I played that game when I was a kid. Nothing can surpass this game I hope The Last Guardian (next game by the same creator of Shadow of the Colossus) is going to be super great and hoping for a second Shadow of the Colossus with more colossus than they about to do (64 or more they have tried to do but PS2 limitations)

zobitX Because, is too god to have a sequel. You just can't have a SotC 2 so easly. And the game has a story, the story of Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, and The Last Guardian. Is like asking for a "Morrowind 2" :v , not only it would be senseless and break the storyline, but also, some things are better by just leaving them alone, and not milking it, like Halo ewe (Halo 1 was pretty good, but now...). Aaaand, the game was designed to be unique, no Shadow of the Colossus 2.

Good Job, man. I couldn't complete this game for the life of me. It was way too difficult. Farthest I got was the eagle colossus. You deserve a congratulations for succeed where so many have failed.. or at least me. Thank you for the video, I really wanted to beat this game but like I said I couldn't regardless of so many times I tried. I wanted to at least get to see the ending in my life time. Thank you again. Malus (the final colossi) is my favorite among all the 16...but it really sucks that he can't walk. Imagine that behemoth trying to stomp you, and wrecking everything in it's path while also shooting fireballs at you. Now THAT'S a final boss! :D

Something about the ending always gives me trouble. From what Dormin says, the Collosi were basically living seals holding parts of his soul, or something to that effect. Which would justify him wanting them dead. Also, he only "steals" your body after you get murdered right in front of him, in a room with the one thing that could seal him away, for the sole purpose of smashing the people who killed you. And then not only still keeps his word and saves your girlfriend, but also brings you back to life. I guess my question is: Why is it assumed that Dormin is the bad guy? At what point does he do ANYTHING antagonistic to anyone but the ass who broke into his house and killed his ally? First time I played through this, I thought Emon was the bad guy, only to hit the interwebs and find everyone saying he was the hero. What did I miss here?

This game was and is so ahead of its time. Crazy that this was for the PS2! The sense of scale is crazy. Either a sequel or an HD remake is required imo. I need to see this in 4k!

yeah, they are harmless but the main character has to kill them in order to save a princess from a curse that has her in like a coma state, so yeah its pretty sad to kill them when you play the game :(

Basically the girl was cursed and died (in a way) so the guy steals the magic sword and journeys to the forbidden land. There he meets the spirit(forgot his name it's been a while) and it tells him that the only way to free him is to kill the Giants. But that's not true. Many years ago there was only one giant. (The one you turn into) that is the incarnation of the spirit. However he was defeated and was split into those 16 giants. But by defeating those Giants and freeing the souls he could once more reincarnate himself into his body. The spirit still revives the girl in the end and the spirit is sealed into a human form with the guys soul still there, meaning that it has a physical form and is then reborn into the baby

If you haven't played SOTC you don't know what you're missing. Sooo much fun.

This game is just a Masterpiece together with Eternal Darkness and the remake of the first Resident Evil this was the most athmosphere game i ever played.

Learn how to space your ads. There is no excuse for ads being in the middle of fights when every fight has a save break in-between.

1:46:00 it is the most terrorfiring boss battle i have ever played! Such a great game!

this game really really pushed the full limits of the PS2 back in the day =0 it still is a great game! like i think back, and im still like WOW at how crazy ahead of its time this game was and how hard it pushed the PS2 hardware wise.

that soundtrack is so good, everything is so epic and it fits perfectly!

i heard this game was great for its bosses, but they don't look that hard. Then again, I am making this comment before I see any of the later ones, yet the only difficulty I see is holding on while the colossus shakes around

this is more of a puzzle game really. Also it doesnt have to be hard. I just played Shadow of the Colossus for the first time and it wasnt really hard, but challenging (still easy). I just see it as a puzzle game and had my fun with it. Its a great game.

Sena Daiki No fuckin lie lol 1 boss took me like 2 days to figure out and I forgot which one. I give this mad props. Not even any Prince of Persia could compare to this in boss fights in my opinion. My favorite boss was the flying one. That was just epic as fuck.
